Had Ryan come over to look at the job and give me a quote. He was a really nice guy and my usual guy was to busy so I gave him the work.
I had two of the rooms finished and showed them to him so he could see the quality of work that was expected. He said it would be no problem and started a few days later.
Things went downhill from here and he was obviously inexperienced in drywall and in over his head.
Just a few of the issues:
He took a 3" chunk out of the front door trip which I heard he and his helper talking about when it happened. When I asked him about it later he denied knowing anything about it.
He didn't put drop clothes down at all, and would just leave globs of wet drywall mud all over the floor to be tracked through out the house
along with pieces of drywall and other debris on the stairs at the end of the day and just walk out.
The work itself is terrible. When I pointed everything out that needed to be fixed he said I could probably just hire somebody to come in and fix them for a few hundred dollars. He also thought that a coat of paint would cover everything up which is the opposite. Paint will only enhance all the problems. I suggested he come back with some Spackula to help with the finsh and asked if I had any because he was short on cash and couldn't buy an 11$ container of Spakula.
I went ahead and put a coat of paint on and as expected it looked terrible. I'm convinced most home owners could have done a better job themselves.
In the end I am having to pay someone else to come in and completely redo the work.
