I've had a chance to chat with John, the initial technician that performed the actual installation of the humidifier and he remembers the call quite well - he also remembers you personally requesting the humidifier be hooked up to the hot side - you had been very clear about how you wanted your humidifier hooked up and we complied with your wishes. Of course, we're always happy to send technicians back at no charge to verify that the work was done as it should be, even if it's to alter something no more than personal preference.

Hi there Levi, I'm sorry to hear that you were unsatisfied, especially after giving you a courtesy refund last year when you had your initial concern. The next time we heard from you was this past Friday when you had called with the concern about the connection of the humidifier. Of course we immediately booked a follow up appointment for Monday with a senior HVAC technician and were happy to send out a technician to get that switched over, although having it hooked up to the hot water is not actually incorrect or controversial - its more of a preference and there are differing opinions, like many things - the humidifier actually works more efficiently with the warm water connection and does in fact provide humidity for your very dry house. Either way, due to your displeasure we provided a complimentary humidifier pad for your troubles.

At the end of the day I do feel that we've done everything we could to satisfy your concerns, even so much as giving you a courtesy refund on a non emergency that was quoted up front and with ample time to make a decision (and to do necessary research before having us do the work) but feel free to call us again if you'd like to discuss things further, we're always happy to chat!

I'm sorry to hear about you experience, that is certainly not the perception we wish for a customer such as yourself to be left with. We are certainly more expensive than some companies and yet not as expensive as others in town. We are within 10%-20% of who we deem to be our competitors and I would caution you against comparing products, services and companies - often it is not apples to apples. There are many companies in town that are happy to put themselves out of business by underselling jobs, whereas our company has been around for upwards of 15 years. We also quote our prices up front to the penny, so that our customers are entirely aware of the price before they choose to have the work done and avoid any potential surprises. Where some companies are satisfied to simply guess a few prices over the phone, Price X for a base model (i.e. cheap) 40 gallon and Price Y for a base model (i.e. cheap) 50 gallon (and surprise you with the price increases when gas lines, water lines and venting need to be changed), we prefer to tailor a quote specifically for our customers - there are so many innovations in water heaters these days, from tankless to high recovery tanks, that phone quotes just don't cut it! Every home is different, everyone's hot water needs are different - we only give exact pricing on (as you said) the higher-quality products.

Jo-Ann, thank you for updating your concern. I can't tell you just how glad I was that we were able to work out a resolution! You're right, some of our prices are higher than other companies (although not as high as others) but we do that for a reason! Many plumbing companies cut prices (and corners) which results in a few things - cheap (lower quality) technicians, cheap products and potentially going out of business due to underselling themselves - we see it all the time in the plumbing world and the real victims are the customers who have warranties with these guys! You'd be shocked at the turnover in small plumbing companies - check out the difference between the 2009 and 2011 yellow pages for examples! Either way, I'm thrilled we were able to resolve this for you, I think we can happily agree to disagree, but just know that if you ever need a company (pushing 15 years old now!) that can be accountable, provide great service, use the best parts and have the best technicians, you know our number!

Thanks Preston - it means a lot to us when our customers recognize the value of an EXACT price, up front! Too often do we hear from customers who have had negative experiences with plumbers that tell wonderful promises of low prices over the phone, only to raise the price once the job is half done. We avoid that faux pas by doing something that many companies still refuse to do - an exact price, up front, BEFORE you agree to any work! Our customers love it and they never have to worry about surprises, even if we're on site longer than we anticipate - an hourly rate isn't much good if you don't know just how long a technician will choose to take on a job!

Always leave the customer's job site as clean or cleaner than we found it! Boot covers are vital to this! I can't tell you how many times customers of ours have been shocked that we use them, after having other technicians track mud, dirt and snow through their house. I'm shocked that there are companies that don't! It's little things like that, that show exactly how much attention to detail we put in to planning our business method. I appreciate you pointing it out, many customers take things like boot covers and tidying up for granted (and they should - it should be standard for every contractor ever!) - until they have a contractor that marks up their brand new carpet!
