drain replacement

Had a sewage back-up. Technician showed up early, assessed the situation (tree roots blocking clay pipe), clearly explained the options and arranged for the job to be done first thing the next day. Crew was professional, punctual, neat, and was followed by a thorough final inspection. Would definitely call them again.

Drain cleaning - Fantastic experience

We contacted drain works to inspect our sewer drains and investigate the cause for the backup. Within a couple of days they had a service guy come out and take a look. They took the time to explain everything that was wrong and make many different suggestions on how to correct the situation. They did a fantastic job, very clean, knowledgeable and did the job on time and on budget. Would definitely recommend drain works to all my family and friends.

Clearing of sewer drain.

I used Homestars to find this company and had a great experience. Our drain in our basement was backed up mid-day Saturday. We were able to make contact with the company immediately and had someone at our house less than 2 hours. They offered to take a video of the pipes to do a diagnostic along with clearing the pipes. It was a bit more money then just having the drains cleared but this gave us a better idea of what we may need to deal with in the future.
We have a problem with tree roots which were cleared and given options for future prevention if we wish. We can't afford anything but the basics and this was done with no pressure and we were treated as any customer spending a lot more money. I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

FANTASTIC HOME PLUMBING TUNE UP

WE NOW HAVE A PLUMBER FOR LIFE!! Search no Further. CHRIS was sent for a kitchen sink tap repair. Done. Subsequent to the repair Chris addressed the entire homes plumbing integrity. The overall value and professionalism left me with a wonderful feeling of. confidence that every aspect of the complete plumbing system was addressed. Chris immediately found many small however potentionally hazardous imperfections within the aging plumbing. He reinstalled a new cartirage into the 2nd floor shower making a nagging moisture drip obsolete. This was a tricky application only a seasoned professional should tackle . Yet Chris put his head down working hard constantly to make himself, his company and his customer proud. This kind of service does not grow on trees. It comes from many years of experience. Coupled with a dedicated man who has made his carrier his life. THIS IS WORKMANSHIP AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AT IT'S FINEST. I found DRAIN WORKS from homestars and consistently homestars provides the best experience and value for our home. CALL DRAIN WORKS IT WORKS

Unclog sewer drain

Overall I was pretty satisfied with the work. A little on the pricey side, but hey, they were quick and professional so you gotta pay a little for that. They showed up right in the middle of the quoted time range on a Saturday, put the camera down the drain and cleared the blockage in under 1 hour. Best thing is I could SEE the cleared drain and rest easy.

backed up sewer

We had Drainworks in to assess a backed up drain. They came promptly and provided a temporary fix for the problem, identified the underlying problem and provided a writte quote to do the work. Before we could act on it, the drain backed up again, spewing sewage in our basesment. So we called Drainworks again. They agreed to send a crew to dig and fix the problem the same day, but their offer was contingent on getting a signature--if they didn't get it within one hour they would not send a crew. The signature part was difficult since we didn't have a working scanner. We offered to send authorization in the form of an email and credit card number, referencing the written quote that we already had and they still had on their system....We would follow up with the signature before the crew started work. Not good enough. They would not even commit to sending the crew unless they had a signature within their arbitrary one hour time frame. Maybe someone should tell them that people do all sorts of things online without a signature, like getting a credit card. Very unprofessional, unsympathetic and just plain old fashioned. I will never call them again.

**Kerry** DrainWorks’ initial visit to your home was on December 22nd, 2011. We did provide a quote to fix the problem, and you declined to proceed at that time. You were also made aware that should you decide to proceed with the quote, signatures and a deposit would have to be obtained first, and not to wait until you backed up again. Then, 19 days later, you called our office for an immediate go ahead on the quotation because the problem returned. DrainWorks, with much effort, was able to accommodate you same day, but as with any contract, signatures and a deposit are required; an email is not a binding document. The only reason the signatures and deposit were required so quickly is because you wanted the work to begin right away. You were offered other start times for after you provided the signatures and deposit at your leisure, but you refused. You wanted the work to begin right away with no signed contract, and this is in no one’s best interest, no matter how modern the times are. If it is your personal preference to deal with a company that does not obtain a signed contract before work begins, then that is your choice, but to give DrainWorks a 0 review for not adhering to how you wish business was practiced, is preposterous. Next thing you know HomeStars will accept a 0 score from someone who prefers a different colour of uniform.

Drain Snaking & Camera Inspection

Basically a professional and satisfactory experience across the board without having any completely above-and-beyond moments.

I called DrainWorks after having a drain backup in my basement, they gave me a reasonably small (and in retrospect, accurate) time window when someone would appear, called me twenty-five minutes before to let me know that a technician was coming.

The technician was professional and friendly, left the house as neat (or neater) than he arrived, covered his shoes and equipment without being asked to do so. He gave me a good estimate of the cost of the work before doing it.

He resolved the problem and answered my questions about my long-term options, charged me what he said the job would cost.

There was never a moment when I thought to myself "this is unbelievably great!" that would take this review that final mile, but I was happy with the whole experience and I expect that if I need anything more with my drains, I'm likely to call DrainWorks to have them come back.

Approximate cost of services:
$400.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
More detailed information on their website about the options for drains would be nice -- there's information there, but even more would be good.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Snaking a drain isn't (I gather) tremendously difficult, if you're under no time pressure and you're relatively handy, you could do it yourself with some rental tools.

**Thanks Geoffrey** It is nice to know that you were happy with the whole service experience and that you will continue to rely on DrainWorks should you require assistance again, however, it is unpleasant to learn that you did not feel the service was “above and beyond” what you had expected. Customer service is our top priority, and the effort to call when on route, arrive on time, leave things neater than we found them, cover shoes and equipment, keep you informed every step of the way, and with never any surprise charges, is all part of that effort. We do look forward to hearing from you and hope to exceed your expectations in the future.

Toilet Repair.

I called Drainworks to repair my American Standard toilet. They told me they were no available parts to fix them so I should replace the entire toilet, even though it was a specially ordered Victorian style installed only 4 years ago. They wanted to charge me $786 to replace the toilet.
He charged me just to come out and tell me he wanted to scam me into replacing a new and perfectly fine toilet.

I went online, found and ordered the parts to fix it immediately after talking to the fraudulent repairman. They cost $42. My handyman installed the parts and charged me $142.

I think that because I am a woman they thought they could scam me out of money.
I would NEVER use them again and I warn all women to stay far far away from these people.

UPDATE:
The company refunded me the $69 they charged to tell me they would not fix my American Standard toilet unless I found my own parts or waited 6 weeks until parts came from Mexico. Strange, since my regular handyman who had returned from vacation fixed it with American Standard parts the very next day.

The best way to let you know what it will be like to deal with this company and disagree with their business practice to to post the email the Vice President Eddie Guido sent me:

Chantelle, as per our conversation via telephone yesterday, DrainWorks has refunded the agreed upon diagnostic charge to your tenant. Even though we had a signed contract and had all rights to keep the diagnostic charge, it was refunded to show and prove to you what DrainWorks Plumbing is all about.

As a result of refunding the diagnostic charge, the review you posted on HomeStars is not valid. As per their own Consumer Review Guidelines, reviews must be based on a financial transaction. You cannot have it both ways; your review will be removed.

Having said that, the review you posted was completely fabricated anyway, and to post it even after our conversation truly shows the type of person you are. I am very grateful to have learned how deceitful, illogical and unstable you are and consider my company lucky to have had no business dealings with you now and to never have to do business with you again in the future.

The truth will always prevail, and in your case the invoice that was written contradicts all your claims.

Eddie Guido,

Vice President,

DrainWorks Plumbing

He refunded me only to protect their reviews. Ironically, if he had not sent me this personal attack email I would not have inquired if it was true that I could not post a review if I received a refund.
Like many things Drainworks asserts, it was _not_ true. The friendly people at Homestars assured me that I could indeed post a comment because I had proof of their visit to my house. I hope more people who Drainworks try to silence by issuing refunds read this and post their honest reviews of experiences with this company when you do not have the kind of plumbing they want to fix. Negative reviews are available elsewhere online and via the BBB complaints have been logged.

Here is my response to Mr. Guido:

I don't think you are deceitful, illogical or unstable. Just dull, sexist and predictable. And I am going to do my best to make sure that everyone who needs to knows the truth about what kind of businessperson you are so they don't become a victim of your insults or extortionist behaviour. I was refunded by you because it was the just thing to do - you refused to quickly and efficiently and reasonably fix my tenants toilet. Only to replace or expect us to supply parts. If I could do that I'd fix it myself as I have done in my other properties.
You did not refund me for my silence.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Listen to the customer and do not assert that the customer is wrong no matter what.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Call a smaller plumbing company who do not make huge efforts and have huge resources to present a false perfect image.

Chantelle, DrainWorks dealt only with your tenant as authorized by you, via email, giving them full authority to deal with us in your absence.

You were not present during the service visit. You did not pay anything. You did not sign an invoice nor was work performed.

4 quote options were provided to our client – your tenant.

As you can see by our reviews we conduct ourselves in the highest manner and will continue to do so.

In the future, would it not be beneficial if Homestars provided the ability for both companies and users of this site to post invoices in question. Just a suggestion…

Cheers and Happy New Year!

New gasket for Toilet

I had a toilet in my condo suite, which was leaking due to a faulty gasket. The only reason I knew about this was because the tenants directly below my suite were complaining about the leaking water coming from upstairs. I called DrainWorks Plumbing on a Tuesday, and by thursday, my toilet's gasket was removed and a new one was put in. The plumber they sent was courteous, professional, and a knowledgeable man. I would recommend DrainWorks, to all.

I'm Extremely Satisfied With Drainworks Service !!

I'm Extremely Satisfied With Drainworks Service !!

First I'll quote the (2) dispatchers that I dealt with: Jean-Paul (JP)
and William. Next the (2) technicians that performed the work : Philip
Burns and Chris Leger.

Note to Terry Cord: These 4 individuals in your company are definitely
model employees and very obviously believe in, and practise your key
goal: DrainWorks® is a company obsessed with solving plumbing and
drain problems and providing customers with a level of service most
consumers don't even know exists.

I won't quote what services your company performed at my home; I will
however commend these (4) individuals as exceeding my expectations ,
and I commend you Terry, for ensuring these persons have been trained
and have embraced the values that your company stands for.

I recently retired from a 25 year middle management career at Bell
Canada; throughout that time, many employees reported to me. They were
primarily educated professionals. I recognize employees that are
excellent at what they do and are 200% committed to their
performance.....you and your (4) fit that bill without any doubt !!

Thanks For The Great Experience !!
