horrible service

I had a horrible experience with this company. they took 3 hours to pick up 1 bedroom condo with me helping them to load the truck. They called me 6 times to change the time of delivery. They delivered half of my furniture damaged.

Moving

Paid almost dbl the quoted amount for a one bedroom move from Ontario to Alberta. They broke items and 1 was missing a mountain bike and a projector screen. Both items were valued at over $2000 but to their little to no coverage offered (they insure you $37 on $1000) is a joke .. I actually owed them money according to the claim i received. They did do me a favor an offer me $50 settlement offer. Do yourself a favor look elsewhere for movers or rent yourself a uhaul. Paying $3000 to move a one bedroom home (no appliances) to loss $2000 worth of our stuff and to be insulted by a $50 settlement offer is well worth the extra effort to have done the move myself!! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE ..STAY FAR FAR AWAY

Move

Used Atlantic Van Lines for my recent move from Durham Region to Oxford County.

First of all I couldn't understand why they could not pick up and deliver on the same day but we survived and managed.

On the day of the move they guys came and starting throwing things into boxes, wrapping things and taking things out of the house. That was fine however when it started to rain they just left things out to get rained on. Had to replace lamp shades on a few lamps etc....

The next day once the truck arrived with our things the guys started moving things in. However because of the heat they took a lot of breaks, an while we tried to help as much as we could, the move in seem to take forever. A lot of stuff was just dumped and not placed where we asked them to place things. In getting my mattress upstairs the banister was broken and is a safely concern as it is very lose as the base was split. My sister had a disability that makes her unsteady therefore a broken wobbly banister post is very much a safety concern. Our memory foam bed toppers were dirtied & damaged. The guys wrapped things like a camping cooler & lawn chairs they did not wrap our memory bed topper. They were just placed in the truck which resulted in one being very dirty and the other one having a very large tare in it. They also broke a dresser and lost screws to our patio table. I paid $3,495.23 for this service to then be told that I don't qualify for an coverage for damages but they offered me $50.00 upon written consent that no further action will be taken on my part.

Something's definitely not right when they send you a note stating that we'll give you $50.00 only if you sign a statement that no further action regarding damages will take place.

Move From Edmonton to Montreal

Used Atlantic Van Lines twice now. We moved out to Edmonton a year ago and came back now this year in October. We had a perfect move going out to Edmonton and the staff at both ends were terrific. I would have to say that Mark the truck driver was great to deal with and has a great sense of humor.
A bit of a panic this time around as the movers were late, but it all worked out as they sent a back up truck.
There was a ladder that was forgotten at the warehouse, but later dropped off. I have one item damaged but I have already approached the account manager about it and I am sure that they will take care of it.

We used them both times not only because their prices are really fair but also because they are always approachable. Luce was my rep last time and Samantha helped on the coming back move, but both of them were fantastic. I was happy with their services and would recommend them anytime.

NEVER USE!!!!!! Atlantic Movers owned by Troy.

I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. WE WERE QUOTED $1600. THEN CHARGED $4100 UPON ARRIVAL. ATLANTIC HAS A REPUTATION FOR BEING CORRUUPT WITH THEIR WEIGH SCALES AS WE HAVE JUST EXPERIENCED. THE TRUCK WAS REWEIGHED AND CAME IN AT OUR ORIGINAL QUOTE. BUT THEY REFUSE TO LOWER THE PRICE TO ITS ORIGINAL AMOUNT AND KEPT OUR STUFF. THEY WILL BE HEARING FROM MY LAWYER AND BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE PRESS.

One bedroom from ON to MB

I do not recommend this company. First because I paid for a weight that did not correspond with my estimate. It's far above reality. My case as an example, a small studio with only one bedroom, very little furniture. I estimated 1100lbs and they informed 1920lbs. Second, when I received the invoice they made the wrong calculation ($103 to more). Simple account and they admitted the error, correcting the value (they'd gain from it). Third, when I received my furniture most of them were damaged. When I checked the items, realized that glass of coffee table was missing and asked the dispatcher where it was. He simply said it broke and keep in contact with the company to complain it. He had the gall to say that it would be impossible to recover the losses because I had paid for a basic service. I said what do you mean? He added with a bad joke: it's the same as buying an flight ticket, there is no money to travel in first class, travelling in a economy class and has no benefits. A totally unprofessional attitude.
I contacted the company and after 5 weeks I received the verdict. As I have not declared values (I have not been instructed to do, I believe the company omit this clause, just to not pay damages) I would only be reimbursed for a measly $ 50. while my loss was aproximadamento $ 500.
I am in contact with the owner Anita and soon we report here her answer

Move

We did our research online to make sure we hired reputable movers not knowing that Atlantic van lines is just a booking agency, they are not movers. The worst rated movers on the web are who showed to pick up our stuff, the second worst rated movers delivered our stuff to our home. The moving men from both moving companies were dirty, smelly, older guys who spoke Turkish to each other so we couldn't understand them. They tried to charge us for 2000 pounds more than we had, but we insisted on a reweigh and caught them red handed- no apology, explanation, nothing. Then we discovered that at least $5000 worth of my wife's clothes were missing, our outdoor woven furniture was destroyed and our microwave and a few kitchen boxes are missing. We were given the runaround until we decided our sanity was worth more than what we would collect from the insurance which was next to nothing, yet they make it next to impossible to get it. Next time we move we will hire a company that does the actual moving and has good reviews, which will cost more upfront but far less in the end as we estimate our losses at $6000+$4000 for the moving costs.

montreal to toronto move by atlantic van lines

My move went off without any issues, Hank and his co worker which i forgot his name took care of my furniture better then most people take care of their children. All my own packed boxes arrived with nothing broken and even the Manager of the condo project said these guys which Hank came to deliver said "these guys know what they are doing". Samantha at Atlantic should be an owner, she is great, caring and efficient. the best move I have ever had. Thank you Atlantic Van Lines and see again for the balance April 18 2015. Storage/Move

Great service from Atlantic Van lines. Both Lucy and Anita have been very kind and easy to deal with (they are managers of the place). I was very happy with the service we received at delivery end.
We moved from Quebec, QC to the Toronto, ON area and had our goods in storage for almost 3.5 years. We have been building our home and had finally accepted our possessions last month.
The company was very accommodating to us in letting us access the shipment and we were able to take some items and bring some back during this very long period of time. We did not foresee this taking so long, but the builder did push the dates back on us twice.
I have to say that a few items were damaged during the move, but nothing major. After a long distance move across provinces and stored items in crates for over 3 years, one must expect this.

After all the service that we got from this company, and the length of time we worked with them, we though the least we can do is write a positive review. So thanks AVL.

moving from mtl to toronto

Very professional and helpful from the start. Lucy the manager that contacted me from the beginning for the quote Stayed in constant contact with advice and help through the entire process. The moving guys were on time. They packaged and took care of a house full of things as if it was their own and excaptions were made for a Sunday delivery at no extra cost. 2 different men delivered the goods . They were again professional, kind and provuded courteous service.
Best moving company ever. Very helpful n no hidden fees . As stated is what we paid. That was the most impressive of all because you hear all these horror stories and we kept waiting to see what the catch was. Thee is none. Thank you Atlantic for your service
