Having found some great reviews on Homestars, I gave Mark a call to come and take a look at our backyard and give us some ideas about what we could do to fix it up. Mark was mindful of costs and made some excellent suggestions about reusing some existing patio stones (simply flipping them over) alternatives and keeping some existing plants, etc. The end result was much better than I envisaged and I was more than happy with the end result. Mark was fast and clean and seems to take great pride with his work. The backyard looks wonderful now with two separate levels, flagstones, and a fire pit. Good job!

We contacted Oborne Contracting last November to get an estimate for finishing the basement which would include a bathroom, laundry room, bedroom, and utility room. We’d never hired a contractor but had heard a number of horror stories about jobs being left unfinished, over budget, and with little concern for the homeowner. The fact that John showed up right on time, was polite, and was able to understand exactly what we wanted to achieve, gave us a great feeling and first impression of what we could expect. We received the estimate which we were happy with; not the cheapest nor the most expensive. Work was started more or less immediately from the day we approved the layout drawings that were done at no charge. We were working with a tight space as we didn’t want to touch half the basement which was already finished. I was impressed with their ideas and the utilization of what space we did have. What impressed me more was the time they took to prep our house so as to minimize the disturbance to the rest of the house. It’s open concept and there is no door to the basement. It’s not easy to live through a reno when concrete is being broken, drywall sanding, etc. but they did everything I imagine to lessen the impact on us. Dean and Colin were extremely polite and courteous throughout the project and addressed everything we expressed concern about immediately. There were some unexpected costs during the project i.e. replacement of a new furnace, hot water tank, etc. which John was able to source for us, passing along any trade discounts he received. The quality of work was as I would expect (again, I’ve little to compare it to but I do have high expectations) but what impressed me the most was the courteous nature of Oborne Contracting. We had thrown out a number of boxes, storage units, etc. which we were quoted $300 for a junk removal company to take away. John took it away without us knowing or asking which showed that they really care about lasting impressions. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Oborne Contracting and using them again in the future. If you’re looking for a company that you won’t feel you’re being taken to the cleaners with, who are mindful and respectful, and who demonstrate a high quality of work, then you can’t go wrong with them.

It's not very often you have a pleasant experience with movers and moving companies. Tender Touch were fantastic from day one with the quote to the day of the move. They were extremely polite and courteous, careful with everything they lifted, and wrapping anyting that could be damange - perhaps a little excessively! Ali, Douglas, and Gary were a huge help to getting us settled into our new home. I'd recommend them and Tender Touch moving to anyone. Cost and timing were probably the most competitive of everyone we called.

Four days before our moving day, I decide to start contacting painters. Yes, I leave things to the last minute! Kris was the only one that would commit to the job and promised to have it done before our moving day. The house, with the exception of the basement, needed to be painted and holes left in the walls from pictures, etc. to be patched. Kris and Peter did a phenomenal job that far exceeded our expectations. They were fast, clean, and got the job done with a day to spare! I would recommend Kris and his team to anyone. We’ll definitely have them back once our basement renovations are complete. Price and quality surpassed painters previously used.

Moving into a new house, there were a few surprises on the carpets after the previous owners moved their furniture out. Thinking the cost for cleaning was going to be high; I called around for a few quotes. Ty was the only one to promptly call me back and meet my 2 day deadline before the movers were to deliver our stuff. We needed the second floor including den and master bedroom and third floor carpets cleaned. Down to every-day wear, the carpets were stained and marked. Ty lectured me on how good the quality of our carpets were and made me promise to take care of them in the future! His work was exceptional, bringing the carpets to the colour I am sure they were when purchased. All the stains were removed and deoderized. Ty did a great job, was fast, professional, and his price couldn't be beat. No quesiton, we'll have him back to do the basement and recommend to our friends and neighbours.
