appliance repair

Do not use this company. They refused to give me even a ballpark quote then, when they showed up, said it would cost $280 (saying it was a flat rate, even though they'd previously said they couldn't give a quote) to even tell me what part my dishwasher required (an additional $50 - $150 - they said they couldn't say how much). Then, re microwave: they wouldn't tell me how much part would cost and demanded service fee before I had basic information necessary for me to decide whether to get the work done.
Complete lack of transparency. Paid the $90 to cut my losses and stop harrassment.

Dishwasher Repair

I can only blame myself for giving this company $316 of my hard-earned money. A quick Google check would have revealed a litany of problems with this company. In short, I paid $316 dollars for the repair guy to look at my washing machine, not fix it. Any place that doesn't accept credit cards as payment isn't a reputable business. It didn't feel right at the time, I should have listened to my gut instinct and walked away. An expensive lesson I won't forget. Congratulations to the owner of this business for praying on his/her consumers.

Fridge Repair

All the sales tactics that give the repair industry a bad name. In short you have to commit to an excessive labour charge, forget getting your call out fee being waived as it is just rolled into an excessive labour charge. Then within minutes of agreeing to the $280 labour charge they tell you that you need a part which they realistically could have established within the initial inspection. They can sell you the part, but it turns out to be twice the cost if you had gone to the manufacturer. At that point you are already heavily committed to the labour...then in spite of having been told not more part safe necessary a further part has to be ordered, and so it goes. The basic call out should cover establishing the total cost of repair. Technically not as competent as I would have expected and certainly lacking integrity in their approach to their customer. Strongly suggest you look elsewhere for repair work.

Dryer

Give this business a call when you need repairs! I am so glad I called Appliance Repair Guys when my dryer broke down. They did an amazing job, finally getting my dryer to work after a week of trying everything I could think of to fix it myself. Best part of all, they charged me fairly, and verbally outlined what I was being charged for in terms of the repair. Highly recommend and thanks again.

Stove

I still feel nothing but tremendous relief thanks to Appliance Repair Guys. They have saved me from having to buy a new stove (and burning a new hole in my wallet). The workers here were great, assessing my damages in a fair and clear manner. They came in, fixed it, and checked in with me in less than a week. Highly suggest these repair people for the great job they do.

service

i called the appliance repair guys in May to fix the hinge on my oven door and stove knob. After a service call (that lasted 1 1/2 hours) they found the model number under the burner. I was told they were going to order the parts in a few days and call me to schedule the repair. I paid for the service fee of $80 dollars and waited for their call. A week went by and I had not heard from them yet. I called them and they told me that the model number they had was wrong, if I could give them the model number. I gave them the model number and waited again. As they did not return my call, I called them back. This time they said they would order the parts, but I had a put a deposit. My husband wanted to go with a different company, but as i had paid for the service fee and they would deduct it from the total charge, I decided to stick with them. BIG MISTAKE!!!! I put a deposit down of $200 and two weeks later, they still had not called me schedule the repair. I called them AGAIN, and they sent a guy named Tony to fix it. I had stepped out to get my children from school and my baby sitter let him in. After fixing the hinge, he call me to tell me he has good news and bad news. I was baffled. How can he have bad news? We are not talking about brain surgery, and after all this time... They ordered the wrong knob!!!!! I told I had to pay for the service then and they would deduct the cost of the knob ($30). I told them I was going to pay in full when the service was complete. I needed the knob. My house has been sold and I need the stove in working order as part of the Purchase and Sale agreement. I can't trust them to bring me the knob after the service was paid, as they have showed me they are not reliable. They threatened to remove the hinges, were very rude and only left after i said they were trespassing and I would call the police. The customer service rep called me and I told her that I would pay when I got the knob. That the service was not complete. She was very rude. My husband ended up paying for the full service so we could just move on. I am now stuck with finding a new knob for my stove on my own (after spending $500.00 to repair my stove and oven).

washer

DO NOT USE APPLIANCE REPAIR GUYS UNLESS YOU WANT TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We own a company that relies heavily on our washer/dryer. When our washer started to leak, we needed it fixed asap. I called Appliance Repair Guys because they offered same/next day appointments. Like others, I was told by the technician that for $280 he could run a diagnostic test, and often times he could find and fix the problem at no additional cost. If we needed a part that he had to order, it would cost us extra for that part. The part arrived approximately 4 days later (on the Friday or Saturday) and our next appointment was scheduled for the following Tuesday. We got a call Tuesday morning to say the wrong part had been ordered. By the time all was said and done, we were without a washer for 2 weeks. Considering it was the company's fault for ordering the wrong part, we were expecting something of a compensation. Anything at this point would have been acceptable, but something to recognize the inconvenience that we had been dealing with.
The customer service rep (who claimed to be the manager) was willing to do NOTHING for us, stating that it wasn't their fault. They had ordered the correct part, but their supplier sent the wrong part.
I own a business myself, and regardless of who's fault something is, I make sure the customer leaves happy. This is what customer service is. The 'manager' refused to transfer me to her boss after me repeatedly asking. She just kept stating what the remainder of my bill was. Extremely disappointed in how I was treated. Will NEVER use this company again.

Washing Machine

Appliance Repair Guys saved my wife from having a nervous breakdown when our washing machine broke down one day. We were just so upset at the idea of having to replace it and so we made a call to this business the next day. The entire process, from the call to the repair, took less than 3 days. I can't believe they were so prompt. Definitely recommend for your appliance repairs when you need it fixed in a jiffy.

Microwave Repair

Like other reviewers on this site, I accept some blame for using this TERRIBLE COMPANY as a repair service without having done my homework in advance. It was a simple repair of a microwave that ballooned to almost $500. The technician broke a part and the company refused to replace for free, and instead attempted to charge us for the part PLUS shipping if we wanted to install ourselves. If you found your way to this review site through researching this the Appliance Guys online, I'm sure the multiple reviews of 0 stars will lead you in a different direction. If not, check out articles by the Star and Hamilton Spectator, reviews on Better Business Bureau, Yelp, etc. They all point to how horrendous this company is to deal with, and the complete lack of customer service. I can't recall having felt this ripped-off ever. If your budget is tight and you are thinking repair is a better way to go than replace, than DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, or there is a good chance you will OVERPAY FOR THE REPAIR AND STILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE APPLIANCE. There seem to be good repair companies out there who will work quickly, honestly, and to a fair price. This is not one of them.
