We had a wooden shed in our yard that was starting to show it's age. We originally planned to purchase a man-made shed that would not require upkeep. Normally I go to Home Stars for recommendations, but I found the website for In the Backyard by chance and it was "Brian Baumler approved."The pictures on their web site convinced us to go with a wooden shed again. I asked for a quote and Peter responded quickly. I sent him photos of the shed that was being replaced, as we asked for the old shed removal to be included in the price, as we are seniors and we also do not have the proper tools.
The install date was delayed due to circumstances beyond Peter's control, but he kept us in the loop and the product was delivered the week before the installation by the installation team. These young men looked at the old shed and they presumed there would be no issues. However, when the old shed was removed they found holes from animals in the space where the previous shed had been and concrete from a previous sidewalk installation. Leveling for the new shed is apparently not part of the installation process, so the installers asked my husband for his input. As a result the shed was installed on the edging stones of our new brick patio and there
were large gaps under all sides of the shed.
I emailed Peter as soon as I saw how it looked and sent him pictures. I explained that we needed to have it off of the bricking and asked what we could do. He responded promptly the next day. He agreed that he and his foreman Rob would be able to rectify the situation as the shed only had to be moved a few inches and he arranged to come to Mississauga with the equipment needed to fix the job. Thanks to Peter and Rob's expertise they were able to move the shed and then make adjustments so that the doors fit properly.
I would recommend this company to install a shed, but be aware that leveling is not part of the installation process, so this is something the homeowner would need to do beforehand, if needed. The shed comes primed for painting and we have now completed one coat of paint. The shed we chose has a small window, with a screen, to the left of the double doors and a vent on one side of the shed just under the roof line. The top half of the double doors have windows so there is lots of natural light. We opted to add solar lights on each side of the door and they complete the look beautifully.
