Melody Homes

We live in Woodbridge Station in Thornton, CO. Our house was built in 1997. A few years ago our entire neighborhood was told that there was a recall on the siding used on our homes. After they inspected our home, we did receive a check for the siding on the north side of our home. We eventually had the siding replaced and to our surprise, the house had no plywood on the exterior, just the black insulation board (that you can easily poke a screwdriver through) and was not bagged at all. Our neighbors have had similar issues. Even if they contracted the work out, they should be supervising and inspecting work. Terrible, cheap workmanship.

Our first Home brand new 6 year in a.c. broke roof leakin. The window need to be replaced and the patio door sweats so bad water pools in front of it . Front door was so badly hung that I could see light through the pit side of it letting air in already replaced hot water tank. I had to fix it all my self no one would even answer phone no one cared both my neighbors have the same problems

After purchasing our brand new home, we are suppose to be enjoying it, not spending our hard earned money fixing it. After the first 30 days was filed, we waited and waited for them to finish and do repairs. When the first winter arrives our upstairs rooms were freezing cold our daughter wont sleep in her room, we called, and there response was her room is at the front of the house, after many calls and dealing with Tarion no resolution we hired some one who took apart the garage to discover that there was barely on insulation and that the vapor barrier was not sealed, what a joke. after having that issued solved, everything seemed fine until one windy day, we discovered that air was flowing under the baseboards, again nothing sealed, now we have windows that are installed incorrectly and is creating ice in her room, and guess what they are not covered under warrenty why you ask, Mason supplied the windows but did install them so it voids the warranty and those are just the problem in 1 room. Our main entrance the tile was constantly cracking, and after their several attempts to fix it, we ripped it all out to discover that the sub floor had a HOLE in it, no wonder the tile/grout was cracking. in our living room we upgraded to better carpet what a joke safe your money also the subfloor in our living room was rotting due to water damage during building so we had to fix that aswell. Our powder room toilet never flushed properly from day one, they tried to tell us that this was normal it was a low flush, not the case brought in the professionals it was a faulty toilet. Our kitchen tile and grout also crack, oh and did i mention they installed the wrong tile and then refused to change it. now on to out basement, we have outside air coming in creating frost on our ceiling, and their response, that can happen when the house is breathing, what a joke, and again brought in the professionals and they are fixing it.
I would like everyone to know that we have personally paid for all the repairs to our new home, never once has Melody homes ever acknowledged that they made a mistake and helped fix it.
If you want a new home, please do your self and your families stay away from melody, they talk a good game, but once they have your money you will never see them again. you might get great square footage for your money, but you will spend it in repairs.

So my wife and I purchased our first house in June 2010, and we were so happy about everything, until the first 30 Tarion form had to be submitted. Now first off, I have to say that Susan in the Peterborough office was awesome! Answered all our questions quickly as this was our first home buying experience. She told us what we had to do, step by step. We of course had many questions, and she answered them within the hour of us sending an email. We got a great deal on the house, as we finished it ourselves, something I would recommend anyone buying a builder house to do - save money and its done right the way you want it done.
Now, on to the post sale part. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Any warranty items took forever to fix, and it took me calling weekly before it would get done. We took possession in June, end of October is when our yard was sodded….Called every week, was told "oh we have to wait until the sod is ready" I just submitted my 1 year form at the end of May, with 2 large items. Driveway needed to be graded as it sloped towards the garage and water pooled, freezing the garage door to the ground in the winter. Also the flat roof over the front door pooled water against the house. Both items were just fixed this week ( November 14th 2011 ) all because Tarion was going to come do an inspection and Melody would have been charged. When they came to fix the last set of deficiencies, Melody Homes' handy guy asked how things were when I went to talk to him, and I said " I am beyond frustrated, I cannot wait until my 2 years is up and I NEVER have to deal with you people again" Gary understood how frustrated I was, and apologized and stated that I was not the only one complaining. If they know that everyone complains…..do something about it!!!! I am usually a very easy going person, but Melody Homes has brought out the worst of me.
Anyways, thats enough from me, I highly recommend staying far away from this builder. Anyone who is considering buying from this builder, call me and I will change your mind. 705-559-4551. I will give you my honest opinion.

OK-I read the bad reviews on this site before I bought my melody home and I figured the complaints were from people who just like to complain. We are an easy going couple and are aware that we were buying a house for a fairly low price. Well did we get a dose of reality!!! the builders are all talk no action and do a very good job of acting like decent human beings until after you give them your money. I am so creeped out when I see the builder driving through the neighbor hood. Today I found a part of the house that is missing a brick! the solution they came up with was not to put in another brick but to paste mortar over half the hole?!!. You will be told that things will be getting done today, tomorrow, and you will never get a call back. When they do show up to do repairs, they do them badly to discourage you from calling again. These houses are slapped together-I mean it! If these are the only houses you can afford it is worth the wait to save for a little longer and go with a better builder-2 days after we moved in 5 seperate couples on my street made a point to introduce themselves to compare horror stories . My neighbor(who has since sold her house)beside me told me she cried all the time about the state of her home. That made me feel lucky about the state of our house(but keep in mind it is no palace I am in). The worst part is that many of the people who bought the homes new have moved out of these homes and now rent them out instead, so I thought we were moving into a new neighborhood with other home owners but these people are just trashy renters that take no pride in the property....take a drive through it and you will see for yourself. Such a HUGE disappointment because from first glance the neighborhood could have had potential if the builder gave half a damn. This builder hires the crappiest trades and pays them nothing so there is no motivation to do a half decent job. We will be selling our house in the spring. I thought I would be home forever in this house.Do your research- And dont be so naive when talking to the builder-they will just tell you want you want to here and play the game with you until they get your money. Use your head and not your heart, because they dont give a crap about you or your family. buyer beware bigtime.

Everyone should come to Peterborough to see the absolute butcher jobs being done here. If you are considering buying a melody home >>> RUN>

We moved into what we thought would be our forever house now we can't wait to list it as have the subdivision has done and leave.

We have purchased new house from Meldoy homes and it our first experience buying new house. We were very nervous in the begining but after the closing once we move in the house was not fully complete but we were assured that all will be taken care of within weeks. So far we are satified with professional service of builder and will followup with another review after 8 weeks.

We were so pleased to be buying a new home. We had walked the neighbourhood a thousand times and fell in love with the homes from the outside....then.....we bought one. from the get go the owner and site people from Melody homes were difficult to deal with. They will l.i.e to your face and make empty promises. We have been in our new home for over 4 months now and are still waiting on things that were promised to us (and we paid for!). Our grout is cracking, our carpets are poorly laid. when we moved in the house was filthy. We we did our pdi the owner tried to talk us out of writing things down "hed have it fixed tomorrow" THANK GOD we didnt listen. We have watched their workers install things over 3 times incorrectly, my husband (who is not an expert) had to show them how to do it. They messed up our kitchen layout twice and the third time we finally said forget ie, leave it. Its so sad, because we have a great family and were so looking forward to moving here. I hope you dont have you heart set on a Melody home....go elsewhere and spend a bit more. In the long run you will be so happy you did.

melody home sucks, i would sudgest never ever buy their houses.. once they cell the house to you they do not take any kind of responsiblity.. our grading was not done properly they did not leval the land properly and put the grass on it it looks soo bad it looks like a big mountain in my front and back yard.. washrooms blocked and they do not want to send any plumber to fix that too.. flush has been constantly running since 6 months.. told the 6 months ago still not fixed.. when we moved in the house was soo dirty we told them to clean properly and they refused to do so.. never ever buy melody homes houses..

We are the second home owner. The house was 2 years old plus a few months when we bought it so the warranty was finished. One of the main stacks was leaking raw sewage. The cupboards are falling apart. There are major cracks in the foundation. Many cement porches are falling apart. When Melody was asked to fix this they claim people have hit them with vehicles. Many of the houses have shingles blowing off them. When Melody was asked to fix this, they wait until the warranty runs out. None of the vent covers on any house close. When Melody was asked to fix this, A guy showed up with a ladder and a broom and pushed the vent covers close. This fix lasted until the first wind. The open vent covers have caused peoples microwaves to freeze, and give birds a nice place to nest. All the chaulking in the house is peeling off. Nobody cleaned the floors before laying the carpet, so there is lots of garbage under the carpet. Tiles are cracking. The windows are leaking and you get frost build up in the winter. The garage ceiling was not insulated, and caused the room above to be freezing. We had the electrical panel upgraded to 200 amps. The electrician said he had never seen such a cheap job in his 40 years as an electrician. Neighbours have complained that their house shakes in the wind. The roads are still not paved after 5 years, or have the put grass on the boulavards. I cut the grass beside the walk way, and have to snow blow it, because Melody refuses to do it. We are still an unassumed sub-division, and Melody is responible to do this until the city takes over. The city does not take over until Melody finishes the job. Did I mention this sub-divSion has been finished for 5 years. I am sure there are many more things that I fixed and just forgot about. IF YOU BUY A MELODY HOME EXPECT TO HAVE A BRAND NEW FIXER UPPER ON YOUR HANDS. THESE HOUSES ARE NOT BUILT TO LAST, FIND ANOTHER BUILDER.
