Reasonable result

The service was not as satisfactory as we thought; however, they did fix our problem at the end. Our washroom required a new shower system and they did eventually found the right one for us as they promised.

Sump Pump - haven't a clue

After a recommendation and reading good reviews I called Hillcrest to deal with a sump pump and water coming into my basement.
In summary, they did not diagnose the problem and left with water coming into my house and promising to follow up which they didn't. They checked and ruled out certain things which they said were working. That's fine but the main issue was not resolved.

I called another company who knew right away the minute they saw the situation.

In addition, I was quoted an hourly price. 2 men showed up, one clearly an apprentice. At the end I was charged double labor. I questioned this and was told it was a misquote and that 2 men are always sent for sump issues. In retrospect I shouldn't have paid this.

Not impressed and would not use this company again.

Company Response

There are 2 different Hillcrest Plumbing and we would like to make sure you are referring to the correct one. We don't recall this job. We are Uncle Bill's Hillcrest Plumbing.
Please email us your address at info@hillcrestplumbing.com and we will address this situation. If we overcharged you for service, we will certainly look into it.

Washroom Tub Valve Install

Went to Hillcrest (white, not yellow store) to look for a replacement tub cartridge and pressure balancing unit. However, given the age and brand, replacement parts were non-existent. I had to replace the valve body, which meant replacing the entire tub faucet unit. The plumber came as scheduled and was friendly. Took him over 3hrs to do the job and was not overly organized or prepared as he did not have with him simple parts and could not find tools for the job. Worse part was when work was done, there was no thorough checks and the soldering job was poor as the valve leaked when the water was turned on. The area of the gyp-rock wall of the cut-out behind the valve was a mess, which took me hours to wet clean (all walls, ceilings, floors, etc.) You would figure that when using a reciprocating saw, that a HEPA dust shroud be attached to reduce the dust. He did come back to re-solder, but something so basic, how does a professional plumber mess this up? In hindsight, the job was rather easy and I would have tackled the job myself if I had the parts and time.

furnance service

Hillcrest serviced our Armstrong Furnace (about 12 years old) in our recently purchased home. At the completion, no message from service agent regards any concerns or issues, next service etc. Went to check the furnace after service agent left, and noticed that the filter was not present - not mentioned by agent. Called Hillcrest, and they were less than helpful. Will not use them again.

Company Response

We are sorry to hear about this Peter. Not sure if you are aware but there are 2 different Hillcrest Plumbing companies. Do you know if you used the ones with the white trucks or yellow trucks?

Plugged boiler line

We were not getting heat in the basement and suspected that one of the baseboard pipes was plugged. Called up Hillcrest booked an app. Service guy showed up and knew exactly what to do - flushed out line with high pressure and got the water flowing thru again. Although overall cost was not expensive and guy was cool BUT he tried to charge me a "$50 truck fee" - what is that about???

Home Bathroom Renovation

I was so disappointed from start to finish with Hillcrest. So overpriced and not an understanding of good style. They fired my project manager 1/2 way through the project, the vanity and tap they chose (and charged me a lot for) was the cheapest piece I've ever seen and the grout is all different colours. To top it off, the drywall and paint is lumpy and now I need to get it all re-done. I would NEVER use this company. You could get the same product doing it yourself and going to home depot.

plumbing parts and service at the store

I had been looking for parts to fix some plumbing issues and didn't have any luck at another store close by, where the lone staffer behind the counter didn't really know what was up. The guy behind the counter here knew exactly what was required and where to find it, and as a bonus he had some very helpful suggestions to make the job easier. Counter service here could be faster sometimes, but they're probably so busy because they're good.

hotwater tank replacement

An emergency was called in for a burst hot water tank. The tech came in a few hours to repair the issue. The price quoted over the phone was close to the actual cost but in the end it worked out a bit cheaper.
