After being quoted $2500 from an independent contractor to fix the heat exchanger, I turned to Michael and his team at McKinnon. A service technician came out the same day. McKinnon installed my furnace several years ago - was quite satisfied with their price and service, but they didn't have the AC brand I wanted (Lennox) when I replaced my AC about 3 years ago, so went with another installer.

AC wasn't cooling properly this season, so contacted the original installer (a different company), who sent out a tech 3 times, who only proceeded to charge it up. The 3rd visit, I didn't even see their tech on site and got a call from a unknowledgeable customer service rep that I needed a new coil that would take a month to get.

After over a month, I called McKinnon to come and take a look - their tech was extremely thorough and tore everything apart trying to diagnose the issue...something the other company should have done. Turns out, when installed (by the other company), they did not install a part required to maintain differential pressure. Part installed and AC has worked perfectly ever since.

I've been happy in all the interactions I've had with McKinnon and if not for my preference for the AC brand, would have had them install it as well. I intend to use them for all future servicing.

Just had the two installers leave after replacing our hot water heater. McKinnon's price was $900 less than another quote that i received. The installers were super polite, neat and cleaned everything up. did not complain about having to move the washer. they were great! highly recommend this service.

Bob from Preferred Air responded promptly to my call for AC service. He came on time as promised and quickly diagnosed the issue. My AC would not restart after a power outage. He solved the problem with a new capacitor. Honest, professional and courteous.

I have been employing their services for my business and for my personal residence for more than 20 years. Most recent work was to fix my air-conditioning unit in July 2020.
I am always impressed by their quick and friendly response and their professionalism in their ability to quickly find the problem, identify a solution and complete the work in a cost effective manner.

Here are the reasons for my 5 star rating:

1. I am a demanding customer. I communicated with Michael over 15 times (email and phone) before the installation, regarding unit model numbers, multiple quotes, changes to installation options. Each time Michael responded promptly and with patience.
2. Michael visited us twice and his lead installer visited once even prior to the installation, during their busy season. Michael also visited the site during the installation. This shows focus on the customer.
3. His lead installer was patient, thorough and genuinely interested in doing a good job. Instead of a day and quarter, they spent two days to get the installation right. The finished install looks great.
4. Some issues came up during installation like incorrect parts from the supplier. Michael's family got involved, rushed to the supplier, picked up the correct parts and brought them to the site to get the job done on time.
5. Michael followed up a few days after installation to check how everything was working.

I am glad I listened to my gut feel after meeting with Michael and decided to go with them. For us the entire experience was very positive and I would recommend Mckinnon without hesitation.

The initial installation in 2012 took 2 weeks instead of 2 days and never worked properly and included a massive unexpected drywall repair. Yearly trouble, countless service calls, subpar performance and endless phone calls to the manufacturer - we discovered the reason: incompetent installation: The most important wire was rated for indoors (not outdoor) and was solid, not stranded, causing circuit boards to receive widely fluctuating voltages crippling the while system until they burned out, and now, only one unit works at a time - and barely. To fix this is going to take about $2000 minimum per unit. Eventually, the company gave up calling us back.
