Throne Replacement

Faced with leaking toilets in a condo apartment, you must take action- and quickly. We emailed Clearview and Casey was there, addressing plumbing issues inherent in the buildings construction and in our reno. Casey had solutions and replaced the cracked and leaking toilets with professional aplomb. Plus Casey's customer service was exceptional. He listens. He explains in layman terms. He cleans up. He gave the seniors' discount without being asked. We have used scads of 'plumbers' in many years. Now, we know who to call to get the job done right, first time.

Thanks Allison! Casey is definitely one of our star technicians. When we're looking for new hires, we make sure that our technicians are as relatable as possible. We want to make sure all of our customers understand exactly what is required and what the options are and don't mind explaining what we need to do and why! Many companies employ confusion as their ally in maximizing profits - if the customer doesn't know what they're talking about, the actual severity of the situation can be manipulated. We want to make sure that we give honest advice and honest prices - all up front, so there are no surprises! Glad to hear that you'll be calling us back, we're always happy to help!

Thanks again Allison!

Hot Water Tank Valve Replacement

I have had good success with Homestars in the past. This has been the absolute worst experience. I called to have my bypass valve replaced on my hot water tank.
On the day of the first appointment, I got a call about 10 mins before the scheduled time to inform me my tech had become very ill and I would have to reschedule. They apologized and explained they would waive the standard $80 fee for coming out at my rescheduled appt.
On the rescheduled day, the tech arrived on time, and proceeded to ask what the issue was and what I wanted done. I explained that the bypass valve would leak and I needed it replaced. He asked me to show him, at which time I turned up the temp on my hot water tank to show him. Since it takes some time to heat up, we went upstairs and he started writing up the service quote.
He proceeded to write up pages of potential services he could sign me up for, all at vastly higher prices than I had ever seen before, $1000 to install a humidifier? That should have been my first warning.
Before he had finished writing up his quote, I decided to go downstairs and check my hot water tank, and as I had seen before, water was pouring out of the bypass valve and the floor was soaked.
When I finally talked the tech into only providing the service I had originally requested, he proceeded with the task of emptying my hot water tank.
In the end, the job was done well, but the up-sale attempt and exhorbitant charge of almost $600 left a very sour taste in my mouth.
They refused to give any quote over the phone, which is ironic considering how quickly the tech was willing to quote additional potential services once at my house. The person on the phone claimed, she couldn't give a quote as she can't be sure of the service required. However the tech made many (incorrect) assumptions when he wrote up his pages of quotes from his catalogue of services.
If you need basic work done, move along, there are better options out there that will not break the bank. It felt like paying someone $100 to change my light bulbs.

$600.00

Installed Blower Motor and then replaced Whole new furnace

Originally we only had repaired the problem with our old furnace which was about $1600.00. They agreed to replace the furnace and discount the work they'd already done if we bought new through them which we agreed - wow they took off their costs of repair for the original call. I thought everyone that has been to my house from Clearview were very nice, friendly and clean. I had a very good experience and I would use them again! I didnt feel like I was going to be mugged when they entered my home.

Thanks so much for the review Malcom, you're absolutely right - when you decide to replace an appliance immediately after having substantial work done to it, we think it's only fair to credit the amount you've already paid into the appliance that we end up replacing. I'm glad you felt safe with your technician- this is something that many people take for granted, that every technician is drug tested and background checked - the truth is, many companies that try to be the cheapest simply cannot afford to pay for drug testing, background checks or to be able to hire according to those tests - some companies have to take who they can get and end up sent to customer's homes. Not a concern with Clearview though, we only hire the best of the best that meet our specific critera!

Thanks for your comments! Steve is a great technician and we're lucky to have him on our team! I'm glad we were able to take care of your hot water tank issues efficiently, one of the benefits to working with a company that charges per job as opposed to per hour is you can feel comfortable knowing that the technician can take the time he needs to fix the job RIGHT without penalizing the customer for going the extra mile - it also assures you that you won't have a technician rushing to finish a job in the time (and price) quoted! We quote up front and guarantee our pricing BEFORE we start! Thanks again!

You reignited 2 furnaces and replaced one thermocouple for a total charge of $525.
More fool me, I should have checked you out first. Caveat emptor.
The amount of advertising you do has to be paid for somehow.

Check out out leak stain on ceiling, furnace service, repair humidifier

Had great service from Trevor today. He took care of three problems in one visit and ended up not charging me for my primary concern, a drain that was plugged with hair. Oops! He explained the workings of my furnace in detail that I have never understood before and provided me with some cost-savings ideas. Always like that! Friendly, professional, and respectful of the time I had to go get my kids from school. Would have received a 10 if I had been notified that he was running a little late. Kind of like at my doctor's office, I know he was not there right on time because he was taking extra care with the previous client.

Thanks for your kind words Cheryl and thanks for your understanding about running behind, but I'm sorry we didn't give you a heads up! You're absolutely right though, some technicians are satisfied to get in and out as quick as they can but we like to take the time necessary to get our customers taken care of - one of the many reasons we like giving exact prices up front! You don't need to worry about our guys rushing through their jobs and they can take all the time they need to do it right without having to charge the customer for the difference!

Thanks again, we'll see you the next time you need us!

We noticed a leak under our kitchen sink and decided to call Clearview. The tech who came out was very knowledgeable and did the work quickly and efficiently. We decided that it was preferable to replace the kitchen tap and assembly as it was leaking from more than one place and the unit was almost ten years old It was a great experience and we would definitely recommend this company.

Thanks for your comments Allan! You're right- like anything, sometimes it's better to replace rather than repairing. Often with older fixtures the leak finds the path of least resistance - You fix the leak in one area and it pops up in another. Either way, if the repair is over 25% the cost of replacement, we're always happy to provide replacement options as well as options to repair. We don't like to do cheap band-aid fixes like some of those other guys, but if we can provide options for you, we absolutely will!

Thanks again for choosing Clearview!

Furnace Service on a Holiday, Furnace Tune-Up

We won't be using Clearview ever again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. Regardless of the work they did, for a company who raves about their customer service all over their website, they should probably offer at least passable customer service - and they don't.

On a holiday Monday our furnace in our rental stopped working so we called and few places and Clearview promised they would be there between noon and 3. 3:00pm - no one has shown up yet. We call again to find out what is going on, a guy says they will be there shortly. An hour later, still no one. Call agian - they don't even have our service in their booking system. Our tenants waited around all day on a holiday for this service that finally happened around 6pm.

To "make-up" for this - they offer a complimentary "tune-up" (and a $50 refund on the initial service). I schedule the tune-up, tell our tenants they will be there between 8am and 12pm for the tune-up. I get a phone call at 12:35pm asking if we still want the service - so again, they do not show up within a 4 hour window. Again, our tenant sits at home waiting and again, they do not deliver as promised.

If you value your time, don't bother with Clearview, because they obviously have no respect for their customer's time whatsoever.

I apologize for the service you've received Jenna, it is an unfortunate occurance that is the exception to our usual standard of service - we did our best to make your initial delay up to you by providing a courtesy refund as well as a free service (I might add that John went above and beyond on the free furnace tune up we did - due to your complaints that you felt we should not just tune up but also CLEAN the furnace, we absolutely complied). Having to prioritize emergency calls versus complimentary services such as yesterday's is a tough part of our job that we don't enjoy but I'm sure you can understand how the emergency gas leak situation our technician got held up at would take priority over your free maintenance. I'm sorry we did not call you sooner, we were under the impression that our technician was on his way out to you to be there for roughly 12:00 (the end of the window) but by the time we found out he was called back to the job he was on due to a new gas leak, we called you immediately. We fully admit to our mistake and apologize, but to say we have no respect for our customer's time is inaccurate; if we did not truly respect our customer's time we most certainly would not have tried to make amends by offering both a refund as well as a free service.

Plumbing and heating overhaul in 10 year old home

Thanks Tom! You know, many companies have a self-destructive policy of racing to the bottom as far as pricing goes! You hit the nail on the head - we aren't the cheapest company in Calgary, but the difference is we don't aspire to be! Some companies aren't large enough to warrant anything but the bare minimum cost, but their services, work, and guarantees can often be questionable and who knows just how long they'll be around. There are other companies that do have the facilities for service but don't charge enough for their work or undercut other company's bids on their race to the bottom and can't cover their overhead. This usually means a revolving door of staff (some good, some questionable) and the potential for not being able to keep their doors open - at least under the same name! You may not think this may not impact you but believe me, when you try to get warranty work done on the 9th year of a 10 year warranty and the company has gone under a "Title Change", you may have your work cut out for you! We, however, have been standing tall and proud for almost FIFTEEN years and many more to come right here is Calgary! We charge less than some companies and more than others, but we do it so that we're able to make sure we hire the best technicians that have the best training, the best tools and the best trucks. This means we can get the job done right and guarantee our work as well as our prices!
