Rental Water Heater

Similar story to the previous review. We assumed a 10 year hot water rental tank in a home sale. The previous owners were elderly and unlike the 'company policy' states, clearly were coaxed into signing a bad deal. When I asked about the buy out policy the staff on the phone were rude and unhelpful. They said it would be 1900 dollars to buy out the tank. When I asked if I could settle they said based on the purchase of sale price of the home they didn't feel that I warranted a settlement as I could afford to pay the full price. They made huge assumptions and were terrible to deal with. They were discriminatory, unhelpful and unprofessional. CONSUMERS BEWARE.

Hot Water Tank

Horrible to deal with . I Supposedly assumed a 10 year HWT rental for a tear down house from a 94 year old owner who they duped into a 10 year rental. They signed him on the 18th and installed the heater on the 19th. OCHS Company offered nothing but a ridiculous buyout amount. Obviously will not use this company in the future for the new home or recommend this company to anyone. Literally got screamed at by one agent yelling that no matter what they will not remove the hot water tank. The only reasonable people were the two they sent out for a consult who couldn't understand why they were not removing it and potentially putting in a new one when the new house goes up. This company misrepresents themselves (ie. the 94 year olds family had no idea he signed this). When I asked the OCHS they said they verified that the man was between the ages of 18-75 on the phone. Of course they provide no record of this. Uses third party billing through Enbridge to bill you. Quite the set up. No one in the company communicates with anyone else. They also use a third party finance company to enforce their policies. I have yet to see a full contract. I've never encountered a company like this before and will warn anyone I can about this arrangement.

Company Response

Dear Brenda, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience with us. It is against out policy to sign anybody over the age of 75 for a rental agreement. However, any equipment that is currently being rented by the old homeowner does in fact get transferred to the new home owner but that should have been disclosed to you at the time of home purchase. Could you please send me your full contact information to social@ontarioconsumers.com so that I can investigate this further and take necessary actions. Thank you for your assistance in helping us resolve this matter. Customer Care Team, Ontario Consumers Home Services

New furnace

I had a Ontario Consumers sales person come to my door March 17 2015. I should have ignored the door bell. They installed the new furnace March 18 2015 my husband thought he smelt gas that evening but we just figured it was because the furnace was smaller then the old one and they had to cut the pipes. I work from home the next day I had a headache all day, when my husband came home and daughter came home the smell was so strong we realized there was a huge problem. Yes, we had a gas leak....This was fixed but I'm now faced with another problem.....I had a very rude awakening when I went to the Scotia Bank to get a line of credit....my agent at the bank told that Ontario Consumers has had Home Trust put a lien on my house April 7 2015. I was never told they would put a lien against my house or I would have gone to get a loan from the bank (an option I was not given by the sales person). The amount of the lien is $6562.00. I had the bank call and speak to an Nathan in the billing department to arrange payment of this amount only to find out the payout amount is $10800.47.....What another rude awakening. I've tried called on a number of occasions and there's no one that is even willing to help. I'm told by Scotia Bank that I can't even renew my mortgage with this lien on the property.
I'm just so frustrated this furnace has been in my house for just over a month....... The sales person told us the that charge would appear on the Enbridge bill in which it does ....never once said anything about them putting a lien on my house.
I'm at wits end I really don't know what to do at this point. One of the Ontario Consumer employee's actually told me that the information about the lien was in the paper work from the company .....I just received this paperwork from the company on April 20 2015.
I would really appreciate any suggestions as to what I can do as I don't have $10800.47.
Do yourself a favor NEVER use this company

Furnace installation

IN JANUARY 2015 WE HAD ONTARIO CONSUMERS INSTALL A PROPANE FURNACE, THE GUYS THAT DID THE INSTALL WERE TERRIFFIC, NOTHING BUT PRAISE FOR THEM..........BUT!!!!!!.......I KNEW I SHOULD NOT HAVE LET THEM INSTALL THE FURNACE BECAUSE AT 9 PM THE NIGHT BEFORE INSTALL I GOT A CALL FROM AN OUTSIDE COMPANY TELLING ME THEY WOULD BE THERE IN THE MORNING WHEN ONTARIO CONSUMERS CAME TO INSTALL AND THEY WOULD REMOVE THE OIL TANK AT A COST OF $650.00 TO ME.
I IMMEDIATELEY CALLED OCHS AND SPOKE WITH SOMEONE THAT STATED IT WAS A MISTAKE AND ALL WOULD GO AS SCHEDULED AND THE OIL TANK REMOVAL WAS INCLUDED. WELL 2 1/2 MONTHS LATER I STILL HAVE AN OIL TANK IN MY BASEMENT, THE WHOLE REASON FOR CHANGING FURNACE WAS THAT MY HOME INSURANCE IN MY RENEWAL SAID I COULD NO LONGER HAVE AN OIL TANK IN MY BASEMENT.

I HAVE CALLED ONTARIO CONSUMERS SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO GET PUPPETS TO ANSWER AND SAY THEY WOULD DIRECT MY CALL TO A "MARILYN " THE MANAGER AND SHE WOULD GET BACK TO ME WITHIN AN HOUR SHE IS OR WAS BUSY..........WELL SHE NEVER CALLS ME IT HAS TAKEN DAYS AND I HAVE TO INITIATE THE CALL BACK AND CAN NEVER SPEAK TO A MANAGER , ALWAYS "I WILL REVIEW THIS AND GET SOMENE TO GET BACK TO YOU ASAP...................THE COMPANY IS DEMANDING PROOF OF OWNERSHIP OF MY HOME WHICH I HAVE OWNED AND LIVED IN FOR 7 YEARS. THIS WAS NEVER MENTIONED IN THE AGREEMENT I SIGNED WITH THEM FOR INSTALL, THIS ONLY BROUGHT UP WHEN I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THE OIL TANK TO BE REMOVED
MY LATEST CALL WAS A THREATING MESSAGE " WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE OUT OIL TANK UNTIL WE GET A COPY OF A TAX BILL."

AFTER SEVERAL CALLS I HAVE HAD PEOPLE APPROACH ME ABOUT REMOVING THE TANK AND OIL, SENT BY OCHS BUT THEY ARE LOCAL "JUNK DEALERS" WITH NO LICENCES OR INSURANCE TO DO JOB.
WELL THE BOTTOM LINE IS I HAVE CONTACTED LEGAL COUNCIL AND IN THE MIDST OF SETTING UP A LITIGATION THAT WILL IMPOSE A "DAILY" FINANCIAL CHARGE AGAINST THE COMPANY FOR AS LONG AS THE JOB HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED..............THE REAL KICKER IS I HAVE NEVER USED THE FURNACE I HEAT WITH WOOD THE FURNACE HASNT RUN SINCE THE DAY THE INSTALLERS FIRED IT, MAYBE OCHS SHOULD JUST BRING BACK MY OLD FURNACE TAKE THEIR FURNACE OUT OF MY BASEMENT AND WASH MY HANDS OF THIS COMPANY

Furnace and water heater

I had both my furnace and water heater replaced in 2012 by Ontario consumers (big mistake) they didn't return my old water tank to my previous provider in a timely manner so I was still being billed for something I didn't possess. Secondly, the rebate promised was also not granted until several months later because they didn't send the application on time. Instead they sent me a new doc to apply for the rebate from OPA stating that my furnace was installed in 2013 instead of 2012, which was false, to cover up their mistake. I recently asked for a buy out because I noticed my bill has increased dramatically and they simply sent me some ridiculous prices with no explanation 6000 for furnace and 3000 for the water heater. So if you are reading this don't sign up its a suicide mission!

Furnace and ac

Do not let these people into your home, they are crooks. We had a furnace and ac installed, payments stayed the same for the first year then jumped almost 10 bucks a month more. Plus they put a lien on your house so you are screwed if you want to borrow from your equity. Definitely would not recommend these ppl to my worst enemy
