Swat Wildlife and Insulation

Called SWAT Wildlife just yesterday. Arrived today right on time plus called ahead to say they would be here soon. Very friendly - very polite - a pleasure to deal with. Really knew what they were doing too. Straight to business - had a very large mother raccoon and her two babies found and removed within 20 minutes. Just great. Raccoon removal is quite expensive but I spoke to quite a few companies before hand and really SWAT are very reasonably priced compared to others (especially after now experiencing the level of service and competence). Plus they relocate the animals - not all the others seemed to be too bothered. Really impressed and highly recommended.

We called SWAT with 3 issues: We had droppings under the enclosed concrete back porch; We had urine come through the bathroom exhaust vent onto the floor!; and there was a hole open to the underside of the front porch that I didn't want to cover without knowing that no animals were trapped inside. Patty from SWAT called us at the beginning of our time window to let us know that Ken would be here in half an hour, which I appreciated. Ken was very helpful and went through all our issues, placing rat-proof screening over the hole to the front porch after checking for animals. He told us it is Norway rats that are accessing our back porch, and put one-way doors over the places they were getting in. He went on the roof, and found signs of mice in our attic space and placed bait there. The mice are presumably accessing our bathroom exhaust vent from the attic or subfloor, so it is up to us now to clean out that vent and fill in holes we find to keep mice from accessing the vent. Ken then did an inside inspection, and showed us signs that we have mice inside our home (droppings behind the oven). We'd had no idea. He place bait behind the kitchen cabinet in the sink area, and did the same in the basement sink area. While inspecting our house, Ken noticed that a piece of soffit or fascia was open, and climbed up and closed it off so no animals find their way in. He also foamed in the spot outside the second floor where some air conditioner piping exits the house and there was space left open around the piping where animals could get in as well. He didn't charge us for those two items, and I appreciated having those two things done, as I had been meaning to have them done, but didn't know who to hire to do them. The last thing he did was to put screening over the roof vents so that the bigger animals won't get in. I don't think it works for mice, so he recommended having the bait replaced every 8 months to one year to keep the mice population down. The bait is green sticks of anticoagulant, and Ken said that it works in a way that dries out the remains so that there is nothing left that rots or smells. Ken also noticed our ant problem and took the time to give us some info and recommendations about that, even though the company does not deal with ant control. When I called 2 weeks later with questions, he took time to answer my questions and welcomed me to call him back with any other questions.

Ken came out to see us soon after, despite the fact that this was a cold and snowy day.

After a thorough investigation (attic and external points), Ken told us what we were up against and made his recommendations. He secured the entry points and potential entry points to help secure our home.He also gave us tips for communicating with our attached neighbour to have their entry points secured to avoid a re-entry of the unwanted guests. Unfortunately, the neighbour did not immediately comply, so we had to undergo another invasion as Ken had predicted. Despite his confidence in his work and the guarantee of the company, Ken was willing to come back out and check our home to make sure none of the work he had done had been compromised.

Ken has displayed very professional behaviour, and his explanation of wildlife and their needs gave us a better understanding of why they chose our home, and what we can do to prevent similar issues in future.

Thankfully, our neighbours have now completed their own screening and we are all hopeful that we have seen the last of the uninvited guests.

Our one 'disappointment' with the company is that they do not offer cleaning and disinfecting services, as we would have loved to continue the mutually beneficial professional relationship. We are very grateful for Ken's positive, professional and confident attitude as we lived with the unwelcome and sleep-disturbing sounds.

It is our hope that we never have to go through this experience again, but in the unfortunate event that we do, our first call will be to SWAT.

We heard something in our chimney on Sunday and called SWAT on Monday morning. As it was spring and a very busy time, they couldn't make it until the next day. On Tuesday morning we noticed mama squirrel had made her way into the fireplace and couldn't get back up to the nest. Ken arrived right on time and was personable and professional. He did a great job of removing mama, two babies and the nest and capping the chimney. He mentioned the possibility of more babies and said he would return if we heard anything. Sure enough one was left behind. Ken was out within a few hours of my call, to install the ladder. (At no additional cost)
We were very pleased with the overall service and would recommend SWAT to anyone.

My wife and I have been using SWAT WILDIFE Services for several years now. We are always thrilled with Derek’s exceptional ability to effectively deal with any animal related issue efficiently and humanely. He truly cares a lot about the animals and approaches each situation strategically.

I recently stopped in at home for a brief moment only to be confronted face to face with a strange looking creature I'd personally never seen before…a possum! I was not quite sure what to do about this creature, as he looked confused and disoriented sitting on our fence. I know that possums have very sharp teeth and claws and can hurt other animals, such as our cats. I have heard they can kill cats. There are many cats in our neighborhood. Quite concerned about this, I contacted Derek who further educated me that possums are notorious for entering cat doors (which we have) and that they can become quite aggressive if cornered. This caused me much concern as I feared the possum might one day enter the cat door, become confused as to how to get out, and then attack our cats or any human present. Fortunately, Derek informed me he was only 10 minutes away and would come right over. I was so impressed with how quickly Derek was on the scene and how he efficiently and humanely managed to safely trap the possum! Derek was able to determine that the possum was a male, who had not yet formed all his teeth (though they looked pretty ferocious and sharp to me). I greatly appreciated that Derek said he would not have taken the possum if it was a female with babies in the vicinity. Derek was able to relocate the possum to a safe ravine area. Thank you, Derek! You are amazing! We highly recommend Derek and SWAT Wildlife Services.

After realizing we had some sort of wildlife making our attic home, we called SWAT at 8:30 am on Monday morning. Derick was at our house by noon and quickly determined the problem - a little lonely bachelor racoon in our roof. Because we're in a semi-detached, we needed the neighbour's permission to close a hole on their roof before proceeding with the extraction. Derick returned the next day and it took him less than an hour to coax the fella out, seal up the access hole and reinforce our roof vents. We're extremely happy with the whole process and found Derick and the phone staff at SWAT really pleasant to deal with. Worth every penny.

I phoned swat this morning for a racoon removal in my chimney/ceiling. They set up an appointment that afternoon. Ken gave me a call about an hour before the appointment to confirm, he showed up right on time and an hour and a bit later he had finished his assessment and completed the work. He Made a plan to come back in 3-4 days to remove the one way door and replace it with something more permanent (included in cost, don't need to be home).

Professional, FAST, EASY, reasonable price. What more can you ask for? Don't hesitate to call these guys.

We had some facia pulled down and assumed it may be wildlife. Ken came to the residence and immediately confirmed that it was a racoon and babies.He initially recovered 7 babies but the mother and one baby took him a bit of a wild goose chase around the attic. Ken was very resourceful and ultimately extricated the mother and baby. He was very humane with his approach. The entry point and one other possible entry area were fixed so the no more racoons will find a home in the facia and attic. I was very impressed with this companies work and would call them again for any similar problem should it occur

Ken was very professional and did a wonderful job plucking out this duck from our commercial building. If we ever experience this again, I will make sure to call Swat Wild Life.

Based on Homestars reviews, we contacted SWAT for help with some pigeons nesting in various locations on our roof. Ken and Adrian came out two days later, on time, assessed the situation and proposed an effective solution. They removed a nest that was in a covered nook outside a second floor bathroom. and screened off the area to deter future generations. They did a fantastic job, they were quick and the screen they installed is barely visible. SWAT is coming back to install spikes along one of our eavestroughs and we have no doubt that this work will be done expertly as well.
