Plumbing issues

Today plumber Jason Bierworth attended my home to clear a main sewer line and install a new toilet for us. He arrived within the two hour time range I was given. He worked hard to unplug the line which necessitated him getting a heavier duty piece of equipment from the shop mid-job. He installed a toilet after that and cleaned up nicely after himself. He then explained the invoice for his work to me. Thanks Jason.

Install 1 1/2 " PVC/ABS P-Trap extension

JB, a plumber, is a pleasant, knowledgeable young man. He had previously, dismantled the laundry tub. This visit he had to reinstall the laundry tub in a slightly different position and modify the plumbing in order to make the tub functional. He had all the tools, the pipes and fittings needed. He kept the work space clean, wore his booties as per protocol and tidied up when he had finished the job. It was a real pleasure to have him complete the required work in a timely, efficient and good natured manner.

A/C Regular Maintenance

-Brandon Baldwin was the technician who checked over my A/C today.
-Brandon called me in advance and arrived when he said he would. -Brandon was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable.
-Brandon thoroughly looked over my unit, changed the filter and made sure I understood how to change the thermostat batteries when it came time to do so (after volunteering to do it himself).
-In a nutshell, Brandon did a great job and I would recommend him to others.

Great Technicians, Terrible Booking People

Nov. 2016 (General Tune-up and Review): The technician showed up on time and seemed to be very knowledgeable. Our home is new to us and we'd never had anyone inspect both our furnace & A/C unit other than the basic stuff done by our home inspector. We learned that the furnace gas intake had not been calibrated properly the last time it was serviced (... if ever) and now, we might save as much as 1/3 of gas when the pilot has to be lit. The only down side was although he was able to say we'd have 1-3 years left on both units, he wasn't able to even ballpark what a replacement would be to save for replacements. Still grateful for all the things we learned and to know that everything is running more efficiently.

Update, 11 months later (June 2017): After having our A/C unit disconnected for foundation work, we recently tried multiple times to book an appointment for an A/C reconnect and repair and kept getting appointments cancelled or rescheduled on us. I gather if you call outside business hours, you get a call centre where the representatives have little to no comprehension of the English language. The representatives also didn't have access to previous technician's notes, which would have been super helpful in our situation to explain why we needed a longer than normal service appointment. It turns out that when our unit was disconnected, the advice of the technician was that we shouldn't repair it... this would have been great information for them to share with us! It is unfortunate that no paperwork, or email, was provided upon completion of the disconnect. Overall an incredibly frustrating experience with no apologies offered by the company. We will be taking all future business elsewhere and recommend that you do the same.

No AC on a Hot day.

Our Ac went down in the middle of the night. This is no good for a family of 5 in the middle of July. One phone call and someone was on the way. They said they would be here at a certain time and they were here at that time. Quick and Friendly service. Top Notch.

Professional, Fast, Efficient,Friendly, Knowledgeable and Courteous

So, last year or so, we had to have our drains "snaked" after a minor backup. We were advised then by the service tech, that we should have this done every year/ year and a half to prevent a major backup. Well, yesterday ( July 10.2016)we had that telltale little bubble at the floor drain, and my wife called Roy Inch. The appointment was set for July 11.2016 @ 16:30.

I booked time off work, and was home when Jason B. ( 319-0021, called at roughly 16:00 to say he was going to be here at 16:35. True to his word ( actually the GPS' calculation as he told me on the phone), he was here on the dot. Right from stepping out of his van, he was professional , courteous , friendly, and courteous. He was already aware that he was here to snake the drains, and asked me the easiest way to our basement. I showed him to the basement, and to both drain access points. He then got out his equipment, and went to work. " I laughed when he rolled out the "Red Carpet" down my stairs. but it sure is appreciated.

Jason was fast and knowledgeable. There was no mess of any kind. Jason gets an "A+"

The only negative, is the "Service Fee" of $99.00.

We called to have our Drains Snaked. I did not require diagnostics. We told you what the job was. You charged me $145.00 for that( plus the obligatory taxes). That was the "Service" you provided.

I am very happy with the "Service", provided by Jason, but I am not at all happy about the "Service Fee" that RIS charges above that . I will call RIS again next year to have this done again, but only if the so called "service Fee" is not charged. It is a very simple job, with easy access, and I can quite easily do it my self.( Mind you it will need to wait until a day when I'm off work to rent a snake).

Approximate cost of services:
$275.72

Annual maintenance contract

The technician was to service the furnace and air conditioner. He unsoliciated looked at the hot water heater and found the overflow valve to be non functional and instead of asking if we wanted it repaired, he threatened to turn off the gas if my wife (elderly) didn't authorize him to make the repairs and used intimidation tactics to have her agree immediately. He also said the overflow piping was missing when we know for certain it wasn't.this firm installed the furnace right next to the water heater and has been servicing it for the past four years and never once indicated a problem. In the end the technician tagged the heater, put on the tag that we refused to sign it ( a blatant mis truth ) and shut off the gas. He left stating the furnace warranty was now void as only his firm can service it for warranty work. As a point of interest, another firm was called, arrived within the hour, and their price for the call, parts and labor, was considerably less than Roy Inches price quoted to a repeat customer while already on site. Because of these dishonourable and deceitful tactics to intimidate, we will never allow Roy Inch on the premises again. One would hope this isn't how they train their technicians.

Cracked Valve on Ejector Pipe

Last evening, we discovered that the brass shut off valve on our ejector pipe was cracked...things got a little wet. We called RI and were given an ETA for someone to come out and save the day the next afternoon. Jason B called ahead and arrived 45 minutes early (we all know how awful it is to wait and wonder, so I appreciated the call). He checked things out, flew back to the city for the part he needed & was back in no time. He was super friendly, courteous, & professional and was willing to offer advice about connected floor drains and other pipes that will definitely help us going forward. The only part I didn't like was paying the bill, but wuddya do, eh? I would definitely recommend Jason to anyone who needs a plumber. Thanks Jason - you're a rockstar!
