I had a good experience with the Rooter Group, Inc. in February 2023. They accommodated their quote visit during an evening. Both the manager , Lester and main Drain Team Leader, Mirakle provided good ideas and answered many questions, explained the options and specific steps. They provided separate quotes if partial work was ordered or various sections only done. The crew are very experienced and familiar with the proper code/ standards and the use of new drain materials.
I had a laundry backup from the Fall 2022 and required this to change the vertical, clay pipe, as a branch to the Main, clay drain. Since I had previous blockages and still a root invasion to some areas of the Main drain, I chose to change the entire Main drain and branch pipes for the Kitchen vertical pipe and the change for the upstairs vertical stack. This one was rusting away.
They 4 man- crew came and did all the work for the 4 days. With digging up the cement floor , they minimized the cement residue, in the air but using their Driller with a damp towel to the drill bit. Even though, I tarped up the areas, there was minimal residue on the tarps. Each completion of the work day, the crew swept the floors. The put the dirt in bags, not out in the work area. This allowed a cleaner work site and ease of old dirt back over the new drains. The last day they even mopped the floors.
The new Y- vertical pipe allows for the washing machine water to go down here, rather than the old set up of going through the laundry sink.
With the Vertical stack from upstairs, the crew was careful to shield the copper piping surrounding the old steel stack, so with demolition, the water pipes were not damaged. The old gradient from the vertical stack was not downward. They improved the gradient with the new set up, adjusted the higher end from here and lowered towards the outside of the house.
The crew also added a new sited, toilet drain on the 3rd day. This was not in the original quote or discussed. They were able to adjust their work progress accordingly. The extra cost was reasonable.
The crew was patient with aligning , making the gradient downward for the 3 -Y connections to the Main drain. They double checked each connection with a camera view through the drains, prior to putting the dirt and applying the new cement to the floor. The cement floor gradient was smooth and transitioned well, so that the old VCT tiles they removed would easily glue back on. ( only two new tiles were required) .
Each branch drain had a clean- out access port. My Kitchen branch had gasket which did not allow a complete seal. With Lesters suggestion- wrap with Teflon tape and extra tightening, it is not leaking now. Mirakle, came over to check that out.
I am very happy with this crews quality of workmanship, giving good description of the project progression/ customer service , the cleaning up each work day completion. The costs were reasonable.
