Late last year my air handler broke down. Enercare had come to replace my hot water tank and broke my air handler. As usual they did not compensate me for it instead sold one of their products to replace it. After 4-5 visits by technicians and we spending hundreds of dollars to get drywall cut in unlikely areas so that they could see whats behind the unit they finally told us they will not do it. We waited 2 months without heat for them to say that.

Then i called Michael since his company was listed on the website of the system manufacturer of the unit that had broken down. After a few discussions he found the right unit. His people were awesome and took on a job that everyone had refused and did it. Thank you Michael and team for restoring my faith in the trades. And thank you for making my house warm again.

We had used McKinnon previously with a water tank which has been great. We called them when our central AC broke and they recommended a ductless unit on our second floor. The unit only cools the staircase in our house and nothing else. We still need a portable AC unit in our bedrooms and the rest of our house (except for about 100 sq ft in our stairs is uncomfortably hot. When we told them that the unit was not doing as we were told they came to try to fix it and couldn't. They have not offered anything else and this unit was a complete waste. Next year we are going to need a central AC unit and someone to come and remove the ductless unit they installed, what a waste and horrible customer service.

McKinnon Heating and AC installed a central AC unit, including installing all the exterior wiring, which spanned quite a long way on my house. I was very happy with them because they actually exchanged a unit when the first one was not cooling enough, no questions asked.
Their office staff and the maintenance team is really friendly and helpful. I sincerely appreciated them making the situation right and I was able to enjoy very cool AC after all was fixed. Looking forward to my humidifier in the winter.

I have had several repair people in to address my AC leaking water and no one fixed. I called McKinnon and explained what I was going through to try to fix this. The lady on the phone was very helpful and knowledgeable. She gave me a quote for service and sent out Dennis who tested everything and discovered my problem. The system just needed a through cleaning simple fix. He cleaned all the indoor units (something the other contractor did not seem to know how to do or did not want to do) and the outdoor unit, checked the coolant level and made sure the units were draining properly and no longer leaking before he left All working very well now. And the yes the quote given on the phone is what they charged no extra charges no surprises.

We asked McKinnon for advice about replacing the high-velocity vent covers for our townhouse. When enquiring about suitable vent covers and requesting a quote, I emailed a description of the HVAC system in our building as per status documents, and detailed pictures and measurements of the vent holes and the old vent covers – which McKinnon's owner also asked for, in order to be able to provide us with the right product.
As it turns out, the vent covers ordered for us by McKinnon are unsuitable for our system, so we asked to return them for a refund. After multiple attempts at contacting them about this issue over about a week, they eventually agreed to take them back but charged us a 15% manufacturer's restocking fee (a considerable amount, given the very high initial price of the vent covers). We eventually ended up purchasing custom-made, laser-cut vent covers for a fraction of the price.
I believe we did nothing wrong, as we were sold the wrong product: it is not our job to identify the part to purchase, or we would not have relied on McKinnon in the first place, and I provided McKinnon with plenty of details to come to the conclusion (before we did) that in fact they did not have the right product for us. I appreciate their help in trying to track down a product for us. However, communication and delivery arrangements were less than ideal. In addition, as McKinnon independently identified the most suitable product for us, and the product did not meet the requirements – both breaches of the terms of sale – we should have been entitled to a full refund.

We can't thank you enough for the lovely work you did with this installation. When I went back downstairs to set the room to rights, my eyes saw a flash of metal tape, and as I looked up and around all I could say, in awe, was, "WOW!!!!". Thanks Very much! AMAZING WORK!!!!

I had to replace a 15 year old boiler system which supplies hydronic floor heating for the entire home. This is a fairly large setup with many zone controls. I have done a lot of research on new products and design. I reached out to many installers (some of them top rated here in Homestars) and the "so called" experts but in the end I chose Michael and this team. There are many companies out there who is keen to make a quick buck and easy job. I can tell you my experience with McKinnon was the complete opposite. Michael was very knowledgeable and accommodating on what I really need rather than a good sales pitch. His dream team (Hamid, Michael, Jesus and Yasser) completed the complex work with quality and a sense of accountability and pride. If I can, I will give them more than 10 stars. Thank you Michael and your team in taking on this challenging project and doing what your competitors deem as too difficult to do or they want A LOT more to take this work.

Thank-you for your professionalism. A weekend without hot water is tough, but when you live in a triplex you also have your tenants to consider. Our on-contract, regular service provider (gas hot-water furnace, 2 A/C units, gas fireplace) couldn't help us until Monday, which is when they handed me an outrageous quotation, and another day of waiting because they were 'busy'. I sourced two identical top-of-the-line 40 gallon water heaters (for 30% less than my service provider quoted - and I was buying at retail!), and a chance recommendation lead me to McKinnon who (at 4PM Monday) very kindly agreed to do the installation first thing Tuesday morning. They quoted a reasonable hourly rate for two men, and I accepted. The new tanks arrived at the same time the two technicians from McKinnons did (9AM sharp, as promised), and four hours later the tanks were installed, linked in series, and up-and-running. The work site was cleaned and tidy, and Michael Nepom has earned a new client for all our heating and cooling maintenance and repairs / replacements from now on. The technicians dispatched (Jesus and Michael) worked very well together, and clearly were comfortable with every aspect and trade required... gas-work, plumbing, electrical, mechanical. These guys were a pleasure to watch in action.

I contacted maybe 7 so called 'nest certified' installers trying to find someone who could install a Nest compatible humidifier. Most installers where clueless, and one flat out told me it couldn't be done.

Mckinnon knew immediately what was required. As I'm in a townhouse with space restrictions, Michael had me text me over some photos so he could get an idea of the furnace space, and right away was able to recommend a compatible brand with a quote over the phone.

Their installer Hamid was very professional, and arrived right on time. This was a pretty involved job as water had to be run from another floor, electrical needed some work, and the Nest had to be connected, not to mention the humidifier itself in a tight spot. Hamid had zero problems - was knowledgeable, friendly, and did excellent work. Humidifier was connected flawlessly, and Hamid even took extra time to connect a common wire to my thermostat.

I could not be happier with the service, and the product is working incredibly well. It was refreshing to work with a company keeping up with changing technology
