Salesperson was quite helpful in the selection of my A/C unit. He was quite informative on the choices of freon vs freon free unit. Air conditioner was installed last year, job was done quick and clean. Installers cleaned up after themselves.

Furnace, air conditioning and HRV

We are really happy with Aireone with every step on the way. The sales person, Elvis, is very knowledgeable and friendly. He showed us not only the company's promotional materials, but also the research he did himself to make us feel confident with our choice. Installers are excellent and worked very hard till 1:00 in the morning!

Most importantly, when I called a few months after complaining about some water leaking (don't panic, it was just the water pipe from the humidifier fall off, probably our fault), they came in a reasonable time frame to check it.

I have heard so many stories that some company doesn't really come back for service after sales. My experience proved Aire One is a company that you can trust.

New furnace, new ductwork for whole house

This is a story that spans 6 years.

6 years ago, we bought a house that needed to be completely gutted which included having a new furnace and all new ductwork installed. We were new to house renovations but asked three contractors to provide quotes and went with the company that seemed reasonable. Air One got the job and everything started out fine and was progressing like we thought it should. Then I happen to notice a bulb from my cordless flashlight disappeared and the thing that made it obvious was that one of the contractors had the same flashlight as me. The guy didn't even put a busted bulb back in, he just left it empty. Yes I know it was just a bulb but the point was there were guys in my house taking my property. I confronted them but they of course denied so I let it slide. As the job progressed, they became more difficult to work with. So much so, that I had to withhold final payment in order to get them to come back and finish the job properly. They reluctantly came back but not without threatening to put a lien on our house.
Now, 6 years later, I'm looking into getting our AC unit replaced because it isn't cooling the house properly and never really has. As it turns out, Air One didn't do a proper job with the plenum making our current configuration completely inefficient for both heating and AC so now if we want to replace our AC, we have to have the plenum completely rebuilt. I have yet to receive a quote on that but it's not going to be cheap. As it turns out, the job they did shouldn't have passed inspection which is another issue all together.

So, to summarize, they "Borrowed" my property, threatened me, and didn't do a proper job which will now cost me more money.

Thank you for your feed back John. Aire One Heating and Cooling considers our customers to be the very heart of our company. We strive to keep them happy and comfortable in their homes. Unfortunately miscommunications do happen. With over 120,000 customers there may be a small number of customers that Aire One simply cant make happy. We have 24 hour service, 2 hour emergency service and we operate 7 days a week to serve our customers.

Furnace sale, install and service

I had Aire one sell me a mid efficiency Lennox gas furnace in 2001.
Here we are in 2009 and the furnace still does not work properly.

They offer a 10 year parts and labour warranty on the basis you use them for yearly maintenance. These same people have not been able to have my furnace run reliably. A Lennox representative came with a technician after 7 years of complaints. They found a connection not properly grounded causing part of my woes. Still no apology or claim of fault on their part.

The furnace needs regular service because of the poor installation. To this date they have not been able to make this furnace reliably.
I did buy one of the better Lennox models. If it were a lemon they still should be able to make it function reliably.

I found that the technicians and the manager at Aire one seem to point the blame on the home owner rather than take the onus and fix their mistakes to resolve the issue.

Be very careful when dealing with this location of Aire One.
Don't get roped into the 10 year warranty based on them providing you service. In the end you pay for it.

Also get everything on paper. Regardless of how small. These guys don't seem on the up and up. It's unfortunate these people are allowed to stay in business.

$5,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Rather than post a note on Homestars asking to help, help when the owner informs you there is a problem. Not only when a bad review is posted.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Ask questions. Ask to speak to previous customers. Customers that had problems not those listed as referrals

Air Conditioning Service

I called Aire One to service my furnace, as they were listed as the original installers. Although the unit is only 3 yrs old, their service man told us that it was rusted out and will likely start leaking soon (we were charged $250 to diagnose). Unless we paid them an additional $850 to investigate further, they would call the Gas company to shut down gas supply to our house. What made me even more suspicious is that they could not pinpoint an issue, only that we needed to spend more money to find a problem.
So, I came to homestars.com and found the best rated HVAC company and got a second opinion. As it turns out, there was nothing wrong with the unit. A complete diagnostic was performed and everything was in tip top shape.

poor workmanship. they did not use proper line to air conditioner. this led to noisy operation. It was only corrected after some hassle. they used 'contract' installers. I would caution others about any installation with 'contract' vs. in-house staff.

Furnace installation

I received quotes from several contractors that were all in the same price range and ended up going with Aire One because they distribute Lennox furnaces and my previous furnace was a Lennox and lasted about 30 years without having problems. I got a really efficient one and am so far quite happy with it. There are no temperature fluctuations in my home and I can't even hear the thing run. It's also a great time to buy because I'm going to get $1,225 in rebates from the Fed and Prov governments, the Ontario Power Authority, and Enbridge combined. I'll save $ on bills and cut my greenhouse gas emissions too. Aire One was really professional and I was confident with their installation. It's only been a couple of months, but so far I have not had any problems with my furnace.

Installed air conditioning in new home

We purchased a new home from a builder but the cost to intall air conditioning with them was exhorbitant so we investigated other companies. Aire One had the best price for the manufacturer and what we needed for our home. They were on time, polite, professional, and had the job done in record time. Excellent service from a great company! And with our past hot summer, we enjoyed the cool luxury of air conditioning in our brand new home. I would definitely recommend them.
