Broken drain pipe - kitchen sink

These guys were fantastic. Pretty straight-ahead job but the service contractor was great. Prompt, fast, clean and took the time to take a quick peek at diagnosing another issue that was not part of the original service call.

Second issue was a bit more serious (leak coming from upstairs bathtub) and needed to be booked as a separate call but once again, Drainworks came through. With it, it turned out to be a small hole in the grout that the water was getting thru. Problem had been plaguing us for quite some time so it was great that they were as thorough as they were and in the end, correct in their assessment.

Oh, and did I mention that we found them on Homestars to begin with? Highly recommended.

replace clay sewage pipes

We had a blocked floor drain over the holidays. We were a bit dismayed as we'd had drain work done in 2004 by another company. However, the previous job only replaced a bit of clay pipe and now 8 years later we had the adjacent area blocked with tree roots again. What was worse is that it was near our newly renovated basement bathroom that I'd spent alot to have done 2 years ago... so I was pleased that drainworks dug holes on either side of the new bathroom and replaced the clay sewage pipe by tunnelling underneath and not damaging my new bathroom. I found the job expensive, but I have no real comparator as to whether I paid too much, but extrapolating from 8 years ago when i paid 3,000 to another company for a very small segment fixed, I decided the price was fair. We needed to get this done fast, as other renovations had been booked. They worked straight through for 4 days including all day Sat/Sun with a team of 4 and completed the inside work in the first 2 days. They left the work area very clean and did their best to restore our lawn after the outside excavating, so it will look ok until we reseed in spring. All in all they were a polite and efficient and highly professional team and I would use them again.

Basement drain sewage backup

We had flooding through our basement drain over the holidays. Searched online for various plumbers and found Drainworks. There were already lots of positive reviews so I decided to call them up. They sent Matt over to investigate and resolve. He was punctual, professional, and a very good communicator in my opinion. He took his time to diagnose the problem and looked for the root cause rather than just an easy fix. He took the time to explain his actions and walk us through his logic. In the end, he was able to provide a written report with diagnosis and recommendation. Most importantly, he did not perform and charge us for services that were not needed for our situation. Drainworks definitely exceeded my expectations.

Tree roots in floor drain

THANK YOU (again) DRAINWORKS! This is the second time we have called Drainworks this year (2 separate issues) and both times we received fast, efficient and friendly service. The first time they were the first (and may I add ONLY) company to return our call after hours on a weekend and Matt was sent to our home that evening, he was very patient and informative with all of our questions. We were given estimates on the phone and Matt provided clear choices with accurate quotes before he started any work. We live in the beaches so tree roots are a given but this time around Matt helped us understand what was happening and made it clear what could be done. We chose NOT to have the drains inspected with a camera as we KNEW the roots were the issue, and we are planning on lowering the basement in the near future. Replacing the small portion of clay pipes left under our house would be too costly if we are simply doing it again when we renovate. Hopefully when renovating we will be able to use Drainworks again as I would not hesitate to call them again or recommend them to anyone. (Love the little red booties!;)

Leak Investigation

I had used Drainworks before and work performed was satisfactory. This time will be the last time i use them!

We had found a leak in the house and a Drainwork's plumber was sent to investigate. Things started out okay and walls were being opened to investigate. Problems started when it became apparent the plumber had no methodical approach to finding the leak and was just going from theory to theory to theory with no logical flow. I basically started spending all my time with him trying to guide his logic and i am not a plumber but often I had the better ideas. After 4 hours and 3 holes in the walls on two floors of the house the plumber still hadn't figured it out and frankly was now completely confused as to what to do next. I suggested he just leave it and i would monitor. I should also mention that one of his theories was just plan illogical and as he explained it to me and i stated it made no sense he agreed with me that it didn't. So i decide to call Drainworks and complain about the person sent. They just stood by him and explained that since i signed off on the work they would absolutely do nothing for me. Any company can offer a credit and they absolutely would not. They stood by this plumber no matter how silly his theories were. They didn't care. Bottom line is if you use these guys - refuse to sign anything. They do not stand by their people or work. Will never use them again.

UPDATE BASED ON DRAINWORKS RESPONSE:

Your plumber was at my house for 4.5 hours not 5. He offered to charge for only 4 as he did not find the issue. In fact he was a very nice man and i have no issue with him personally. I do have issue with his ability to troubleshoot a leak. So yes, I did have him continue as anyone would with a leak...you want it found and fixed! I tried helping him find it since he seemed to have no good plan to find it. I wanted it found and fixed and spent a lot of my time helping him figure out what to do next. I was just hoping to get to the source of the issue. I gave up when it become apparent that he had no idea what further to do. I assumed he was skilled enough that if he found it, he could fix it.

Here is the real test of the skill of the people you send. And i explained this to you on the phone and you found it acceptable. He shows me that the water is on the pipe where it is actually a vent and no water flows through. His theory is that the water is getting blocked from flowing down so is backing up into what should be the dry part of the pipe and then leaking out of some cracked part. Only problem is that if this were true then the sinks would also backup or drain slowly. Which they definitely weren't doing. This was brought to his attention BY ME. I am not a licensed plumber but could easily understand this theory of his made no sense. He agreed when i challenged him. As we discussed on the phone i understand that you feel this is acceptable and you stand by your plumber. If this is the quality of troubleshooting you stand by then fine, as i said, i will NEVER use your company again. If you offered to properly discount the work realizing the plumber wasted time with silly theories and was not capable of a proper methodical approach to finding the leak that anyone would expect then that is how you want to represent your company. Fine. Your choice. People considering you should know.

Stephen. Feedback is always appreciated, and we welcome this opportunity to respond. When you called our office you indicated that there was a mysterious leak, which you had not been able to locate the source of, even after opening some drywall yourself. Our offer was to send a plumber to your home to continue investigating, hour by hour, with no guarantee that the source of the mysterious leak would be located, nor how much time would be required to complete said investigation; you agreed to book this appointment. The plumber was at your home for 5 hours (as evidenced by our G.P.S tracking system and records), and before beginning each hour, looked to you for authorization, to be transparent about the charges you were incurring, and repeatedly you voiced your authorization for him to continue. You made no claims to the plumber, while he was onsite, that you were unhappy with his services; in fact your actions point in the opposite direction. Logically, it doesn’t make sense that someone who is unhappy with services being rendered would continue to proceed with them. You had the power to end the investigation at any time, and at multiple times throughout the service, but you did not. Your request for a credit is puzzling because we followed through exactly as we said we would when the call was booked, with no guarantees, and we proceeded, with your approval, for only as long as you requested. You made the choice to purchase 5 hours of service, only 4 of which you were charged for, and those services cannot be returned. We find it baffling, that if you were so unimpressed with our plumber and what you deemed to be his lack of skill and direction, why you would keep him working at your home. If that was how you felt, why not end the assessment after 15 minutes? After 1 hour? After 2 hours? We keep our customer fully informed, every step of the way, because DrainWorks strives to provide top notch customer that is transparent with no surprises

bathroom sink not draining

I will start with my phone call. I left a message at DrainWorks, and with in 10 min. William returned my call, he took my information and asked about the issue that I was having. Being that it was a Saturday, I figured that I would not get the service for this day. William informed me that there would be a technician there between 11am and 3pm and that he would call a half hour prior. I received a call from William at 1115am, he informed me that the tech would be there in about 30-40 minutes. Sure enough, 1145am, the tech, Matt Achcinski, was ringing my door bell. Matt was very polite with his introduction and was well identified. Before he came into the living room he put on a pair of red booties over his shoes. I took Matt to my issue in the upstairs bathroom . He asked me questions about the toilet draining and the shower draining as he was trouble shooting and norrowing down to the blockage. Matt started work at the bathroom sink, as he was working, we got into a conversation about plumbing. Matt was very professional/knowlegable, and had given me the information to which I asked. My wife and I are thinking on putting a bathroom in the basement. Matt took the time to look at where I was planning to install this bathroom. Matt inform me on my options on which way I could perform this project. I asked if Drainworks perform the rough in? I was given a ballpark dollar figure....DrianWorks, WILL be returning to my home. Thank you, William and Matt.
