HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. The lengthys you need to go to to deal with this company .... even when you want to give them money for no actual service .... to honour contract ... is ridiculous
Brief history is as follows:
I moved to Alberta earlier this year from Manitoba.
I had a contract with ADT Protectron for security monitoring of an alarm.
The company were advised of the move, we moved and brought equipment with us as instructed.
I have not reinstalled equipment and no longer wish to use their service.
I have a contract with them.
ADT agree I am not obliged to reinstall the system or ever use it again
I advised them I would continue to pay my bill to the end of the current agreement and I have no issue there.
They stated they would not allow this to occur
They initially stated it was illegal for them to do so - changed this at a later stage and stated it was against their policy
ADT closed the account against my wishes and I believe have passed the issue to this agency
I maintained throughout that I wanted to continue paying my bill as per our contract
ADT sent me an invoice and demanded a lump sum payment
I communicated with them on a number of occasions and advised of my willingness to honour the terms of our contract and pay monthly
ADT are in my view in breach of the contract
On the 13th June I received a call from METCREDIT
I confirmed with her that she was contacting the correct person a number of times and she used the address I had for the alarm in MB
She stated a matter had been placed in her hands,
No further info was provided
My assumption is that ADT has passed this matter to METCREDIT
I assume this as I have no dispute or outstanding debt with any other party than ADT
She then focused on questions in relation to my address and demanded yes/ no answers
When these were not forthcoming she implied that and stated that this would have a negative affect on me...... I believe this to be an implied threat towards an impact on my excellent credit rating
I believe this is in direct contravention of sec 12 (1)(J) of the Alberta Fair Trading Act - Collection and Debt Repayment Practices and regulations. ... Prohibited Practices Prohibited practices for collection agencies 12(1) No collection agency or collector may give any person, directly or indirectly, by implication or otherwise, any false or misleading information, including, but not limited to, references to the police, a law firm, prison, credit history, court proceedings or a lien or garnishment;
They, METCREDIT have been informed via e mail that this is a dispute not a debt and they must cease to contact me in relation to this matter as I will deal with ADT directly
I have informed ADT PROTECTRON that I will continue to deal with them in relation to this matters
