We needed peace of mind with our gas stove and Protech came through better than we couldve imagined. Jessie could have come in, ran a couple quick checks and said it all looks good, taken his fee, and they wouldve, technically fulfilled their obligation to us. Instead, Jessie understood there was genuine concern for safety, and took the time and effort to ease our minds by thoroughly checking every part of our gas stove and showing us how everything looked and functioned. He was as thorough as possible and was patient and kind throughout. This is a business that truly treats customers like they would their own family. This is the service we would all hope for, but dont always experience. Protech will give you the service you want combined with the skillset required to do the job. We completely endorse and will continue to promote Protech to our friends and family for all future gas fitting needs. They are fully deserving of their Homestars awards.

I have had good success with Homestars in the past. This has been the absolute worst experience. I called to have my bypass valve replaced on my hot water tank. On the day of the first appointment, I got a call about 10 mins before the scheduled time to inform me my tech had become very ill and I would have to reschedule. They apologized and explained they would waive the standard $80 fee for coming out at my rescheduled appt. On the rescheduled day, the tech arrived on time, and proceeded to ask what the issue was and what I wanted done. I explained that the bypass valve would leak and I needed it replaced. He asked me to show him, at which time I turned up the temp on my hot water tank to show him. Since it takes some time to heat up, we went upstairs and he started writing up the service quote. He proceeded to write up pages of potential services he could sign me up for, all at vastly higher prices than I had ever seen before, $1000 to install a humidifier? That should have been my first warning. Before he had finished writing up his quote, I decided to go downstairs and check my hot water tank, and as I had seen before, water was pouring out of the bypass valve and the floor was soaked. When I finally talked the tech into only providing the service I had originally requested, he proceeded with the task of emptying my hot water tank. In the end, the job was done well, but the up-sale attempt and exhorbitant charge of almost $600 left a very sour taste in my mouth. They refused to give any quote over the phone, which is ironic considering how quickly the tech was willing to quote additional potential services once at my house. The person on the phone claimed, she couldn't give a quote as she can't be sure of the service required. However the tech made many (incorrect) assumptions when he wrote up his pages of quotes from his catalogue of services. If you need basic work done, move along, there are better options out there that will not break the bank. It felt like paying someone $100 to change my light bulbs.

Todd came by for the estimate in a timely manner and we discussed the options to remove the carpet in our home. His pricing was very competitive and he is honest and straight-forward with his scheduling. We had very a tight timeline as we wanted to have the flooring installed before we moved in. Once our flooring arrived, Todd squeezed us into his busy schedule and came out and, as we had requested, completed enough of the flooring so we could move in. He did a fantastic job and made sure to clean up so we didn't have a dust-filled house. The job he did on both sets of our stairs was amazing and we get compliments on the great, detailed work all the time. We look forward to having Todd return when we replace some older laminate flooring in the summer.
