Ordered

I ordered from NORDIK Windows and Doors , front door replacement of my house including top window with arch. The sales man (Cris Thorne) was very anxious to get deal done and he was after me for couple of days while we were checking other companies. I singed the contract in October 2020 and I was promised that the product is made in Canada including manufacturing is done here in Ontario and the replacement will be done in Early sprint of 2021 the latest.
There was only one email I received in Feb explaining that things are late due to COVID019 and will be provided updates soon. No news after that and I started chasing Cris by texting it. Finally, I got call from Nordik office on May 21 that still things are late and will be provided update soon. On June 02, 2021 I got call again (Annette) that my front door top window will be replaced on Jun 24. I asked that it cannot be done as Window and Door has to be replaced at the same time as the current door is smaller and window is taller and new installation, the door will be taller and window will be smaller (Difference in sizes). I text again to Cris and asked him that there is issue on office side they are not aware of the fact that the installation has to be done for both (window and Door) as the same time. Cris promised that he sorted out everything and installation will be done at the same time he emailed details to Annette). Finally, on June 22, I got email confirmation that the installation will be done June 24.
Today, June 24, we followed the instructions early in the morning to move stuff around, removed the bell button from the front door’s frame, removed the safety lock from inside the front door, covered up all furniture and closed living and drawing rooms with plastic so, during replacement the dirt and dust should not get on the furniture. We were waiting for the installation crew, suddenly, I receive email from Annette) in response of my old email and she was asking my name, address and phone number to check the installation information. I replied with the information and said that we are waiting for installation crew as the installation is being done today. Annette, calls me at 8:45am that today only window will be installed and the door will be in next week. I was very upset and asked her to explain me how installation will be done while coming window is smaller than the current one? Will she be able to send some curtain to put on to fill the gap till next week? She innocently tries to ask me if it is that the case, the window cannot be installed alone first?
I am very update with this company:
1. Not meeting their schedule and hard to communication
2. No one knows who is in charge and what to do there
3. I am suspecting I was given incorrect information; they are bringing everything from China and it is not made in Canada product and they do not make things here in Canada
4. I hope they will compensate for their mistake and reduce the price of the door and window considerably by causing time waist and causing us to all preparation and wait for another week or God knows when they will be ready if they will be
5. I will not recommend anyone to go through the same what we have been now for almost 6 month….. Again not MADE IN CANADA

Windows and slider

We had a great experience with Nordik starting with salesman Kevin Rowan who is knowledgeable and friendly, very easy to deal with.
Nordik head office staff kept in touch by email and then with phone calls to schedule the installation.
The windows were manufactured and ready for install approximately 2 weeks ahead of the lead time quoted (approx. 20 weeks).
The team of two men installing our new windows had obviously worked together before as they were like a well-oiled machine, one on the outside and one inside. The fit and finish is excellent, nice trim and artistic caulking. Our new Nordik windows are crisp and clean, open easily, and close up nice and snug.
The patio slider was done another day with a different team of two men. They worked carefully to remove the old slider and prepare the opening. The old one was two pieces sitting in a frame, the new one is a complete unit, probably why it's more energy efficient. They were measuring, checking the level, adding a shim or two, checking the level again, etc., very meticulous. Insulate, trim, caulking, great job! Our new patio door slides effortlessly, closes up snugly.
We're glad to have new energy efficient windows manufactured and installed by a local company.

WORST RENOVATION EXPERIENCE EVER

After waiting over 8 months for our new window and door, it was scheduled to be installed in May. The installers arrived and took out the old units and attempted to install the new units. The window wouldn't fit due to overhead stone obstruction so it was tacked into place. There was no finish trim to complete the window or the door. After six weeks of trying to get some sort of satisfaction, I have been left totally frustrated and unable to get a return phone call from anyone in the company after numerous promises which never materialize. They don't seem to have a problem telephoning to collect their money owing which I have refused to pay until this job get's finished. All in all the worst experience I have had as a homeowner. I am still waiting for this job to be completed.....

18 windows

Not impressed. 18 windows. 12 installed. Crew of 2. They had only 2 days scheduled to install. Really, for 18 windows? Gouges in some frames (3 at least.). 1 window doesn't work, it does not open at all. Another 1 window (that would be #13) is measured too big. Missing 6 windows and they called just now to get the final payment of over $12,000. The woman who called argued that they did a "substantial installation of the order". I thought they were calling to schedule another date for the rest of the installation. It is like a mom and pop shop who is hurting for cash... we thought we were dealing with a professional company. The only saving grace so far is the installation team, Scott and Darcy. They are the reason why Nordik is getting the only 2 stars under this review so far.

On top of the 6 windows missing, we are waiting for 1 patio door and 2 entrance doors. That is another $6,600. I understand they are backordered. Not a problem. I am hoping this door order will be a better experience.

I will update as the process goes along.

Update #1
On the day of Nordik asking for payment (June 22) and us refusing, 4 people called trying to sort things out. It is important to note that nobody else has dared asking for payment again so far. That was Tuesday afternoon. The installation for the remaining windows is scheduled for July 14 (first 2 days of installation happened June 17-18). We are now Friday morning (June 25) and a gentleman called Mike has come to inspect all the defects/gouges and such. He will send a request to get service out. Let's see how it will go from here. Mike is also making a new template of the window that can't be fitted because of its size and the brick work on the house. Mike also assured us that he would inspect all the remaining windows himself before the next installation takes place. Maybe Nordik should have quality/control before the products leave the factory. By the looks of things, it doesn't seem that there is such a department.

Technician visit

Daniel was my technician that came out to us to provide quality control inspection of the work that had been done at my home. The crew that originally installed my windows had some challenges and issues that needed to be resolved for my window installation to be up to Nordik standards.
Daniel came out to my home in very short notice and inspected all quality control issues with regards to this installation. I really appreciate his eye for detail and his thoroughness. Daniel put a plan in place tohave everything up to standard in an expedited manner. Once again I am very thrilled with Nordik. This is the second home that I've had windows Purchased from Nordik. Thrilled to say, I am a very happy repeat customer. Thank you Nordik, my technician Daniel and my sales rep Barry

But finally the brothers came and let me tell you they were very professional, on time and did the job right. I was very happy that these two young man where able to do the job and think outside the box and get the job done. I give the installers 5/5.

Appalling Quality of Work & Service. DO NOT HIRE NORDIK.

We hired Nordik to install all new windows for us. They came to install them in April 2021 and did such a horrible job - they even broke one of the windows while installing it - and we’ve been waiting ever since for them to return to complete the job.

An overview of the issues (see photos for more details):
- Bay window in main bedroom: Shims not removed; flashing slopes towards the house; New flashing was installed on top of the old flashing instead of replacing it; plugs to cover screws in the frame do not stay in place; sloppy caulking on exterior; gaps in spray foam around interior; missing trim pieces between centre and sides of bay.
- Bedroom window: The lower portion of the hung window does not stay open when opened.
- Upstairs bathroom window: Poor application of spray foam; gaps can be seen around the window; no spray foam applied from the exterior (the window is sealed with <1/4'' bead of spray foam from the interior only).
- Dining room window: Shims were left in place; frame appears to have been bowed in by application of spray foam.
- Living room window: Visible space between the opening part of the window and the frame on the right hand side when the window is closed; frame appears to have been dropped based on the compression dent on the opposing side of the frame; gaps in exterior caulking.
- Two basement windows: Exterior caulking was applied without cleaning dirt off the window sills therefore the caulk doesn't stick to anything.
- The installers left a lot of garbage behind and attempted to clean their mess up with just a broom (I've never seen contractors show up without a vacuum); many shims left in place; numerous missing trim pieces.

After the installers left, we called them to ask when they were returning to complete the work. They said that they were done and that the job was complete. It's painfully obvious that the work is not complete. A few days after the installers left, a supervisor from Nordik did come out to inspect the work, and agreed that it was subpar and needed correcting and completing. That was early April 2021. Nearly three months later, and they have not returned to complete the work, nor given us a concrete date of completion. Instead, we continue to get the runaround and a story about 'waiting on parts that will be ready in a couple of weeks.'

It’s near impossible to reach someone on the phone and if you do, you’re assured that someone from service will return your call. They don’t. Very tired of the runaround from Nordik and we’re really regretting hiring them. If you’re in the market for new windows/doors, DO NOT HIRE Nordik.
