called about leaky kitchen faucet and outside taps. Plumber advised that Clearview doesn't fix outside tap leaks, they only replace taps. Why not advise customers of this policy up front as the estimates provided were far too pricey for my budget and I'm sure there are plumbers out there who will fix a leaky tap. As for leaky faucet, the plumber initially advised that a part was cracked but proceeded to only remove some calcium buildup and turn the o-rings. Claimed it no longer leaked and charged me the call-out fee. Well the faucet still leaks so I called Clearview. They claimed their man had 'fixed' the leak as a courtesy at no charge so no warranty and I would have to pay a call out fee again to have them properly service. While I realize the call out fee is standard and I wasn't charged over and above that, I didn't take a day off work to request an expensive quote, a visual inspection or a 'courtesy' fix. I requested a repair. So why not fix it right the first time? Sounds like a ruse to gouge customers for multiple call out fees. Will not use again.

Company Response

Hello Cathy, Thank you for your comments.
I’m sorry to hear about your experience. This is definitely not a usual occurrence at our business. Our highly trained technicians do their best to offer you options and costs to fit your budget. I understand that your technician attempted an adjustment on your faucet at no additional charge to you. If that didn’t work we should consider a new faucet? We would appreciate a chance to help resolve this for you, please give us a call at the office so we can discuss solutions. Jennifer

Toilet replacement

Clayton did a wonderful job replacing all 3 toilets in our house. He was honest, punctual and clearly explained to me every step of the process, the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of toilets that were being considered as well as the warranty details. He did the installation in a clean and efficient manner. I would definitely call him again for any plumbing problems I might have in the future. Thanks!

Anton

Avoid at all costs (pun intended)

Plumbing - performed a very expensive hydro jet service ($1400) which damaged the check valve. Before diagnosing the real problem, was told we had bellies in the pipe and quoted $11K to replace the pipe - dig up my developed basement, replace the pipe and backfill the concrete. No repairs to demo included. Got a second opinion and found due to check valve being damaged during hydro jet, it was jamming up the pipe and causing backups. Fixed check valve for $550 (included camera, snake the drain and fix check valve). Imagine being quoted $11k to repair damages caused by one of their previous jobs!

In a parallel issue, our furnace went out and was told we needed a new one so bit the bullet and paid $6k for that. First install had misaligned metal work patches with aluminum tape to cover up the gaps and the duct from the furnace to humidifier was not even attached. Two days later the furnace starts sounding like an engine due to the amount of loose aluminum tape that was applied. Second tech comes and says it’s repaired. Get home today and find a large puddle in my basement as the duct had detached once again. So now they are coming a third time and after the plumbing issue being misdiagnosed I question if I needed a new furnace in the first place. Don’t trust this company, find a real professional that doesn’t up sell atrociously and can actually diagnose and fix a problem as opposed to charging a lot of money to create the next one.

Colyn was a great technician.

Colyn was a great technician. We called about a leaky faucet. He provided a 1/2 hour notice text, and arrived on time. He communicated the problem clearly and was quick to install our new faucet. Thanks Colyn.

Not fairly priced

This company is over-priced, I would never use them again. It cost $670 to replace our bathtub faucet cartridge. The technician spent more time creating an estimate to include things we did not ask for (new hot water tank, replacing hoses), then he did fixing the issue (which took about 30 minutes). The price is very unfair and we felt that we were taken advantage of. As mentioned by other reviewers, go somewhere else if you can.

Furnace repair

We were very pleased with the emergency service on Christmas Day from Clayton. Our furnace stopped working and it was -30• outside. Thankfully, he had the required parts in his van and was able to make the repair quickly. We signed up for the annual maintenance schedule as we hadn’t been looking after this ourselves.

Overcharged

We were out of town and out of cell phone range and so preauthorized the work to be done on our rental property. They changed two seats and two washers and charged us $540.00. I contacted another plumber for a quote, let's call him Pete, and he estimated the job would cost between $175 and $225. ClearView offered us a 10% rebate but we would have to sign a form saying we were completely satisfied, which we weren't, so that is where it all ended. I have no complaints about the work, but cannot see how anyone would think spending $540 to fix a leaky tap is reasonable. Save your money, call another plumber.

BEWARE!

BEWARE!
I live in Calgary. I was told on two separate phone calls that the call out fee is $69. When the individual arrived, he said that is the 'travel fee'. To actually go down and look at my boiler would be an additional $160. This is utterly deceptive.

If that were not enough, he gave me a quote to replace my boiler with a tankless/water softener for close to $14,000!
I ended up going with a very well known and respected Calgary company that charged $7300 for a higher end tankless (Rinnai recirc) and higher end softener (Kinetico).

Clearview wanted an additional $7000. I'm speechless. This company is driving it's business based on fake reviews. That's indeed how they got me - they are piggy backing the bulk of fake reviews on well respected sites such as Google and BBB.

Shame on them. Do you research and don't be tricked like I was to get them to come to your house for '$69'.
