We recently replaced our furnace and changed our water heater to a tankless one. I was in the midst of signing with another better known company when I received a flyer from Energywise for a promo they had (free tankless heater and thermostat with purchase of new furnace) in Dec at my area in Markham. With lots of hesitations (due to unfavourable stories I've heard from these flyers not specific to them), i called to gather more info.
Anthony Pillay, their sales rep, came by the next day and I informed him upfront to avoid any marketing talk. I only needed the facts and final costs. He was very accommodating and responded to all my queries. He didn't even try to sell me the products by informing me of the cost savings I will get with the new furnace, tankless heater, etc (unlike the sales rep from the other company). His costs were also final (again, unlike the other sales rep whose costs decreased substantially when I informed him about getting quotes from another company). Since i opted to upgrade my furnace and water heater to better brands, i had to shell out $375 which for me is a huge bargain.
Sidenote: I decided to upgrade the water heater after a few days of signing the contract and Anthony Pillay was very gracious to come by my place again to give me the new contract.
For the first year, i opted to rent the furnace to gauge the service of the company. Best part is depreciation for the first year is 20 to 22% (their competitor is only 5%).
Installation day came and the guys who came in were as professional as Anthony Pillay. I was actually glad that they took more than three hours (their initial estimates) to remove and install the units. Minor glitches along the way but overall still great service.
They returned my old water heater to the another company and as expected, the other company gave them so much headaches.
Up till this point, I am extremely satisfied with the services and costs. First time a flyer that works without issues. I will have to see how their maintenance support operates when the time comes. But so far so good.
Note that I am not related to either Anthony Pillay or the installers. This is an unbias review. I wanted to share this with prospective consumers so that they will due their due diligence instead of signing up with the other "known" company who I feel is rigging customers with their higher costs. I actually have a horrible experience with the other company when i tried to cancel my contract with them on maintenance. That warrants a different review when i have the time. The battle is still ongoing.
