Replace cartridge and seat in tub faucet
I had a leaking faucet in the tub of my condo unit. I googled for plumber reviews in Calgary and people seemed happy with Clearview. The technician was friendly and polite.
I suspected the cartridge needed to be replaced. He gave me a quote with various options ranging from $215 for replacing the washer only to $1964 to replace the whole faucet. I was FLOORED! Knowing this was about a 15 minute job I was expecting around $150-$200 to replace the cartridge. I needed the cartridge and seat replaced so the entire thing cost me $560! Since he was already there, I figured "well, that must be the rate in Calgary" and got the work done. I have since looked up plumbing rates in Calgary and have found other plumbers who have their process listed and a cartridge and seat replacement is $195.
My leak is repaired (although the tap turns the opposite direction because he put a cold cartridge on the hot tap - no big deal, it still works) and it cost me 3 times what I was expecting. I probably will look around for a more reasonably priced plumber for the future.
I received a call from their Customer Service Manager. It would seem that customer service is important to them. He did explain their pricing schedule and I DO understand it. He did explain that their overhead is higher so that they can ensure they have quality technicians etc. He did make a reasonable concession that I felt was reasonable. he even offered to come repair tap so it turns the correct way - not anything I was really that fussed about but still good of him. (I should add as well that the technician did ask if it was okay when I pointed it out to him and I really didn't think it was that big of a deal)Kudos on the customer service for sure!!!!
So, their rates are higher. Go into it knowing this and I am sure you will be satisfied.

Jo-Ann, thank you for updating your concern. I can't tell you just how glad I was that we were able to work out a resolution! You're right, some of our prices are higher than other companies (although not as high as others) but we do that for a reason! Many plumbing companies cut prices (and corners) which results in a few things - cheap (lower quality) technicians, cheap products and potentially going out of business due to underselling themselves - we see it all the time in the plumbing world and the real victims are the customers who have warranties with these guys! You'd be shocked at the turnover in small plumbing companies - check out the difference between the 2009 and 2011 yellow pages for examples! Either way, I'm thrilled we were able to resolve this for you, I think we can happily agree to disagree, but just know that if you ever need a company (pushing 15 years old now!) that can be accountable, provide great service, use the best parts and have the best technicians, you know our number!
Thanks again for giving us the chance to resolve this concern and for reflecting the resolution in your review!
