Nightmare move

DO NOT HIRE THIS MOVER!! The movers that came to my home to pick up my belongings were physically aggressive with me, for example when asked a question or made a comment, they became derisive, defensive and raised their voice. The dirty wheels of their cart dirtied the carpeting and the cart scraped paint off the wall. They moved a neighbor's heavy bin and put it on my lawn, and recovering from an injury I asked them to kindly return it, however they acknowledged my question and walked away. One mover of Atlantic Van Lines picked up a heavy wooden filing cabinet and it almost fell on my injured leg. At the same time I was on the phone with the company who had called me, and I told them I was afraid in my own home with the movers. However it went through one ear and out the other, as it became apparent that customer service was of no concern. They were merely concerned with receiving payment. I selected them on the basis that the company promised to be there in the morning , then they said between 11am and 2pm (which I thought they meant the mover would take place during this time based on our earlier conversation with the manager), however they showed up late. The manager assured me that a physical move (out) would take only two hours maximum as that is how long it took them to move her (!!!). They then held my goods hostage as I complained about the service, and I had asked for the name and contact details of the owner and was not provided them, as the local manager is the sole person to contact. My belongings were delivered weeks later. The weight was claimed to be 3X my estimated weight (estimate was about $850.00), however the scale information that I asked for, did not confirm it the actual weight indicated. My lawyer recommended I sue the company, which I am still considering, and he is generously offering to do so without charge. This company Atlantic Van Lines has no business being in business. As a result of the late delivery and the duress I went through, I was unable to access my work files therefore experienced potentially lost business revenues as I was unable to work. They indicated that they went to deliver the following day (my key was not delivered as promised by the seller's lawyer), however their GPS records provided did not reflect that. I secured another mover to pick up belongings and deliver, however the company again held my goods hostage by stating they will not provide location of goods until paid in full. My lawyer recommended I use the same company for delivery, in part to the ongoing stress. Three items were damaged (a desk and a lamp cover ruined, the bottom of a couch visibly damaged), one item has yet to be found, yet my dealings with the company were so poor and stressful, that I wanted nothing further with them so I did not follow up with them. Photographs were taken of the damaged goods. The service was so stressful at the pick up, I felt the need to get two witnesses upon delivery, and contact the local police in case they were needed. Do yourself and others a favor and spread the word to boycott this company. Stay clear.

Fake Scaling Ticket, Overcharge on Excessive Weight, Hold Stuff Hostage

I am currently in a dispute with them via my lawyer for breach of contract, bad faith, excessive charges, faking weight scale tickets and other and for trying to coerce me into paying excessive fees contrary to the agreement and unilaterally changing the agreement to suit their desires.

I would like to hear from as many of you as possible as perhaps we could bring joint claims against them in civil court, which is where I heading.

Please email me at manningc@hotmail.com

Complete Joke

Never hire this company they are a complete joke. We moved from Calgary to New Brunswick I would have been better off towing my stuff with rope from the back of my truck. Literally 80% of our stuff was destroyed. Our mattress had huge black marks all over which apparently is not covered. All of our picture frames were smashed, these were very well packed. I think they had to of dropped the boxes off of a 2 storey building to break them all. Our table had scratches chairs had huge chunks out of them. Desks with puncture marks right through the middle of them. I thought that the only thing that wasn't damaged were our clothes in and no as I hauled out a bag with shoes in them it looks like they had packed them on the bottom and the soles were squished off the actual shoes. Literally not able to move a sneaker safely across the country. We did get a settlement though $50. WOW I was so excited to receive this complete insult. We had contacted CBC market place who said they would investigate for us. I cant wait for the bad publicity they are going to get. Anytime you call you will not have your call answered or returned. I would love for any one of their employees to have there stuff moved with this company so they can see what everyone else is having to deal with right now. If your ever moving don't even consider these guys. Don't even let the idea creep into your brain. Just run. Run and never look back. Complete joke

MOVING

Date for pickup was agreed to 1 month early. 1/4 pickup happened 2 days late. The rest was picked up 4 days late. 1 day after possession date. Ho help from Altlantic. Billed for 11,000 pounds. prior to delivery I attended their office and weighed shippment. 4,ooo pounds less. Delivery - 15 boxed lost / missing, 3 items litterly destroyed, others damaged, all furniture damaaged. When making deal I asked about insurance. ends up $0.03 cents more than cost and then $350.00 deductable. What a laugh. I knew I can pack very well and securly and asked about extra insurance. $35 / $1,000. Plus deductable plus I was informed this insurance would doubtly cover anything I packed. Loose / loose situation. Battled for 2 years with Atlantic claims . Only wanted to pay max. of $86.00. Final settement (by law have to settle withing 2 years) was $250.00. Small claims would have to start in BC where the move was initiated. Hahaha ! Moved to ON. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY MOVE NO MATTER HOW SHORT, The use subcontract movers with unmarked vehicles and have to be constantly watched how they handle your property. When unloading my property there was a Futon bed and an extremely large suitcase stuffed with clothes that were not mine. Told the movers to take it back to Atlantic storage and tell them to weigh it, deduct the weight (MY est. over 100 pounds, and find the true owner and deliver it to them. I contacted Atlantic the next day and they stated they knew nothing about this property. While dealing with Atlantic I both by phone and via e-mail requested they locate the 15 missing boxes and absolutely nothing was done. Looking ar possibly hiring Atlantic Van Lines ? NO 1 RUN !

Moving across country

We decided to move out of Ontario and to BC for retirement and relocation. It was a daunting endeavor involving distance, weights of items to be moved and items we needed to sort out to keep or throw out. It became a logistic nightmare. We eventually weeded all the garbage out and were left with the items most precious and most wanted packaged and ready to go. We priced out renting a truck or shipping by rail but the prices were staggering.....truck rental from big company ran up to 5000 dollars and that did not include gas, insurance etc. The service reps were rude and kept referring to the bottom line and were not interested in any kind of customer service. The rail option was ridiculous as well, running into 10's of thousands of dollars to move our items and cars and us out west. Finally we decided to make a bit of a holiday of it and drive out while letting Atlantic Van Lines handle the moving and storage of our items. The pick up crew was excellent, polite, quick and efficient. They treated our items and us with respect and courtesy and made sure everything was secure and accounted before leaving. The service rep we dealt with, Maria, answered all our questions quickly and never left us hanging for answers. She provided the assurances we needed to let us trust them with our items. While we struggled to find a home, we knew our items were in safe storage and that was one less thing to worry about. We found and bought our new home and made one simple phone call to the dispatch center and as promised they showed up on time and quickly unloaded or precious cargo. Nothing was missing and nothing was damaged or broken. The price Maria quoted and what we signed for was the price we paid.....no hidden off the truck, pay the driver's mortgage or outright extortion fees in the mix at all.....just honest people, doing honest work and for that, we say thank you very much Atlantic Van Lines. Thank you for helping us get to our new home.

Worst Moving Experience

We moved from Saskatoon to Ottawa and the state that our belongings arrived in was simply offensive. Every single box was smashed in, chairs, tables, lamps, and paintings had not been properly wrapped and were destroyed. A few pieces of our furniture never even arrived, so who knows where on earth they ended up. We filed for insurance, and of the measly 400$ they said was our due, we only got 100$ as there is a 300$ deductible.
The sheer cost of the movers (all of the hidden fees), the condition of our belongings and the despicable remuneration made it the worst moving experience imaginable. Avoid this company like the plague.

worst movers in Canada, please be aware

Worst movers - made me wait 4 hrs behind the schedule when picking and pay almost double the estimate, cant believe it happens. How can you trust them, their scale is faulty I am sure (deliberately), otherwise being professional you cant give one estimate to someone and later charge much much more !! its simply unethical

PLEASE BE AWARE, NO MORE ATLANTIC !!!!!! SPREAD THE WORD

service

Worst experience ever, vastly overcharged, numerous pieces damaged. Was offered $50.00 for damages, a slap in the face. Take my advise, read all the reviews on this company, 99% were very unhappy, please....if you value your belongings, use a different company.

Apartment containt from Gatineau Qc to London ON

I unfortunately selected Atlantic Vans among others competitors and I will never ever redo such mistake again. Very poor customer service, very rude management staff and particularly a certain called Renee. During the moving, they broke some of my kitchen utensils... and as if that wasn't enough, I am missing mattress.
I phoned them and their so call Manager Renee rudely told me that I wasn't the only customer and that I had to make my own plans for the next 4 to 6 weeks. One of their CSR agent was so rude and unprofessional and even refused to pass me to their so call Manager. After I had insisted, she finally passed me their so call unprofessional and unhelpful Manager.
Instead of calming me, they rudely made me understand that they are a big company with 3000 to 5000 square feet warehouse and that they don't have a personnel to go look for my mattress, they make me understand that I have to wait 4-6 weeks before they can get back to me and if my mattress is not found, I will have to assume and get the value of my mattress minus 325$ deduction... that I am not the only customer and Renee even f orbited me to call again because no one was going to take my call for only a mattress.
I am an unhappy customer left alone with my family without mattress. I don't recommend this company one bit as they are so rude, unprofessional and very unhelpful.
What shocked me is that they even told me never to call them again and that I am not the only customer... zero on customer service. A waste a money and energy!! Save yourself from trouble!!!

Montreal to Brampton move - 2 BDRM

MY BAD LUCK.. i choosed Atlantic Van lines for my move from Montreal to Brampton. After pickup, they informed me that shipment weight was 4200Lbs.. bill around 1900$. i denied as i knew it was around 2000lbs. they tried to scare me that it may take 1 or 2 weeks to re do scale as warehouse guys are busy. I was brave enough to say.. i am okay . whenever they get time, they can call me. Smantha (girl on mover side) was so rude, first she said there is no scale within 16km of my area. i found it online and informed them. She said they are authorized to do scale only on govt approved places bla bla bla.. She said their weight is 110% accurate. Anyway, i said, i will not take delivery and i will not pay. I asked them to transfer line to legal dept, they never did. After 2 days, suddenly got e-mail with apology statement, that weight is 2700lbs and bill is 1210$.

So weight got dropped from 4250lbs to 2700$ and bill got reduced by 600$$$.. wwwowwwww. The wrost moving company i have ever dealt with. Anway, i paid them 1200$. Thank GOD only Microwave was broken.. front glass shattered.. everything else came in good. just scratches on sofa.. bed furniture here and there.. all expected during moves. PLZ MAKE SURE YOU ARE PRESENT DURING SCALE, YOU CAN ASK FOR IT.. ITS OUR RIGHT.
