I had the privilege of working with DWC General Contracting during my kitchen and laundry room restructuring / remodelling. The owner of the company (Donovan) and his designer came out for a consultation to review the job. I was annoyed when they were 20 minutes late as I had a virtual work meeting to attend. During the initial consultation, Donovan provided some great ideas but ideas come with a cost and I was on a budget. My original plan was to change the builder cabinet doors and replace the handles. This plan changed as I started seeing the vision Donovan had for the space. My kitchen is 10ft in height and did not have uppers. I should be ashamed to say that I had no idea what uppers were, but after viewing pictures of Donovans past projects I saw the benefit in filling the unused space. During our second meeting the idea of including a side by side fridge was presented. I did not believe this style of fridge would fit the space I had. Donovan and his designer surprised me with a 3D digital drawing of my kitchen on their iPad. I was blown away with the concept, but still considering the cost of all these changes. In order for the fridge to fit, it would need to be relocated and the laundry room which Im not particularly fond of would also need a face lift. The kitchen drawing also provided changes to my laundry room and butler area. By pushing the laundry room wall back 6inches it would accommodate the side by side fridge with the water line being installed. Losing space was my next question and thats when the butler area idea was introduced. Donovan asked me how much I enjoyed doing laundry and spending time in the laundry room. I must say doing laundry is a chore I can do without. The suggestion of pushing the other wall from the laundry room which backs on to the butler area 16 inches would allow for additional cabinets to be installed. This job was looking extremely expensive but also extremely attractive. My eyes got bigger than my pocket and I told Donovan I was ready to proceed with the work. After years of a global pandemic and working from home, I was in need of an environmental change. The deposit structure was fair and the start date was scheduled three weeks later. My luck there were minor structural changes along the way but Donovan worked with me to keep the cost as low as possible. The water line became an issue as my basement was completed. Donovans team of workers were able to cut specific area of my basement ceiling to account for plumbing and the new gas line for a gas stove I never thought I would want. The job took a little longer than expected but I was extremely happy with the end result. The DWC team were all professional, courtious and friendly towards my daughter who would find herself getting in their way at times. Donovan stated he was a father and understood. When Donovan asked if I would provide a review I gladly accepted. He may have been late the first time, but he ended everything perfectly. Thanks to DWC I have an entire new kitchen, laundry room and butler area. Upon completion of the job Donovan had a team of two staff clean the main floor and basement as a thank you for employing them. Thank you DWC and I look forward to my next project. Hopefully next time youll show up on time the first time.

My husband and I bought our home in August 2023 knowing that we would need to do some major renovations (basement and main floor kitchens, basement washroom, pot lights, and new flooring throughout our main floor). We had so much trepidation about trusting a contractor with our renovations and money. My husband had done minor renovations on our previous home, but this time around we knew that we needed a professional.

We had a tall order to fill because we wanted a contractor that knew what he was doing. We wanted quality of work, reasonable pricing and someone that would not try to take the money and not complete the work. We looked on homestars for reviews and asked on our community Nextdoor app for recommendations. We met with a handful of contractors that made many promises of pricing, time the project would take, some with aggressive approaches to negotiating, some who ignored what we wanted and some that ignored even one of us in the discussion. Then we met Donevan, owner of DWC.

Donevan was very personable. My husband and I both felt very comfortable with choosing DWC to do the renovations. Donevan was upfront with us about what things would cost, timeline from start to finish of the job and he stated that he would not be the cheapest. Not many contractors would be this upfront. For some people this would be where they cross off a contractor, but honestly for what Donevan and his team bring to the table (making sure everything being done is to code, knowledgeable trade team that are hard workers, high level of trust between Donevan, my husband and myself) the cost is reasonable.

During demolition Donevan and his team found that the previous homeowners bewildering DIY eclectic renovations were not to code. The previous homeowners hid all plumbing and structural issues from us and the realtors. These issues cost us extra money to bring things to code and Donevan did not price gauge us for these additional repairs
DWC transformed the eclectic house we bought into a beautiful, functional livable home for us (we have the before and after pictures to prove it) My husband and I are very thankful that we found DWC. Renovations are stressful and especially when you are living in the house while the renovations are happening. Donevan and his team worked with us and around us to get the job done. We will definitely be using DWC for future renovations and we highly recommend Donevan and his team.

I had an issue where I needed supports installed in my basement to fix some sagging in my ground floor. Donovan assessed the situation, coordinated the workers and the job was complete in one day. Very happy with their work and the workers were a pleasure to deal with. A+++

Donavon and his team are very professional. Initially they came to inspect a groute mold on a bathtub but upon inspection it was diagnosed to be a faulty tub. His team did not stop at just replacing the groute but also went above and beyond to redo the entire bathtub + the tiles around it. They also helped to tow the bathtub to the shop for warranty. Highly recommended !!

We needed to have multiple load bearing walls opened, and inspected. Donavon and his team went above and beyond completing the job and assisting my other contractor. The job was done quickly and within my budget.

Donavon and his team went above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we wanted for our backyard remodel. He gave us valuable advice when we weren't sure on certain decisions and built our deck, cabana, built in bbq and gazebo strong enough to outlast our house. All while being budget conscious and saving us money where we could.

I'm bringing him and is amazing team back this summer for some addons we want.

I have used DWC many times over the past 10 years. DWC is by far one of the most professional general contractors I have worked with.

They are clean, organized and the attention to details is always taken care of.

I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a job well done.

The job was over priced, incomplete unprofessional fail to follow-up with customer to address outstanding issues will never be called upon again. Would not be recommend.

As a result of the posted review the company in its wisdom have revisited the job, and have now remedied the situation to our satisfaction.

OMG !! – we just had our 2nd phase completed where the amazing DWC crew completed our living area with an exquisite and custom made fire place, topped with stylish contemporary designs. We will be enjoying our new look this summer and will probably start the 3rd phase at the back end of this year. Thank you so much Donovan and Stacey.

For the last few months we have been contemplating on remodeling our main floor which included removing walls, adding loadbearing beams, new flooring and relocating the HVAC, plumbing and electrical services so that we could make the main area completely open concept.

We selected DWC based on their understanding of our ideas. Throughout our initial consultation, not only did they listen to what we wanted, but DWC made valuable and creative suggestions including dividing the project into 2 phases which would allow us to get the best value and wow factor for our money. This secured our confidence that they fully understood our ideas and concerns.

This was a large project and from the start, they arranged all the architectural drawings, work permits and subcontractors for all the services. As the project progressed, Donovan made us feel at ease and communicated to us every day on what work was involved - The crew were courteous and respectful of our family and at the end of each day, they would carry out a detailed builders clean up - both on the interior and exterior.

During the project, the team came across a number of unexpected surprises which they repaired without delaying the project.

There is a 2nd phase to this large project, so suffice it to say, we will be using Donovan and his team again to complete some of the cosmetics in the main area and update the kitchen.

The first phase of the project finished on time, within budget and today, we now have a modernized open concept, fully functional main area, which by the way looks exquisite. “Oh, we were so right to select DWC” !!
