MOving of selected furniture including antiques and houseplants

Tender Touch lived up to its name. The two movers, Dwight and Justin, were totally careful with the pieces we moved. All was well wrapped, packed with care, delivered, unwrapped and re-assembled.
The estimate was accurate. The movers arrived 30 minutes late; but I did receive a call of explanation and apology.

Home Move

I had very high expectations of Tender Touch based on the Homestar reviews I read prior to hiring them. Those expectations were exceeded during my move. Elvis and his team (special shout out to George, Derek, Wade and Dwight) were professional, diligent and friendly (not to mention damn strong! Our things were moved quickly but with great care. Service from the office team has also been superlative.

We always moved ourselves prior to this - due somewhat to the many horror stories we'd heard about moving companies in the past. After using Tender Touch, we are now firm believers in letting experts do the job! Great work guys.

Moving

I decided to go with Tender Touch Moving based on a friend's recommendation, after I complained to her about a bad experience with movers two years ago.

During my previous move, the movers showed up nearly two hours late, so I was very surprised when Dwight and Joe showed up on the dot of 9:00 a.m. - the "approximate" time given to me by the woman who had taken my booking. I was really stressed that morning - as most people are during the turmoil of moving - and Dwight was instantly reassuring. "We'll take care of everything," he promised. "You just sit and drink your coffee and leave it to us."

Both Dwight and Joe were super-efficient, sizing up the situation and diving right in. Joe was speedy at getting the boxes down the stairs and out to the truck with very little fuss. Dwight was super-careful with the pieces that I was most concerned about, taking the time to wrap my really valuable furniture in blankets so that they wouldn't get damaged, and wrapping the cloth furniture in plastic so that it didn't get dirty. They effectively troubleshot a problem with getting my kitchen table out the front door, taking the door off its hinges to allow them access, and then putting it back afterwards. They checked in with me periodically to make sure I was happy with how things were going, and that I was satisfied with the service. They also took the time to listen to me when I expressed concern about particularly fragile pieces.

At the storage unit, they were equally speedy and efficient, and managed to get all the contents from my one-bedroom apartment safely into a tiny 8x10 space, with room to spare!

I would definitely use Tender Touch again and I give Dwight and Joe my highest recommendation.

Moving into storage from our home

We moved with Tender Touch and almost everything was damaged or missing. Our wood floors were scratched and we paid double what was quoted. pure hell!!!
First off, all our furniture was destroyed. Legs were missing from our sofa. Our headboard was scratched. Screws had been stripped and glass was broken. This move cost us about $10000.00 in damages and replacement parts.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I have to admit when I first saw the 0 rating; I almost fell off my chair.

After looking into the details of your move on the paperwork and the conversation that you had with Erika via telephone yesterday, I was able to piece together the details.

The paperwork indicates that the portion of your move that was completed using Tender Touch took place about 5 months ago The survey that you completed on move day indicated that all items were padded, the floors were protected, the beds were bagged and the sofas were shrunk wrapped – all to minimize damage during moving. Furthermore, in the conversation that you had with Erika, you said that your husband was supervising the offloading into the public storage unit and everything appeared to be fine so you were not really sure what had happened.

You hired our services for a move from your home to a public storage locker approximately 5 months ago. As the items were going to a public storage locker and being unpadded and stacked, our movers had you sign a DAMAGE WAIVER for placing all your unpadded furniture in the storage locker. Our responsibility for your goods ended when we delivered the pieces into the locker in satisfactory condition. After unpadding and stacking the furniture, the items are at your own risk as we cannot be responsible for them after this point. There is an inherent risk in stacking furniture unpadded anywhere as this is not how furniture is meant to be placed, especially high quality expensive furniture, it’s not worth the RISK – they are designed to be placed one piece at a time into a room. Stacking is only possible with the proper protection like furniture pads to protect from gouges and scratches in a movers storage facility as advised. There is also added risk in a public storage locker especially after 5 months as other tenants from adjoining lockers move in and out. During their moves, the walls push up against your goods as the walls are usually flexible steel or drywall on steel studs which allow movement in the wall thus shifting your items, potentially causing damage. Another added risk is when a tenant goes into their own storage locker to look for items and shuffle items around. The greatest and most likely cause for damage in this type of scenario comes when moving out of a public storage unit. Using friends and family members who are not trained as movers to try to curb costs. They load the furniture onto a u-haul truck and once again stack the furniture without proper padding, causing further damage. Not to mention the damage caused during physically moving the items into the new home.

I suspect that there is a very good chance that there will be damage to items at the time of delivery using this route for moving.

Our movers performed only ½ of your move and given the facts, everything was fine up to the point of delivery of the items to the locker before we had the waiver signed. We would be happy to be responsible for your complete move but the circumstances would need to be different. The furniture picked up by our movers would need to be inventoried for count and condition, padded (which they were) and then placed in OUR storage facility (where they would remain padded for the entire length of your stay in storage) and sealed in crates (as opposed to lockers with flexible walls) until delivery to your new residence occurred. The items would be rechecked for damages at this point. In this scenario, we would accept full responsibility for your goods during your entire move.

This is truly an example of how not to try to save money on a move as in the long run, the costs truly outweigh the savings.

On a final note, you mentioned your floor was scratched at pickup on the phone with Erika and on your HomeStars review in the bedroom. You repaired it 5 months ago but you didn’t want to bother us and are only advising us about it now after the repair has been complete for $ 500.00 (without proof) and the new owners have moved in. I don’t understand why this would be a bother. If we damaged your floor at pickup it would have been our pleasure to send someone by and repair any damage we may have caused without cost to you.

In this case we did everything we could to limit the chance of damage in the storage locker once we were gone and clearly advised you on a DAMAGE WAIVER which you signed. We cannot be responsible for actions arising after the fact nor can we take responsibility of the work of others.

We stand behind our service 100% as you can see by the many positive reviews on this web site.

Moving & packing

These were hands down the best movers I've ever had! Friendly, professional and respectful. I wasn't nervous once that they would forget they were packing/moving my personal possessions and that they were in a home, not just a building. AND they came in under budget!

Move

The team of Dwight, Elvis, and Joe did a tremendous job moving our belongings from one apartment to another. They were courteous, efficient, and extremely helpful. Aside from the expertise in moving the items, their friendly and reassuring attitude alleviated most of my stress on the day of the move. Thank you, Tender Touch. I will recommend this service to anyone else I know who has a move coming up.

Move

It's not very often you have a pleasant experience with movers and moving companies. Tender Touch were fantastic from day one with the quote to the day of the move. They were extremely polite and courteous, careful with everything they lifted, and wrapping anyting that could be damange - perhaps a little excessively! Ali, Douglas, and Gary were a huge help to getting us settled into our new home. I'd recommend them and Tender Touch moving to anyone. Cost and timing were probably the most competitive of everyone we called.

Our staff our trained, trained and trained every piece of furniture gets wrapped unless the client advises otherwise, this is what makes our system work. It's consistency. Our crews are trained a certain way, follow a system that brings in great results with clients like yourself, this gives the movers tremendous amount of pride in their job performance and customer service skills.

Without great clients like yourself and your referrals we wouldn't be
where we are at today, so once again thanks to you and all our past and future clients we couldn’t do it without your support.

Moving into my new home

I originally moved out of my condo and into storage. It didn't go well. I hired Tender Touches to move me out of storage and into my new home.

They were friendly and exceptionally professional. Dwight was incredible. Everything was well protected, they seem to be taking there time but still moved me in faster than the previous company. I was expecting the move to take longer (one floor condo versus three story heritage home).

Derrick pointed out that with the narrow stairs their might be some damage but they would try their best to keep it to a minimum. Total damage: 3 scuff marks which we fixed with a little touch up paint.

The most amazing parts were the large six drawer dresser (particle board with veneer) that weighed 300 lbs. Brought it up to the third floor without a single ding, scratch or scuff on it or the walls, ceiling, stairs, banisters, etc. plus the queen size bed frame with steel frame and hideaway storage compartment. Derrick utilized his hoisting expertise to bring it up the front of the house and through the second story balcony.

Without question the ONLY company I will hire to move my home is Tender Touches Moving. They worked harder, took less time, made me feel totally at ease and for 2/3rd what other world recognized moving companies would charge. A total win-win-win situation.

Thank you very much for your feedback Darrell.

Nice to hear the crew acted to advise you in advance of the possible consequences with tight access this is all part of our training program at Tender Touch. The crews are also trained on how to professionally deal with these situations to maneuver as safely as possible or using alternative techniques to get around the obstacle like hoisting.

Congratulations on your new home. We are looking forward to your next move.

Movers

This is the second time in five years that we have used Tender Touch moving. They pack everything so that it is extremely well protected. They are efficient. Took two very small breaks but that was it. They had some difficulty getting our fridge into the new house, but kept thinking about it while they worked, and eventually they did find a way to get it into the house. You should definetly consider using Tender Touch Movers for your next move!
