Our driveway was crackled and weedy and we may be selling in the future so we came to Homestars. Stay Dry replied to our service request and in my conversation with Stefano, it arose that they do foundations and window wells also. It made sense to have the window well done at the same time as the driveway, since it's the same worksite anyway and saved having to find a separate company to handle it. The window well got done first. Had a few hiccups but nothing beyond the usual for these kinds of projects. (Oops, the dirt collapsed and oh, right, there's a gas line here to deal with...) Everything was done quickly and looks great. The driveway was done about a week later and they did a very good and quick job. It snowed over night, unfortunately, but they were there bright and early the next day to get it wrapped up before the weather could get any worse on us. My neighbor's driveway was largely unaffected and everything else went smoothly. I've got some work on my front porch I'll be contacting them about in the spring.

We had plans with family over the long weekend but the freezer make some ominous noises and stopped working. I did some looking online for someone who could come out on a holiday and found Yevhen's page on Homestars. He agreed to come out. He was here within the timeframe he provided and quickly had the problem worked out and on the way to being resolved. All is done now and we're set! Thank you again!

We started having trouble with some of our outlets and then it seemed like having the breaker for the dishwasher on turned the lights on the first floor off. Really weird. We called Peel Electrical and Jafar and Samee came that evening. They tested all our outlets looking for the problem. They were friendly and helpful the whole time and explained carefully what they were doing. It eventually worked out to a rusted out circuit. They moved things on the circuit board and got it all sorted out. Samee had to come back the next day to get it all done and he came promptly. It turned out to be a bit of a blessing in disguise because we had some worries about the aluminum wiring but they told is it had all been properly pigtailed. Great work, great guys, would hire again!

We put down a new floor in the bathroom and when the toilet was re-installed, there was a pipe that was leaking. Thankfully it was not a huge leak but it was still a concern. CONS: Seems expensive. Almost $400 for a plastic part and 30 minutes of work? Well, and also the know-how, I get that. But I'm thinking I joined the wrong profession! PROS: I called on Monday morning around 9:30 and they were able to schedule someone between 10 and 12. He arrived around 10 and was very friendly and helpful and took care of things quickly. Nice dry floor!

Our A/C unit had been struggling to keep up and then gave up the ghost. I looked on Homestars and found Spring Home had a good rating and lots of reviews so gave them a call. They sent someone out the same day. Josh got the old unit working again but it sounded ill and gave up again before he'd even finished packing up so he changed the work order from a repair to a diagnostic and said home office would call to arrange for further repairs. The fan motor had gone, is what I believe he said. He turned the old unit completely off for our safety, which I appreciated. Tuesday they came to fix it and found there were more parts that needed work. At this point, it was going to cost in the 2k range just to repair the unit (which is infuriating because it was only 5 years old) and the warranties were all expired anyway. So we ended up going with a whole new unit. Originally we were going to have to wait a week but they put us on a wait list in case of cancellations. They called the next day to say they'd had a cancellation and would we be home that day? It was 30 degrees IN THE HOUSE and we'd been camping in the basement for days - we said for them, we'd BE home. They came in the afternoon and despite some rainshowers, got everything hooked up and running. Within a few hours the temperature and humidity in the house and dropped to bearable levels. By morning it was perfect! Thanks to Josh, Bijan and the team!

We purchased a hot tub at the Toronto Home Show. We were impressed at the service they offered, including the spa school, and that they are located very nearby. (Sadly they only have the spa school on Sundays, which we could not do, but they gave us a rundown on the same information and a packet to take with us.) Unfortunately, there was a mix up and the tub that was delivered was not the model we had ordered. They were very apologetic and Mike was up-front about remembering our visit with them at the Home Show and that we had wanted this specific model - but the wrong one had gotten written into the contract. Together with Laura at the head office they went above and beyond in getting it set right. We'd have to wait about six weeks for the right one to arrive from the factory but in the meantime, they offered to let us keep the first model and even use it. We've just made the switch. In both deliveries the men were quick, efficient and, despite the size of these things, brought them in and out with ease. We are quite pleased with the new model - we are not a tall family and we find this configuration suits us much better. Also we find the placement of the cover is a HUGE improvement. In the previous model, the cover covered the control panel when it was open. We couldn't see what temperature it was, which was very important as I'm expecting and our young daughter LOVES to play in the water too. Also the placement of the handles on the new cover makes much better use of physics and makes it far easier to open. So though there was a bit of a snafu, through their excellent service all has worked out well.

The Salesman really impressed me; he came to the house, he took his own measurements, he brought actual samples (the only one to do so!) and explained things very clearly. Unfortunately, he passed away before we'd made our decision. We were impressed by his replacement, who said they'd worked together for a long time and that he was taking the commission with the intention of sharing it with the first man's widow. Everything went smoothly from then on; the workers who actually replaced the windows did so much more quickly than I would have believed and left very little mess. They did a good job of cleaning up behind themselves and caused no damage, even though some of the spaces were a little awkward. The windows have been great and we get much better airflow and light on the first floor than we did before. I love my awning-style kitchen window that lets in air but not rain.
