Dmitriy and his team have built three kitchens for us at HomeStars, and every one of them has been excellent. He knows how to design and install IKEA cabinets so they look like custom. And they last for years. We have dozens of employees using our kitchens every day, and the one he did two years ago look as good as when he installed it. They are fast, professional and easy to work with.

Helen and team did an excellent job on drapes throughout our home. Our designer Jillian recommended them. We are really pleased with the results and impact on our living room and bedrooms.

Dmitriy is a meticulous kitchen installer, who has done two kitchens for our office. We moved floors and he was able to remove the cabinets from the first kitchen and re-install in our new space. He went over and above to install everything early and helped me move and re-install some older ikea cabinets we had purchased earlier for storage. I can't say enough great things about the quality of his work.

We renovated a new space for our office. As you can see in the 'before' photo, we started with an empty office shell. Essentially we wanted to create an open collaborative space that would motivate the team and allow us to host events. The 'after ' photo shows the new space is gorgeous. It is exactly what we wanted. Both Laura and Bill are outstanding people to work with. I only gave them a 9 rating because of delays that were due to a former employee. However when the issues were identified, both of them went over and above to get the work done to our complete satisfaction. We had some stressful issues with the delays, and in the end they worked hard to ensure I was satisfied, and that the work was s to the highest standards. Adding to their challenge was that I had hired a designer that they had never worked with before. They all worked well together. Thank you Bravehart for a job beautifully done!

Andrew painted our entire office from start to finish and did outstanding work. His attention to detail is very high and he worked tirelessly to get it done on time for our move in - sometimes on weekends as well.

We needed some white boards installed in our office and chose GTA Glass to install wipeable glass vs white boards given the size and look. They custom designed these, and installed with a very quick turnaround. They look fantastic and are easy to maintain.

The Duct Cleaning Team came to our home this spring and did a fantastic job. We hadn't had this service done in a while, so long over due. They are busy, but worth the wait. Having known Paul and his team over the years, I knew we could trust them to do excellent work. Hi crew were on time, and respectful of our home. They take pride in their service, and earn their best of awards for a reason!

We recently renovated our office and Faulkner's supplied three fridges, a dishwasher and a microwave for our growing office. We had a problem twice and the team at Faulkner's came back right away and fixed the issues. I have always received great pre and post sale service from Fred and his team.

Viktor repaired, replace and refinished the floors in our new office. He worked after hours and weekends to ensure the smell and mess didn't distract us as we continued to work next door. He is a dedicated craftsman and was not happy until the work was to a high standard. You can see the before and after results - gorgeous. Thank you Viktor for making our office a pleasure to work in!

John, Rob and team did a fantastic job at our new HomeStars office. They completely rewired the space. Over 40 new lights were added, and they also reinstalled some older track lighting we wanted to repurpose from the prior tenants. It all looks fantastic, and as you can see our days are bright. We have been in the store a couple of times recently and just purchase a microwave. Both experiences were excellent. Sandra helped us picked the right microwave to fit a tight space in our kitchen. We also did some research on refrigerators and the fellow that helped us spent a lot of time giving us information on various brands and features. Service is what makes me want to come back.

We had our stairs built ten years ago without a handrail and liked the look. Unfortunately our insurance company did not - and demanded we add a hand rail (although I noted there were so many porches in our area just like ours). Reluctantly I looked for a railing company. Art Metal Workshop were my first choice - not only because of their reviews, but their pricing was reasonable and their portfolio photos had such variety and quality. I was not disappointed - just like other reviewers writing here, they came quickly to measure and give me a quote. Alex sent the estimate by email and once I chose the handrail, he called to offer design assistance - improving on the idea to make sure I got something simple and tasteful. I chose a terrible colour initially (what I thought was a chocolate rust brown to match our brick looked more like poo brown). They arrived with the brown rail - and when I realized my mistake, they took the railing back without question and re-painted with a new colour. Great service and I now have a great looking railing. Adrian is a hard working and very honest contractor. I had a very small job repairing damage to an outdoor faucet and a leak in my kitchen sink. He repaired both quickly and at a very reasonable price. He has excellent follow up and very punctual - both confirming the initial inspection and the booking final appointment to finish the work. Thank you Adrian!

Valrine is a gem to work with. I needed a roman blind for my son's bedroom and a cushion for our bay window. I had these items quoted by others and the cost was unaffordable. Valrine came to my home and took measurements. Her quote was very reasonable - too reasonable ! She has a talent and passion for helping people with their design issues. She also helped me pick a paint colour and made a cushion for my son's bed with the extra fabric. Thank you Vern for your high quality work!!

I was just about to throw away a large 10 x 17" area rug that has been in our basement for 10 years. It had SO many stains on it. Picture a carpet that has seen boys w/ many sleepovers, plus a new puppy last year AND a leak last week from our aquarium above. While the carpet was nice it looked like it couldn't be saved. On the urging of my husband (who hates to pitch anything) I called Yorkville. Avery had a look and said it definitely could be cleaned - and it would be cheaper than replacing it. I was skeptical he could get out that many stains! I wish I had taken a before photo - but here's the after shot. We also had another area rug cleaned and they did a fantastic job. Super careful.

Chuck came as soon as he can after our filter broke during a power outage. Chuck was out of town when I called but made the effort to re-arrange his schedule to come the day after! He also searched out a good replacement filter system at a significantly reduced cost. We've been working with Chuck now for over 8 years and he's very hard working and reliable - always provding consistent service. Someone I can trust any time!!

Charles came to the rescue and went above and beyond to get our home reconnected within hours after a misfortunate accident !! Monday morning we felt & heard a large bang and the power went out. I ran out the front door and saw wires strewn across our driveway and a large truck on our street with wires hanging all over the top. The truck was too high for the street and had knocked down our electrical wires. Hydro came quickly and restored the wires but they told me I had to take care of all the damage to my house and get my own electrician to do the work. Needless to say thats another story. But I called Charles at Major Mack at 11:30. He re-arranged his schedule for me and came in an hour. His team worked for 4 hours straight to get the pole and wires reconnected on our home and also get an Electrical Inspector out to approve the work. Charles is great to work with - explains everything in simple terms and tries to be efficient with his time and cost effective with materials. A trustworthy and skilled professional I would highly recommend. We are very lucky he was able to come and help us through this stressful situation. Thank you so muchCharles!! Best, Nancy

The last couple of weeks I've bought a few things from Paula at Su Casa. She has a fantastic and unique selection of gifts and house wares and they are all at really affordable prices. Everything can be gift wrapped as well.

Our air conditioner was broken (I thought) and Tropical came out right away to look at it. The owner Dave came and felt it wasn't the A/C but that the fan in the furnace was not working properly. I was floored - it's a 15+ year old A/C and his honesty was appreciated. His technician Brian came the next day and brought the part with him. All was fixed and both a/c and furnace filters cleaned and tuned. I may get another couple years out of the A/C which is great news.

We hired All Canadian Self Storage to store some of our extra our office furniture last fall and they were terrific to deal with. Two portable pods were provided which we filled. The best part of the experience is that I've had to access these storage units on two occasions now. I just need to call and give them a couple hours notice and the pods are made available to me same day. Great customer service and a very clean / safe environment.

Our Kohler toilet went on the fritz and I called and dropped by two stores before I went to Taps. Their service department had the part in stock and the person there gave me helpful advice to make sure we got it working. They will be my go to choice for bath & kitchen fixtures from now on!

Very satisfied with total experience - estimate, measuring, manufacture, installation. Very professional staff. High quality windows. No nasty surprises. Would highly recommend. They were recommended to us and we were not at all disappointed.. Bob and Marianne - Ottawa. DJM

We decided to get a professional to frame our best of awards this year and we really picked a great company. Rent-a-son helped us with our office move. Nick and his help came on time - they were patient and did a thorough job disassembling our office cubicle walls and packing them into the truck. They were very efficient - fast and no damage. Thanks guys!

We had to use 1-800 Rid of It Monday to pick up a few pieces of office furniture that were basically junk - too big to move and awkward to get to the dump ourselves. Thanks Derek and Kevin for coming on time and doing this fast, and painlessly.

A big thank you to Trisha Scott for providing the perfect furnishings for our 200 square foot booth at the Vancouver Home & Interior Design Show. So many people have stopped by to ask where we got the white Barcelona chairs and floor lamp. It was the perfect setting to talk to thousands of homeowners interested in finding great companies like Ready Set Show.

John is a hidden gem - we had several small jobs and he came over for two days and got them done both in a timely manner and with attention to detail. He re-painted our outside front door, bay windows that were peeling as well as 2 bedroom window sills. He fixed our back door hinge that had snapped off, replaced our broken garberator and hung some shelving. Thank you John!! We needed your help. He is so friendly and personable to work with and has good suggestions.

I can't thank Joanna and her team enough for decorating our 2010 National Home Show booth this past Feb 19-28. We had so many people stopping to check out their gorgeous pieces. From the sleek console (I want it), to the classy yet casual expandable dining room table with very comfortable red wine Euro chairs - we really had a great spot to talk to the thousands of homeowners that came by. We had a hard time getting some people to leave! If you want to have your space made into WOW go see Joanna at Roomy Interiors. She's a very warm and approachable lady who has great taste and a cool store on King Street east. Thanks again Joanna!

John Oborne, Colin and their team really went above and beyond to build HomeStars a first class booth for our 2010 home show tour throughout the GTA. We needed a 20 foot wide x 8 foot high wall that was light enough to transport to the various shows and sturdy enough to hang signage and art. They completed the project over 4 days (in my very cold garage) and had it set up all without any follow up on my part. Based on John's work ethic and organizational skills, and from all the reviews and photo's I've read over the years - it's no wonder they were chosen as the "Best of" by their clients for 2 years running. Ali and his team installed a beautiful oak laminate floor into our 20 x 10 foot booth at the National Home Show two weeks ago. It really looks like wood. Thank you for an outstanding job. The floor looks perfect after 10 days of hard use at the show. We look forward to using it again at the Hamilton Home Show and International Home show this month. Paul the owner measured, made and also installed our blinds in two large main floor bay windows. We've had nothing on these windows since we installed them ten years ago, but decided it was time to get a little privacy (sorry Gladys). The product is high quality and the installation very simple. It's nice to deal with a local company that we know has been around for a few years.

We had our family room re-painted - a smaller job but it required the bay window and the munton (sp?) bars to be painted as well as 2 ceilings since our kitchen is connected, and all the baseboards. We also had a huge hole in the hall that needed to be patched properly and the ceiling there fixed as well. A fiddly job. Steve did an excellent 10 star job! He's also very professional - comes in on time and leaves the work space tidy every night. I hired Steve Karakostas after receiving quotes from two other painters. Everyone was in the same range (reasonable) but what made Steve stand out was his thorough quote which was emailed promptly in a detailed PDF with his terms and inclusions. Everyone else just scratched the price on a piece of scrap paper. He never asked for a down payment - I realized after I paid him at the end. He also followed up with a written warranty on his work!! WOW - that's attention to detail. I've added his before and after shot - this hole was hard as it went right to the crown molding and he did a perfect job in patching. I can't tell the difference.

Of course right around the holidays we see our main floor hall ceiling had some paint peeling and water damage. Great timing as we are entertaining! It wasn't severe but we didn't want it to become a major issue either. Flavio came very quickly after we called (next morning) and carefully opened up the ceiling without damaging our crown moulding and found out it was the overflow of our bath that was leaking water. That was the bad news - the good news he was able to find a part and repair it that day. We didn't have to rip out the 60 year old tub and incur a major bathroom reno. I've gotten to know Flavio well over through HomeStars events and he truly is an honest and 10 star contractor. He also made some suggestions on other areas of the house we should improve. Well worth having him come. Thank you again!

Allan rug provided a terrific carpet for our booth at the Fall Home Show and International show. We really appreciate their support. They finished the edges beautifully and the carpet is excellent quality - no pilling after hundreds of people walking over it over the past 8 days. And we've had carpets before that just don't hold up. Thanks Catherine and the group for providing a top quality product.

We stopped off at Sheridan's Saturday morning to pick up a few flowers for our planters and do some research on some ground cover under our tree in the backyard. What I was blown away with was how many friendly staff there were to help. And if one didn't know the answer, they would walk us to the expert person that did know. Having bought lots of plants at Loblaws and wasted lots of time wandering around looking for things - Sheridan's knowledgeable staff, vast product selection, and competitive prices make this the place to go hands down.

What I like about best buy is their sales staff is not on commission. They are not pushy and take the time to answer your questions. I do find some know more than others - so i often will seek out a couple of opinions. They also have offers that sometimes are story specific - so you need to keep an eye out on the model you want. There are floor models you can negotiate some more on as well, and still get a full warranty. We are really happy with our 50" Plasma (don't ask me the brand - that's my husband's dept). We had another firm do the installation as I wasn't convinced the Geek Squad would do the best job. Pricing was competitive elsewhere.

Our island chairs had started to get small tears on the seat surface (high traffic kid use) and so I looked around for a local upholsterer. Jack is hard to reach by phone but he gets back to you right away. He offered to recover all 4 for $200 (we didn't want to spend much) and sourced an excellent chocolate brown faux leather. The showroom is a shambles but he does good quality work at an excellent price.

I called Ken's and spoke to Art on the phone about an urgent request to get over 50 black frames for an event we were organizing. He gave me several choices over the phone and when I arrived that day I picked what I wanted. They only had 30 of that type in stock but they gave me a great back-up option and I was able to get the order assembled within 2 hours. Everything was packed and ready to go when I arrived. Incredible service. Thank you Art!

I just bought a front door mat from Paula over the holidays and thought I'd add this pic - although it looks better in real life :) The gallery on this page should be updated as there are always great new items to check out. There were some beautiful hand painted glass plates I also bought as teacher gifts. Wish I had a pic to add. Su Casa truly has fantastic home decor items and it's a shop worth visiting.

Steve is a knowledgeable, honest and reliable repairman. And very reasonable. We had 2 appliances on the fritz - our Smed dishwasher that was only 7 years old was leaking. And our JennAir stove was cutting out. We'd be halfway through cooking something and the stove would shut down. A long story short I called several repair companies. Steve was able to come the next morning (another said he'd call back and confirm and never did). Steve did a lot of recommending on the phone so we proceeded to purchase another brand of dishwasher (Steve at no charge recommended it wasn't worth repairing this European model as parts hard to get and costly). He arrived first thing the next morning and fixed our stove for a very low charge. He also offered to find a replacement for a missing stove knob. So he left - without asking for any $ - and came back 2 weeks later with the stove knob. THAT"S SERVICE! He's very professional and I'd trust him to fix any appliance he thought was worth fixing. Thank you Steve.

Tome truly did an excellent job moving our offices from Avenue to St Clair. John arrived a few days in advance and made sure he knew the scope of the job. They came 2 hours early, disassembled all our desks and equipment and put it all back together in approx 4 hours. He has an excellent crew that were really careful with everything. We would hire them again without hesitation. Thank you Tome!

Kim and Stephan are a fantastic duo - they have been cutting our lawn and tending to any beds for several years now, as well as spring and fall clean up. But both of them, and their team, are also very handy - they've fixed many things around house. Painted rails, fixed doors and built shelves in the garage. They always make helpful suggestions to keep costs manageable. Thank you for outstanding work!

Raintree every year reminds us with a letter and opens / closes our system. They are always on time. They installed the lines 10 years ago and we've never had an issue they couldn't fix in the annual service contract. So it's worth finding a great company that does a superb job in installing and maintaining a system. Tom comes every year and reminds us how to use the timer. Thanks for great service !

Frank is really a first class contractor. I called him one morning last week to see if he could fix our garage door. He had installed our garage doors back in 2000 and they still look fantastic eight years later. Well he called back within an hour, came the next morning and had the estimate and time fram to fix it within the day. They panel had been hit by my roof rack (dumb blond move) as I'd backed out. Rather than replace, he repaired the section economically and quickly. Again, Frank is an honest, reliable and first class contractor. You won't be disappointed.

Anthony provided us with an independant consultation on our fireplace and living room renovation in North York. We weren't sure what type of fireplace (gas vs wood burning and zero clearnace vs chimney). The house did not have a fireplace. He's very experienced and provided excellent guidance.

Marrik finished my concrete driveway after Jack Greedy Paving prepared and poured it. The crew from Merrik did an excellent and meticulous job, sweeping the surface and ensuring the finish had the right amount of grip. They secured it off and the job was perfect. They even helped get my kids handprints imprinted in one corner for posterity.

I first met Chuck Mellon 5 years ago when we decided to build a fish tank as a separation detail between our living room and dining room. He worked with our designer and cabinet maker to create the right specifications to build a +1000 lb tank with three sides open as part of the room design. Chuck is a hidden gem - he painstakingly chose each fish carefully (mostly African Cichlids)and designed the rocks and plants they live in. He and his son maintain the tank each month and are dedicated to providing the best service at a very reasonable price. Chuck is really passionate about his work - and truly loves these fish!

We updated all our windows and doors with Pella products over six years ago and they are still as good as the day they were installed. You pay for the best but it's worth every penny. The outside frames have handled the elements and still look like new. One of the cables broke when we cleaned our windows in the spring and someone came out and fixed it right away. You'll have no regrets buying Pella.

This is our second experience having a driveway re-paved with concrete. The first time several years ago we used a company from the yellow pages - never again! The driveway grade was too high -likely because they didnt dig deep enough before they poured. And the concrete began to flake after 2 years. For our current circular driveway there was more technical challenges. We hired Greedy this fall as they were recommended by our landscaper as a quality company that does a lot of large /commmercial work. He warned me they'd be more expensive. But actually after 3 quotes, Greedy was very much in line. We waited several weeks but it was well worth it. They did an excellent job with the prep, pour and finish. Dave, the site manager, managed to perfection over the 3 days and attended to all our concerns - even erecting a basketball poll at no charge. I'll send a finished picture once the snow is off our driveway!

Ginger's is a destination in itself. If you want to buy a bath tub - this is the store. We are very happy with our air tub. We spent the time to actually sit in many of the tubs in their massive showroom (ok - so we looked ridiculous). The staff is very knowleadable. Also - Summerhill hardware, located in the same building, has a fantastic collection of kitchen knobs ranging from ultra modern to traditional.

Dominion is a true local mainstay - a small store that's packed with high quality and reasonably priced wall to wall carpeting options. Robert was very patient, not pushy and really spent time ensuring we were going to be happy. They did our entire house three years ago and when we had a flood in our basement this spring, I called Robert and he sent a truck out to pick up the rugs for cleaning right away. Excellent service!

My neighbour recommended Rainbow after her wet basement experiences and I can see why. This company acts fast. They arrived within an hour, installed fans, humidifers and counseled me on the short / long term steps needed to eliminate moisture from the basement. Baseboards were temporarily removed and dry wall examined for moisture damage. My wall to wall carpet was removed, cleaned and reinstalled. Their follow up was excellent!

Tracy, the owner, is extremely helpful and provides honest advice and attention to detail. I have been back three times in the past year and consistently receive excellent value and service! I had several things framed - my children's portraits, old university diplomas that had been kicking around the house and some Dutch porcelain tiles that I had wanted to hang. Tracy was able to offer very reasonable framing options each time along with excellent quality. House of 10000 has a great selection!

Cadillac are extremely competitive and they have an excellent product! I like the fact that they come to you, and custom measure and install. My shutter colour was also matched to my window and baseboards. All this service and value for practically the same price as buying off the shelf at a Home Depot.

Junior Heath is a terrific plumber. He was recommended by my general contractor when I had some repairs to a cracked pipe in the garage two years ago. Last year we had a flood in the basement from the water tank and he came several times to help us with various issues - new valve for the water tank, clearing blocked drainage, sewer pipes, etc as we ended up ripping up floors and re-tiling. Not a fun project. But Junior comes when he promises and even waits when your not quite home yet. A super nice guy, quality work and he knows his stuff! He's also been teaching at a local college. PS - dont buy a Rheem water tank - the pressure relief valve opened while we were away and dumped countless litres of water through our basement causing $2K damage. Junior recommened Rudd water tanks for what its worth!

Tropical installed our furnace 4 years ago and have been fantastic on service and follow up every year. Brothers Dave and Dan handle most service calls themselves and really provide excellent advise. They just installed a ductless a/c in our third floor and not only were they lowest of 3 quotes but spent the most time with us - giving comprehensive input to our air flow issues. The installation was also excellent.

Our home 50 year old home had no fireplace (rare) so when we went through the process of installing one in our living room we spent a lot of time looking at the various options: such as Location, Type (gas vs wood burning), Chimney, Mantle Style etc. We really shopped around but at the end of the day were most impressed with Anthony, the owner of Greystone. His showroom is small but the level of knowledge and time he spent helping us map out the right options was exceptional. And when we had a problem the next year he came immediately to trouble shoot. I've just purchased a custom glass door this month from him and I'd use Greystone again for our basement.

This is on of those stores where its hard to stop spending. The Main Course has gorgoeus kitchen and entertaining items. When you need unique candles, a table cloth, bowls, peppermill ... this is the place. They also have a reduced area downstairs where you can get great deals on end of lines!

The Ciot showroom on Lawrence has beautiful tiles, and a great range of styles and prices points. We looked all over the city and this very local store for us was extremely competitive. Find John Tome - I found him extremely knowleadgable and low key. He took a lot of time to review the benefits of going from ceramic to porcelain - and costing out options like heated flooring. And we were a relatively small job. We also returned damaged product without any hassle. Great store!

An outstanding Kitchen company that offers exceptional quality and design. We've been using Millennium for built ins throughout the house for the past 7 years. The one drawback is that they are so busy, be prepared to wait at least 8 weeks. But it is worth the wait. Izhak Shimon, the owner is very involved in the entire process and the installations are always perfect. When one of the panels in the bathroom cracked a few months later, Izhak personally came and fixed it right away. And when our kitchen corner door was loose he replaced the hardware (and the kitchen was already 4 years old!).

Hildi delivered outstanding ideas and ultimately beautiful designs for our home renovation(s). We chose our own contractor to execute her drawings and she worked extremely well with him to ensure the plans were executed properly and as well that specific trades, such as the millworker, were of high calibre. Her follow up after the project was complete has also been excellent.

This place is a hidden gem! It's a small store brimming with high quality and reasonbly priced hostess gifts, pillows, chairs, pillows, neat accents, rugs, art... -all very cool stuff. The owner, Paula, spends a lot of time sourcing unique and beautiful items. I've been buying teachers gifts, which they wrap for me, for the past 3 years and I always find wonderful items.

BB has an excellent selection of both off the rack window coverings and fabric to have custom made drapes and blinds. We bought several window coverings and are really happy with the workmanship. Staff there is very knowledgeable and helpful. Not necessarily a bargain but you get what you pay for - high quality at a reasonable price.
