Split A/C service maintenance

AccuServ was recommended by my son who had a good experience with the company last winter in connection with a combi water heater system

Habib arrived on site early and was thorough in his servicing. He went on the roof to examine the outside units which previous technicians had not done. The units now work very well. He was quite pleasant and provided a written post visit assessment. We are pleased and happy to support an east end family owned business

high-efficiency furnace maintenance

I arranged for the maintenance of my high-efficiency furnace by Accuserv on Oct 26/23. It was a pleasant man but he did not do the job. I was with him the entire time. At first, he had no idea how to access my furnace - after a while, he figured it out. That was the first hint that he was not able to do the maintenance on a high-efficiency furnace. He fumbled around a bit. He did not take any pictures. I complained to Mr Memije by email stating that I would like him to send someone else to do the job or reimburse me. I sent him youtube videos on what the maintenance of a high-efficiency furnace should include. He responded to my email sending me a report on the maintenance that included a lot of pictures. I stated that it was not about my furnace and that of the 4 steps in 4 videos only step one had been done. I gave him several days to meet my request. He has not. I was never shown the report at the time and so as a result there is no client signature .

Great Service

We are in the middle of renovations and tried to turn the furnace on for the first time this fall and it would not engage. I called another company who couldn't send someone until a week later unless I paid for emergency service, so then I called AccuServ and they sent a technician over the same day for their normal inspection rate. James arrived within the window they said he would, and he called once he was on the way. He was friendly and efficient, quickly diagnosing the problem with the wiring connecting to the thermostat and fixed it just as quickly. He also took the time to test another part of the furnace to make sure things were running well. He was knowledgeable too, giving tips on maintenance and answering my questions about heat-pumps which I learned is a service they also provide. Great service, will definitely use them going forward for all my heating/AC services and would recommend them to anyone. They also followed up the next day to schedule the maintenance appointment I had requested, and also followed up with the heat-pump information I requested. Everyone I dealt with by phone/email/in person were professional and helpful.

Pictures speak louder than stars!

Summary:
Their installers lacked proper training, resulting in various problems with the AC units over the years, including falling units, condensation issues, and extensive wall damage. Accuserv only provided temporary fixes instead of addressing the root cause. Despite having warranty, they refuse to service properly and expect me to bear future expenses. I chose Accuserv based on good reviews and warranty, but their professionalism didn't match their 5 star façade. Buyer beware!
Details:
Accuserv informed me via email, they are dropping me as a client due to my "unrealistic expectations". Accuserv installed a brand new AC/HVAC 4 years ago. Unfortunately the installers assigned to my project lacked proper training and expertise.
From the onset, there were problems with the install and performance of the ACs. Issues included AC head unit falling off the wall, improper insulation causing condensation, no peat traps installed, no heat in the winters, multiple head units leaking water that resulted in extensive wall damage.
On one occasion, they dislodged a drain tube behind the wall that resulted in extensive water damage, where I had to replace drywall, insulation and paint. I have incurred thousands of dollars in expenses as a result of Accuservs problematic install. Over the years, they have tried to mitigate these problems with temporary fixes, always coming for a service call, yet failing to address the root cause of the issue - their incompetent installation behind the walls! I have asked them to reinstall it properly but they refuse and opted for quick fixes instead, until today.
I followed Accuserv's maintenance schedule recommendation since the onset. Shortly after the last cleaning, the AC unit heads were again leaking greasy grime and condensation was dripping down the grills. A service call was promptly followed by an email from Accuserv that states the following:
"It is with regret that we have decided to discontinue our services due to the difficulties we have encountered in what we deem are unrealistic expectations. We understand that the system we installed is still under warranty, and we want to make sure you know that we take full responsibility for any legitimate issues that may arise during this period. To ensure that any potential issues are resolved, we propose the following course of action: if you encounter a problem with the system, we ask that you engage a third-party technician to assess the situation and determine the cause. If the third-party technician concludes that the problem is related to our installation, we would be open to discussing the possibility of reimbursing you for the expenses incurred in having the other technician fix the issue. "
According to Accuserv, having a problem free installation is an unrealistic expectation that installations should not damage my property and I have to incur expenses for any future issues with the AC, despite the fact that I have an 8 year warranty remaining.
I chose Accuserv due to 5 star reviews and warranty. If I was going to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a AC/HVAC install, I wanted someone reliable, and knowledgeable. A company that takes responsibility and stands by their work. The 12 year no lemon warranty seemed to provide the security I needed to trust the installation to Accuserv. I did not want to cut corners and pay the price later. Yet, despite all this, I have been paying the price dearly by choosing this company. Accuserv presents a pristine professional façade and I was fooled. Buyer Beware. Look at the pictures, not at the stars !!!

Control panel

Called to get help on a very hot day. They insisted it was a control panel needed. I accepted the diagnostic. The install happened quickly and a deposit was required. After the install within 2 weeks the furnace shut down completely. I called them and they said I need a new furnace. I asked other companies to look at our situation. Yes a new furnace was required from the beginning not a 750.00 control panel.
Accuserve was not truthful. The owner called and I was refunded in full.. I appreciate the attention to my situation.

would not recommend, won't use again

first they sell us on a particular model central air unit, then a heat wave hits and they tell us they can't get it for another 2 weeks and might not be able to install it for another 3-4 weeks. so they upsell us on a more expensive model that they have in stock. then they come to the house to do the install and don't use the existing entry points into the house and make new ones and charge us an extra $500 to do so. not only was this work of poor quality and now we're going to have to pay extra to make it look nicer, but they didn't clean up the old lines. then when I try to pay off the bill they said they were going to charge me an extra 2% processing fee because I wanted to use my credit card and pay it off in a single transaction instead of doing multiple e-transfers.

Company Response

Good Morning Private User,

I would love to assist you with this concern. I never want one of our customers to feel they have been taken advantage of.

It was your choice to proceed with the purchase of our "premium" AC, instead of waiting for the "Regular" AC to be back in stock. Unfortunately the supply chain is still broken thanks to COVID, and all suppliers are short on AC units this season. Even with planning ahead there are still pending shipments from February 2022, that are still to arrive.

When our Comfort Specialist attended your home the mechanical room and basement were so jam packed with items he had to make a second trip after you cleared a path for access. At that time he did explain to your "on site contact" that the copper line set may require replacement if it didn't pass the pressure testing. The existing line set unfortunately failed the pressure test, so it needed replacement. Line set replacement is not included in our pricing(flushing and pressure testing is), so when it failed we quoted you for the extra costs. The existing line set was over 50ft long and used the "zig-zag" pattern to get from the condenser to the indoor coil. Our installers are taught to take the shortest path, to avoid excess wear and tear on the AC units.

Our Comfort Specialist did speak with your "on site contact" regarding coming back to remove the old copper line set. Which we are happy to schedule at your/their convenience.

As for the 2% credit card convenience fee, if you read all the documentation that was send prior to your install you would have seen this is clearly explained there.

I don't doubt the validity of your review although I am disappointed that you would not mention your concerns with any of our staff for resolution. Rather you choose to post a damaging review as "Private User".

If you're just looking for a platform to vent, please proceed; Homestars is an excellent platform.

Should you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

Regards,
The Accuserv Team

SERVICE ABOVE AND BEYOND

Accuserv installed my furnace and water heater and comes for yearly maintenance. After 6 years our furnace had problems and they were there promptly and stayed until the issue was resolved even working after their shift was over to install the needed part on a Friday night! Daniel’s commitment and congenial nature, not to mention his skill at accurately diagnosisIng the problem and fixing it was exemplary . Thank you Accuserv.

Hot Water Heater Tank replacement (electric to gas installation)

For the above service, I had estimates from several company. I chose AccuServ for a few reasons;

1) They have the best blog talking about efficiency of water heater tank (gas vs electric) - very easy to read and understand for a layperson like me.
2) They sent a consultant almost immediately after a first call
3) Vlad, the consultant, was very friendly and answered all of my stupid questions without rolling his eyes.
4) The price (including minor construction) was very competitive comparing others (one company estimated $6000 for the same job...)

The office was very accessible and easy to work with. 2 technicians who came on time, comcored all challenges we have in our small basement, cleaned up everything after their work. The tank works flawlessly thus far and no longer running out hot water during showers.

Only thing (not complain though) is I wish I could use my credit card without 2% charge (and their automated invoice system was a bit annoying) but I love my new tank and nothing to take any stars away. Thank you!
