Reinnessance townhouses disaster

Absolutely horrible builder! Folks plz beware! We purchased a townhouse from them in early 2014. They are over 1.5 years late on the closing! Found out recently that they don't even have their building permits. No firm date of when they will get them! Closing will be further delayed by months and months. It's not even clear if it will happen this year! Builder is all but happy for people to walk away from the deal so they can resell for a higher price. On top of that customer care people are rude and confrontational. Instead of working with you to help resolve the issue they engage in weird debates. Worse decision we ever made was to purchase from them.

Customer Service Lack of

If Robert spent more time at his desk instead of smoking his brains out outside, he would probably get things done. Never calls back, rude on the phone and belittles people. I mean aren't we paying his salary? The builder is a good builder and I've purchased homes from them in the past, but I cant understand for the life of me why they keep this clown employed!!! Are you hiring? let me submit my resume and show you how its done!

Purchased a home from Primont in April 2014. By the looks of it, it won't be ready until the end of 2016 if we are lucky. What frustrates me is this builder sent out an agreement form long after the deposit for us to sign. Forgot what the name of the form was, but it was in regards to fencing, sewerage and what you can and can not do on the premises. They told us that construction can not start until everyone home buyer in that phase has signed.

Our home has been delayed twice now and recently we've received another delay "unavoidable delay". This seriously ticked me off because I believe our home could've been ready if they sped up their internal process like all the other builders around that area. Out of my group of friends, my wife and I were the first to purchase a home in that area, however we will be the last to move in. Our friends purchased from another builder in that area, and they either got 1 delay notice or none at all. I don't know how Primont works internally, but your process needs reviewing.

I've heard that Primont was a good builder from friends who are living there 5 years ago. They used good materials and were priced higher compare to other builder. However, their reputation went down the drain from all the negative reviews I'm reading. I tend to agree with other negative reviewers because I will never recommend this builder to anyone.

Good luck to those who just bought from Primont. Don't shop around for furniture or get excited while picking your finishing. Chances are you won't move in until 2.5yrs later. Their internal process will not only screw you, but it'll give you false hope.

Primont is not accountable

Bought our first townhome in Mount Pleasant - the sales folks are awesome the service guy is awesome. The company - downright shady. Several things that are contained within the purchase of sale agreement such as design of front porch, upgrade for custom breakfast we paid for which was charged by sqft of material/labor did not end up being the same specifications...their response was its subject to change - this is what we submitted to the city...most recently they installed dead grass in the backyard and sent a notice to all neighbours an hour after it was installed saying that we did not water the grass and if it needs to be replaced it will come out of the grading deposit...the only things they will fix after purchase is what the service guy can fix - anything that will cost primont money they will not fix..do not buy from primont..lots of issues..here is a picture of installed grass from an hour ago

Renaissance Townes

I purchased a home from Primont in November 2014 with a closing date of April 2016. That closing date has now come and gone and construction has not even begun and primont is still waiting "to service the land." We don't have a new closing date and construction is not due to be started until January 2017. Even then, who knows if it will happen at that time as primont has already gone back on their word countless
times. Prior to purchasing the house we read the reviews on this website but chose to purchase anyway. I fully regret this decision as I now realize that the comments on here are an
accurate description of this company and would not recommend buying a house from them.

Update- we still don't have a new closing date and have not received any further updates on the status of the site (ie. Whether the developer has started their work). I fully believe that primont knew that the closing dates that they had set out initially would not be met and are now trying to blame it on the developer. I have talked to people that have bought homes from builders like Mattamy and Arista homes and no one has had this length of a delay. Clearly should not have trusted such an unprofessional builder with such an important purchase.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out. Unfortunately as per the update that was sent out on the status of construction at your site we are at the mercy of the developer. The servicing is beyond our control. It is never our intention to not meet a closing date there is no gain in us doing so. We are just as anxious to begin construction and deliver your home as you are. These delays are not a reflection of our product or service. We do appologize for any inconvenience but again we are doing our best to be in target with the new closing dates. We have also update me purchasers along the process and will continue to do so. If you have any questions please do call out head office. Thank you

Renaissance Towns

My husband and I purchased a townhouse from Primont in January 2015 and have just received word that our closing date is going to be extended for the second time. We purchased at the start of phase 2. First, I find it wrong that Primont can take $50,000 deposit from us on signing of contract, but we have to wait so long for our home. It's not right that Primont has all that money up front, which we could be investing and earning interest on as we wait forever for our home. Second, they've sold 3 phases of homes without even having a permit to build anything. Something seems wrong about that. Shame on the City of Vaughan for allowing this kind of thing to go on. In a side note, we've all purchased these homes based on artist renderings... Not even a model home to look at. It's unfortunate that this is what it's come to... It's a seller's market and we are at the mercy of these builders :S

Hi there thank you for taking the time to reach out. As we are not the developers on this project we are unfortunately at to mercy of the developer and the schedules they had given us before we went to market. It is not out interim to hold deposits for a couple of years. There is no advantage to us. We are anxious to begin construction and meet the new closing schedules as you have been updated on. In new construction is it regular Practise that a builder sells before receiving permits. There is a process to follow. It is also customary that there are no model homes in new developments. If you did not feel comfortable purchasing without seeing a model home that was your decision. Not reflection on the builder. The delays are not a reflection on our product and service. We will deliver you your beautiful home very shortly. In the meantime if you have any questions please call our customer service department. We will be keeping you posted as services begin. You can also follow us on our Facebook page where we will be posting about construction. Thank you

IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD NOT BUY FROM PRIMONT! Read the reviews - there's a reason there are so many negative reviews about the service manager.

I bought a townhouse on Dundas Way from Primont in 2014. I was reading the reviews on here and it looks like the previous phase(s) have the same problem and wouldn't surprise me if the phase they're working on now will be in the same situation of heating issues, among other things. Primont has no plans to properly fix this and they take their time. I've had to follow up with them, too many times to count, to find out what's going on, not only with this specific problem, but every single problem. I understand that problems may arise, it's the manner in which those problems are responded to and fixed that has me giving Primont Homes 0 stars, I would actually rate them -10.

In summary, in my opinion, the house quality that Primont puts forth is below average and the service is nowhere near that of what a home builder should be.

I'm pretty confident that the 9 and 10 star reviews are the company writing reviews for themselves. No joke.

Primont Homes, if you are going to respond to this, maybe you can state why the heating problem has not been fixed! And don't bother giving a response of each situation is different, because we all have the exact same issue. Other home owners will be writing review on here shortly because none of us are happy.

Home Purchase

My review is based on my experience with Primont so far. We signed an agreement to buy a townhouse in November, 2014 in their Renaissance Townes development in Woodbridge. At the time, the site plan had not been registered but were given a construction start time of July, 2015 and closing of May, 2016. We paid our deposits within five months. By September, 2015 we selected all the finishes and paid an additional sum for the upgrades. We received notice that closing would be delayed until September, 2016. Then we received another notice that closing would be delayed until January, 2017. All the while the response from Primont is the same: They are waiting for the developer to finish servicing the land before they can start construction. They haven't violated any terms of our agreement but as a first-time home buyer we can't help but be frustrated. It will be over two years since we paid our deposits before we even get a chance to see our home. Who knows if they will meet their latest closing date. They were very eager and open to communicate when they wanted us to put money down, but the communication has been lacking since they have started to fail to meet their obligations.

UPDATE AFTER PRIMONT'S RESPONSE: Yes, we did get the email from Primont stating that our closing date could be in the summer of 2017 at the earliest, but most likely the end of 2017. This would be almost TWO years since our original closing date, and over three years since we signed our agreement to purchase and paid our deposits. If you search for Maplequest (Vaughan) Developments Inc. on the City of Vaughan website you will notice that in this time the 'developer' has been submitting applications for Phase III and the rest of the subdivision that Primont plans to build. So, I would guess that they've been waiting for approvals on their entire subdivision this entire time and may not have had any intention to build the initial phases on schedule.

Hi there we understand your frustration. We are waiting on the developer and sold the homes based on the timelines we were given for servicing. It is not our intention to miss a closing date but it does happen in new construction as it is a lengthy process. Please check your email for any updates we send out as there was one sent out last week. Also feel free to follow us on our Facebook page where we will post progress on the site. We are anxiously awaiting to start construction and move you into your new home. In the meantime if you have any questions please fell free to call our customer service department. Thank you

Primont Homes was easy to deal with, both before and after we bought. Someone always available to answer questions and concerns
