I called and got ahold of Joe who came about a week after calling. He saw the problem and told me he’d order the part. I’ve since then tried to call him 4 times now in 2 weeks as I have no working washer and no one has called me back. There is no manager or supervisor to speak to and I’m very frustrated with the terrible service that I have received. Now I am left to look elsewhere while struggling without a washer.

Joe has been servicing my household appliances since I was a toddler in Scarborough. Mom used him all the time, on the recommendation of the rest of the family...our whole family used Joe. Mom was a single mom back then, and dollars had to stretch. Joe always gave a fair price and did great work. Now that I live in Ajax, he is still my #1 goto for repairs on appliances.

Joe is a pleasure to deal with. He is a well dressed gentleman. He takes his shoes off when he enters the house. Called him around 5 in the evening about a fridge problem. We scheduled a meeting for the next day. Joe diagnosed the problem (replaced a faulty compressor) and it was fixed by the evening the following day.

The next morning I have a working fridge again. It is more quiet and cold again. What more can you ask for?

P.s. If you offer Joe a ginger ale, He gives better rates.

We called Control Appliance based upon the excellent HomeStars reviews we had seen. We had a Beverage Air BB72 Bar Fridge that needed repair, so not your run of the mill project. We called for an appointment late in the afternoon and Joe came out first thing the following day. He diagnosed the issue right away, made the repairs (including some improvements to ensure the problem didn't happen again) and charged up our system and had it running after a couple of hours work. Everything that has been said about Joe on this site is absolutely true! He was pleasant, knowledgeable and you simply knew that this was a professional that you could trust. We would not hesitate to recommend Joe and Control Appliance to anyone who needs an appliance repair.

Joe is GREAT. I called him after Homestars reviews and am so glad that I did. We spoke several times on the phone so I could solve the problem and save myself money. But when he finally did come out, he made SURE to get me the right part and came twice. Compared to all the work he did for me, the price was fantastic. I felt he was more than worth it AND he told me that he goes for training every March. I love that. Kudos to Joe for staying on top of his stuff, it really shows!! I will definitely call him again and recommend him.

Thanks to Homestars I found Joe of Control Appliance Service. On a recent Friday night, my oven's bake element wasn't heating properly. I thought of buying a new element, but was intimidated by removal and installation instructions that I read on the internet. On Saturday morning I read reviews on Homestars and decided on Control Appliance. I phoned the company and left a message about my oven's problem. Shortly after Joe called and said he would be by in a few hours, and would call when he was on his way. Within a few hours, he called and arrived shortly after. Joe was in my home for only about 30 minutes -- quickly and efficiently diagnosing my oven's problem. (The clock wasn't working properly, which apparently affects the oven heat.) Joe replaced the clock with a new one that he had on his truck and gave me a 1-year written warranty on parts and labour; (Total cost ($226) was $120 parts; $80 labour; $26 HST.) If I had bought the clock at a store (for at least $120), there would have been only a 3-month parts warranty and I would have had to install it myself (LOL). Joe was so polite and tidy and my oven is working perfectly. I highly recommend Joe and his company.

This man is golden. He saved our 6 year old fridge when the compressor died and a previous repairman had tried putting in a relay that faultered. When you can find a tradesperson, who comes when he says he will,(on a Saturday after a Friday evening phone call), is knowledgable and incredibly professional and reasonable, you treasure him.

JOE IS SUCH A GENTLEMAN, and we are very greatful. We will definitely refer friends and family and use his fabulous service again, when needed.

Before calling this company I read the reviews here in HomeStars. At first I thought that some details were exaggerated. But when I met Joe, I can tell you that all the reviews here are accurate.

I remembered Joe had fixed a couple appliances for me in the past and called him to see if he can fix my relatively new built in oven.
He called me back within 30 mins and came out to my house on the same day! The actual manufacturer's service company had given me an appointment for a week later and also said I would have to be there during a weekday before 4.00pm- which for the average working person simply does not work. Joe showed up at a time that was convenient for me - after work, and fixed the problem in a time that exceeded my expectations. No waiting for hours and hours for a service person to show up. He is extremely prompt! Aside from the fact that Joe is clearly an expert at his job, he goes far beyond that technical knowledge and delivers where it most matters..TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE . ..I hope this man never retires!!! THANK YOU JOE FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!
