New Lennox Furnace and New Lennox Central Air

Found Stouffville Home & Comfort, Ltd on Homestars, and was very satisfied with their great service. Right from our meeting with Mitchel, who came and gave us a quote and also educated us on what we may need. The team of men who came to our home worked very well together and did a great job. Nice to see! Would recommend this company any time.
THANK YOU

Lennox furnace: EL296UHV and A/C: XC14

I concur with the review of JRW in Stouffville. Communication response time is slow some times, frustrating and therefore, so is the timeliness of my review. My furnace and A/C was installed at the end of July. I think Mitchell is over-whelmed, but when he does show up, I quite like to listen to his knowledge and advice. He is a sincere, honest, intelligent, hard-working, young man. Brian can be pro-active in responding. I want to thank him for calling me with an attractive offer for a new furnace and A/C, after reviewing my quote and pointing out the rebates. Dimitry and Costas did a clean installation. Considering this installation was done in late July, we have had only a couple of hot days for the A/C to operate in this strange summer. The Lennox variable speed furnace/AC runs quietly and efficiently. I look forward to 6 months of winter to see how well my investment functions. If you are having a problem in getting a timely response, call Robyn at the office. She will look after you and rattle someone's chains. I have entered into a commitment with this company for the future. I think I have made the right choice.

Duct cleaning, Dryer vent cleaning, Duct installation and repair

Dave is simply amazing to work with. He arrives on time, is available evening and weekends, is very responsive via phone and SMS and his prices are more than competitive. I cannot say enough about his workmanship, trustworthiness and attention to details. Dave is a problem solver and always works to find the best and cost effective solution to any issues that he encounters. Dave has worked on all my income properties( carpet cleaning, vent cleaning, duct installation, dryer vent cleaning...) It's truly a pleasure working with him. Even better Dave has begun doing handywork and is executing several projects in another of my income property. Dave is great person to have in your network of "repairmen/handymen"! I highly recommend Dave and his work and will continue to use his services.

New Lennox AC & Furnace Installation

It was finally time to replace the AC and furnace. Both incumbent units were Lennox. After 26 years of reliable and trouble free service, it was time to send them out to pasture and bring in something modern and energy efficient. So I decided to stick with the Lennox brand again because it has provided years of good reliable service.

I had dealt with Brian at Stouffville Home and Comfort last year for an AC install at my other property and my good friend had also contracted Brian to replace his furnace, AC and tankless water heater. I have read nothing but glowing reviews on Red Flag Deals (RFD) forums and right here on Homestars as well.

So it was a no brainer for me really. I contacted Brian and he arrived with Mitchell to assess my property. He recommended the Lennox XC14-24 (3 ton) along with the C33-31B Evaporator Coil and EL296UH070XV36B 2 Stage ECM Furnace and a Lennox Healthy Comfort 16-28 Merv 10 Media Filter.

Installation date was set for August 1st and the install team led by Demitry was on time at 8:00AM. It was a crew of 3. They were able to remove my old AC & furnace and install the new hardware in about 4.5 hours. Everything went very well, the crew did a great job and they cleaned everything up. 2 thumbs up !!!

There was an issue with the new hardware and the new thermostat. I decided to go with a Honeywell thermostat instead of going with the Lennox iComfort thermostat. What happened was that the AC and the furnace were going on at the same time....YIKES!!!

Mitchell was sent later that evening to troubleshoot and a solution could not be found after testing the wires and replacing the Honeywell thermostat with another unit.

So the furnace was turned off and the AC was allowed to operate as it was a hot and muggy long Civic holiday weekend. But it was later discovered that the AC would just run non-stop. The temperature was set to 23 C and the fan was set to auto. But when the inside temperature reached 20 C, the AC just kept on going.

I contacted Brian and he was very quick to respond and address the issue. He contacted Honeywell and Lennox. The issue was solved. Apparently, the Honeywell thermostats energy saving function was conflicting with the Lennox software (ROM). I was never a fan of the Honeywell thermostats because their menu and functions are so difficult to access that one would need an Engineering degree from MIT to understand it IMHO. It is not intuitive at all which is surprising because these are Residential/Consumer thermostats !!!

Well, Mitchell returned once again on the following Tuesday to install a Lennox iComfort thermostat and BINGO....the world is right again. My advice to future Lennox furnace buyers is to spend the little extra and get the iComfort thermostat an save yourself the possible hassle with software conflicts. It seems that every piece of hardware with their own proprietary software is becoming the norm now in my opinion.

But I commend Brian and the team at Stouffville Home and Comfort for addressing the issue and solving the issue rather quickly. I can and have already recommended Stouffville Home and Comfort to my family and friends.

AC installation

We spent close to $6,000 to have a “Gold Series” American Standard air conditioner (15 SEER) as well as a larger furnace filter and steam humidifier installed by Stouffville Home and Comfort May 2012 in our newly built home. We were persuaded by their promises of skilled installation and quality products which justified the higher price. In June 2014, 2 years and 2 weeks after the installation, the air conditioner was no longer cooling. A service call to Stouffville Home and Comfort detected that there was no Freon in the air conditioner. They could not locate the leak and their proposed solution was to refill the 7.5 lbs of Freon at $50 per pound, add in a sealant to plug a leak that could not be located, and charge for labour. We paid $900 to fix a 2 year old air conditioner.

We would not recommend Stouffville Home and Comfort nor American Standard as neither took responsibility for an air conditioner which leaked all of its Freon within 2 years.

EDIT - August 17, 2014

As soon as Stouffville Home and Comfort realized my concerns, Brian contacted me directly to make things right. We have come to an agreement and I'm pleased to update my initial review to now state that Stouffville Home and Comfort does indeed care about their customers and will work with them to resolve problems. My issue is now with American Standard and not Stouffville Home and Comfort as Brian has looked after my interest

Company Response

Hello Douglas

I am very sorry that you are not happy with your experience with our company or service. It is unfortunate that your system became defective outside of the warranty period. We tried to remedy the situation with you and in person you stated that you were pleased with the service and the discounts we were able to provide to you . Unfortunately the manufacturer was not willing to do more due to the time it was installed. There are extended warranties available through the manufacturer that are available for purchase as well as a extended service plan with our company . If you had taken part in any of these options to you would have been covered for this repair . It is rare that a problem like this arises but this is why we have the extended plans as a piece of mind. If you were not pleased with the service I would encourage you to call me directly to discuss and we can do our best to satisfy you as we do with all of our customers. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly to discuss.

Brian

Gas Fireplace

Excellent service by technicians. Removal of original wood burning fireplace was more difficult than anticipated. Tech's completed the work safely and with care. Job also included re-routing a BBQ line and replacing exhaust/intake lines for the furnace. Excellent work all around and would recommend.

Furnace, AC and Full Ductwork

We completely converted from Electric Baseboard Heating and Ductless AC to a complete HVAC system. They were competitively priced and very professional. Brian and Andy answered our questions/concerns during the the initial consolation and overview of what the job entailed. John, Matt and the crew were wonderful and very professional, they answered all our concerns and they treated our house with care. John did not hesitate to counsel us and get our input whenever something needed to be modified or done differently then initially anticipated.
I would highly recommend them.
