I will Give Jel Contracting fair dues and say that our finished basement looks good, however I can't begin to describe how completely frustrating, stressful and infuriating this experience was.
There were numerous problems including: they did not get the proper permits; I had to hassle them to show up when they were expected and they made no effort to solve any small problems when they arose and made me run around to fix everything. Each time there was a problem we mostly got excuses and they were very reticent of taking ownership of their mistakes.
This was not even the worst part; we asked for polished concrete floors in our basement and, clearly having no idea of what they were doing, they purchased TOXIC driveway sealer for outdoor use only and used it in our home. The whole family felt sick and we had to hire another company to come and fix their mistake, which cost us an additional $3000.
I questioned many times whether this was the first job they had ever done and really would have liked to fire them, had it not been so difficult to find someone else.
Not once during all the problems did the owner Jeff come to speak to us, even though his office is walking distance to our home. Yes they have many great reviews on their website and yes when you phone their references they all say wonderful things, however I don't think they will be giving my number out anytime soon so don't assume you are getting a complete picture.
