We'd been a long term customer of Clark Basement Systems with an installation going back 10 years. We have done consistent annual maintenance every single year. This summer, we had a storm with an extended power outage and the battery backup pump failed to move any water, requiring me to hand bail the sump pit. I get it, old equipment can fail, but I believe they should have been more proactive on replacing old components (which we did on the most recent service). However, the battery is also old and I was told to go procure and install my own replacement. I expect the company to maintain their system -- including procurement and installation of any replacement components. I feel like we've been left to our own devices here, which is not something I appreciate for something so important. I am not faulting our service tech who has been consistently reliable and has done excellent work over the years. But I do feel somewhat abandoned by Groundworks.

Contacted Smart Charge to install an EV charging station for a newly purchased vehicle. Ellie was great throughout the whole process. I didnt know much about it, and she recommended a charger, provided it, and was very responsive with the quote and full process. The team that did the work was excellent. Very neat, and cleaned up afterwards. When we had a minor issue, Ellie had a technician on site the next day to resolve it. Very satisfied and would recommend!

We hired Andy to renovate my daughter's bedroom with new hardwood floors and painting. Andy worked with us to recommend high quality suppliers of materials. At the same time, we replaced all of the carpeting in our upstairs hallway and stairs. The end result was great. Andy is reliable and does high quality work. Highly recommended.

The blower fan on our furnace went out -- fortunately in May and not February. I picked AccuServ based on good reviews on Homestars and they did not disappoint. Timely service, good communication, and Rahul (our field service technician) was thorough, knowledgeable, and even went the extra mile to check out our AC unit to see if was contributing the root cause (it was). The only negative was the high charge for a diagnostic visit (>$100) which was not applicable to any future service, but that seems to be standard practice these days.

Hi Adam,

Thank you for your review of AccuServ. The timing of your blower motor was fortunate enough to be during the rainy month of May instead of February as you aptly mentioned. Our goal is always to be on time and provide a reliable stream of communication and look at the entire system as a whole. Through initial consultation to completion we sincerely hope that you were able to gain a more complete picture of the inner workings of your system and the reasons as to the blower motor failure. Glad to have been of service and look forward to hearing from you again.

Regards,
Jake

Our water in the basement saga has a new chapter, and one that Waterworks helped us resolve satisfactorily. We started with an interior water management solution from Clark Basement Systems (which I remain very happy with overall). Then we used Waterworks to put in a sewer backflow prevention valve on the main sewer line... again, the quality of the work was outstanding. However, one side effect was that in the maintenance access pit for the backflow prevention valve, we were getting some groundwater seepage. Admittedly, I would have expected this to have been handled by the interior water management solution we'd previously put in place, but this water was not coming from the perimeter, and thus, the perimeter defense was inneffective. I discussed the problem with Waterworks, and they eventually came up with a very creative solution to allow the water to drain properly by fiitting the backflow prevention valve with a one-way drainage valve. Since that work was done, no more issue, and the cost was far better than having to install yet another sump pump. Very pleased with the "outside the box" thinking and we have been dry ever since. Highly recommended.

This was our first annual maintenance since installing a complete waterproofing system and triple safe sump pump from Clarke Basement Systems. Ali was great... explained everything, and provided some helpful tips and advice on keeping the system operating efficiently. We've been very satisfied with Clarke Basement Systems from initial installation to ongoing service.

We had completed a full interior waterproofing project last April, and the backwater valve was the final missing piece of protection that I'd wanted to do. I'd had Waterworks in to investigate another minor leak, and asked them to undertake this work. They had someone on site the same week, and when the project couldn't be completed on the Friday that they started, they had someone show up Saturday morning to complete the work. Cleanup after the fact was outstanding... hard to believe given the large pile of dirt that was on my laundry room floor during the project! Throughout it all, Michael and the waterworks staff kept in regular contact to ensure that things were progressing, and even assisted me in applying for the appropriate permits from the City of Toronto. Really outstanding commitment to customer satisfaction.

We'd had chronic water issues in our basement, and after the February thaw this year, when we got water in an area we'd never had issues with before, I decided to deal with the problem once and for all. Called Clark Basement Systems (CBS) based on very positive reviews on this site. They sent out a package of material to review ahead of time, and we were able to schedule a consultation about 3 weeks out. Dean (our sales rep) was knowledgeable, punctual, and put together a comprehensive proposal for a full perimeter system (which comes with a transferable lifetime guarantee), and we scheduled the work for April. Rob and crew were great... always kept me informed on what they were doing, and consulted me before making any decisions that would impact the solution. The team was hard working and cheerful, and did their best to minimize mess. CBS also put me in touch with a good contractor to do the finish work in the basement, and coordination with them was good (we needed to disconnect our furnace cold air return for the waterproofing work). Despite some initial miscommunications on the furnace work, CBS was great in following up with me and making sure things got done. Ultimately, I am impressed with the system, and looking forward to seeing how it performs. The TripleSafe Sump Pump is a huge step up from our old sump pump too. Overall, a very positive experience.

We needed two new toilets installed, and have been using Waterworks since they did our main sewer line replacement a year ago. As usual, Michael was prompt, efficient, and professional, and does outstanding work. Waterworks was even able to get us on the schedule a week or so earlier than originally promised. Highly recommend.

One of the skylights in our kitchen sunroom had developed a leak which was starting to cause damage to the interior finish as well... so we decided to replace both aging skylights to avoid further issues. I contacted Andy after reading his many positive reviews on homestars and he called me back the same day and agreed to come by the next day to provide a quote. He also promised to come by later that day to put a tarp over the leaking skylight to prevent further damage, and sure enough, there he was at 8pm that night putting up the tarp. Andy provided a fixed cost quote and and was punctual, reliable, knowledgeable and friendly. He came when he said he would, and performed the work in 2 days as promised. The quality of the work was excellent -- Andy obviously takes pride in his work, and we could not be more satisfied. Andy even touched up part of the kitchen ceiling that had been damaged from a previous plumbing leak some time ago -- all without being asked! I whole heartedly recommend Andy's Skylights.

Our sewer drain was blocked which caused significant flooding in our basement. During the course of the initial cleanup, Michael from Waterworks happened to be passing by and stopped to offer advice and diagnostic assistance to help assess the root cause of the issue. Waterworks has a crew on-site the next day to start the sewer replacement and Michael gave upfront pricing, as well as a very accurate estimate of how long the work would take. We were very satisfied with the quality of the work as well as the overall responsiveness of Waterworks during a rather stressful time and would not hesitate to use their services again. My only issue was with the followup work we requested to make sure our sump pump system was ok... the technician that was sent out (not Michael) initially did not do anything due to some tiles that had been stored in the sump room... after I had cleaned them out (a 4 minute task), he returned and simply reattached the battery to the backup sump pump. While I recognize that Waterworks did not do the installation of our sump pump (I'm sure it would have been done better if they had!), I would have appreciated a closer look to ensure proper functioning. They do appear to be ok though, and we were not charged for the sump pump call. My overall experience with Waterworks was excellent and I recommend them wholeheartedly.
