Sos Appliance Repair

Think hundreds of times before you call these people. They came to my restaurant offering to fix my commercial dishwasher they take deposit money promising that they will get some spare parts and put them to get my machine ready to use. They did not show up after that and whenever I call I just get promises that the technician is going to call back. I gave up from calling them and I started to ask for my money back by emails. Nobody replied of course till I sent them an email warning them that I will go for police fraud report, report to Canadian Crime Stopper Association, report to their association to reconsider their license number, and going for trial to ask for substitution for the loses in my restaurant because of that delay. That time I got a reply for the first time from them confirming that they approved my cheque to get me money back. I received the cheque already with the half payment only. So, I am considering go to court

i called for service that they say is 24 hours. they arrive and tell me the part is back ordered and will take 10 business days. No one calls back to confirm. Its now 3 weeks and still no part and no one from the companu calls back. Worst customer service ever!!

They were called to repair a sub-zero fridge which was showing a "service" warning. They arrived promptly, examined the unit, and declared that the fan motor required service. They were there for 35 minutes, claimed that the issue had been solved and charged $350. The next day the "service" warning was still showing and there was a burning smell emanating from the fridge. Another repair man from a competitor was called, examined the fridge and said the fan had not been serviced. I was overcharged for service that was not provided.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!

Tricked my wife: said that they couldn't fix it and had to go check for parts, but charged her $316 dollars. I am launching a complaint with the better business bureau.

I had a problem with my refrigerator last December. The serviceman came promptly and fixed the starter, giving me a 6 month guarantee. The problem arose again 5 months later, and though SOS Appliance services promised to come, they did not, and did not respond after the initial contact. Would not recommend.

In November 2013 we called SOS Appliance Repair Inc when our over 20 year old dryer stopped working. They quoted the standard $80 service call fee. Once the service man opened up the machine he told us it was going to be $280 to fix it. We agreed to this, the final bill came to $314. When he finished, he advised us not to put large loads into the machine and it should run fine. He also told us that should the dryer stop running again, it will need a new motor, which will be $390.
When we tried to use the dryer after the repair, with a very light load of a single towel, it started with the same grinding noise it made prior to the repair and stopped after less than a minute.
We called the company to let them know that the dryer was in fact not fixed and we requested that they reimburse us for the repair cost minus the $80 service call and that we were not going to finance a new $390 motor for an old machine when a new dryer can be purchased for under $700.
We have e-mailed and called several times, some of our calls were answered by their receptionist with the promise that the manager would call us back. He never did, nor did they ever reply to our e-mail. In a nutshell, we essentially paid SOS Appliance Repair Inc over $300 to open up our machine and clean out the lint.
We have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to which SOS's response was that we refused to order a new motor so they couldn't help us.
Hopefully forums like this will eventually have an effect on the business of unaccountable companies like SOS.

If you are considering SOS Appliance Repair, do yourself a favour and think again. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
I came across this company on the internet when my ice dispenser stopped working. What a big mistake. I wish I did some research before I called them.
They gave me the standard price of $80 of diagnostic fee for the technician to come and see what the problem is and of course they tell you that the $80 is waived if you end up using their services. The technician showed up and said that the problem is with the motor. He would try to fix it for $260. he unscrewed the motor and put it back on (literally 10 min job), tried it and it worked with a weird noise. When I asked him, he said it's normal. He charged me $300 for 30 min of work. He left and when the ice bin filled up with ice, I tried it again but guess what??? it did not work. I called the company and left few messages and wrote them couple of emails to try to get this resolved but no one has got back to me.
I don't understand how a company and a management like this can stay in business. my advice to anyone out there who is thinking of SOS is STAY AWAY!!!!

My elderly mother called out SOS Appliance Repair on November 25th, to repair her washer/dryer. The technician charged her $430.00. She used her machine one single time, and when she attempted to use it a second time, three days later, it did not function again. She again called SOS Appliance Repair, and the technician, on the phone, said that it would be an additional $600 to repair it a second time, based on his estimation. For shame SOS Appliance Repair. At the first visit the repairman should have been decent enough to explain to my mother that it was a 22 year old machine and she should not spend a cent on repairing it, and should instead purchase a new machine set. Instead he charged her over $400 and then wanted to charge her an additional $600!!!!!! Where is his decency? Does this company make a point of taking advantage of the elderly? My mother was ready to spend over $1000 to repair a 22 year old machine……..when she could have bought a new one for less than this. Where are his ethics? What kind of a company does this? For shame SOS Appliance! For shame! This is a terrible company that gauges the elderly.

After unsuccessful dealings with one of their competitors, I hired SOS to repair my Samsung wahser and fridge. SOS has a slick website, they were professional on the phone and SOS's technician (Tom) was prompt, reliable and polite. SOS fixed a broken ice maker (fridge) and a cracked door lock (washer) quickly and relativley economically (I procured the part and SOS performed the labour). I will call them again if I have any other issues.

I recently have my LG fridge done(?) by SOS Appliance Repair Inc technician...before coming to my house,i stated in their website the problem of my fridge...their technician came (his name is Tom),he checked the fridge ,opened a small window with three screws at the back where the circuit board is located , checking his smartphone at the same time,i guess searching in the internet with the same problem as mine...he failed to fix it and he told me that i need a new circuit board and presently he doesn't have one the same as mine....he was looking for that defective part in the internet through his phone but he can't find it,he told me that the needed part is not available in the market anymore(i bought the fridge at Leon's just 3 years ago)....when the technician left i myself searched the internet for that part and was able to find it in 5 minutes and ordered one as soon as i found it (the part cost only $116)... i think the guy doesn't know what he's doing as a technician.The sad part was that he charged me $80 for the visit or consultation and $25 for the labor WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING AT ALL .I paid a total of $115 to a repair company that for me doesn't exist.
