Stay away from Home Reno Direct

Don't use these guys. They are absolutely terrible. They don't order material when the project starts, resulting in delays and then we needed to select different items due to their negligence. They fired their project manager mid-project and didn't tell us, so we had no communication or activity for weeks.

After the project was complete, we had issues with the counter-top. My wife emailed and called them several times, and even emailed the owner Ramon, and still they didn't respond, despite us having a 2 yr warranty.

I wish I could review the installers who came to the house separately, they did a great job overall, and we were happy with them and the final result, but the people in the office made our kitchen renovation a terrible experience. If 0 stars was an option I'd give that.

The owner is a good talker. "We'll take care of you, I will handle it myself, we will make it right". All just talk. Once you leave the office you'll never hear from him again.

I 100% would never recommend this company to anyone. Find another company unless you want to be frustrated throughout your entire process.

Bathroom redo

After nearly 19 weeks, Home Reno Direct completed the renovation of my ONLY bathroom. From September to completion in early January, out of 89 business days Home Reno Direct worked only 18 full days and 15 partial days (usually a half day or less) in this period of time. That means out of 89 days, no work was done on 56 days. Not only did they not show up, they often did not reply to texts, emails and/or phone calls for days at a time leaving me uncertain if/when work would resume. In November, December and January they only showed up 7 times - 6 of which were partial days. I waited 3 1/2 weeks for them to complete the final two hours work.

On August 10 (before construction began) during a showroom visit to address my questions and concerns, I pointed out inaccuracies with the contract, which were acknowledged, but when I asked for the contract to be rewritten to avoid future misunderstanding, I was refused, ultimately resulting in me having to hire a second contractor to address the significant deficiencies in the final reno.

If you live in a condo I do not recommend this company. My building requires that a contractor sign off on building practices and policies for renovation which Home Reno Direct agreed to in writing and then promptly broke almost every rule. (they didn't remove the dumpster, their clearance certificates from WSIB were expired, they sent different tradespeople than those they provided licenses for, and so on). I recognize that it takes more effort to do a condo project, but they did a home visit so it was not a secret and they should have refused the job if it was that much of a hardship.

The contract states I would have a dedicated project manager. The job is complete and I still do not know who that is. The workers would refer me to the office, the office would tell me to ask the workers.

The contract also states "every aspect of your renovation is done the way you agreed upon" but they altered aspects of the project without my consent or even telling me of the change until the work was complete.

So far, I can't fault the quality of the work - the second contractor thought it looked well constructed but this project took so long, was so stressful and so disruptive (remember, it's my ONLY bathroom) that it has diminished my pleasure in the final product.

Stay away from Home Reno Direct

DO NOT, I REPEAT. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with Home Reno Direct.

They will take your money and use it for previous jobs (that is incomplete and way past the finish date)

He's also using funds for the failing "Renoz" business. He does not pay his employees on time, therefore delaying the project months and YEARS.

We lost more than $100,000 because of Home Reno Direct.

If I can give this a negative rating I would.

Bathroom reno nightmare

The bathroom was a complete redo. The total area is less than 17 x 8 ft Despite the size, it took close to 9 months. There were never any schedule despite that we kept asking for one.
When workers come, they have to buy their own supplies. The materials supplied by home direct is either late or the wrong items.
They rented a garbage bin in my driveway and it was there for over 4 months despite I kept asking them to remove it. The result was that they left a stain in my driveway.
When after 8 months they were ready to tile and then the company told us that they did not order the tiles and we had to go out on our own to get it.
When it comes time to measure the glass doors for the shower, the installers found out that the workers did not build the bulk head and bottom properly so instead of one piece, they had to join 2 pieces together at an odd angle.
In general the workmanship was terrible. The company agreed that we use the last payment of $1300 to connect the light fixtures and do some minor fixing. Unfortunately, the glass doors cannot be replaced without redoing the bulkhead, and they did poor job cutting the marble on the niche, none of these can be rectified for less than over $2000.
To add insult to injury, we discovered a leak causing molds in the cabinets after 1 month. The company sent someone to do some resealing but did not work. I cannot afford to wait for them to fix a leak based on prior experience, so I hired outside contractors to complete the job.
I have sent the company proof of poor workmanship and damages to my cabinets. I have also sent pictures of the my contractor removing tiles in the shower, replace pipes, fixed wrong installations and reapply proper sealants. If the company does not reimburse me for out of pocket expenses, I will have to take them to court.
So if you want to retain this company, make sure you set a deadline and make sure they correct every little mistakes.

Bathroom Reno

Do not hire this company, they are in financial distress, they do not pay vendors, contractors or employees on time or at all in some cases, they have terrible customer service and will not deliver per their agreement. I paid in full (90% paid in March 2023 and the remaining 10% in July 2023 which i only paid in order to get my shower glass installed). It took 5 months for a bathroom reno that was to take 4 weeks, had to fight every step of the way to get work completed, bathroom is still incomplete and i have damage to my stairs, walls and kitchen ceiling from the work. Lots of minor touchups in the bathroom still needed, no backsplash installed on the counter. The owner recently tried to force me to pay another $1900 for "special LED" mirrors that were already installed that they "forgot" to bill me for. This job was 42K and i now have to pay for repairs to my home and buy and install a backsplash. They are not reputable. Do not use them. A glamourous showroom, lots of office staff, no one to do the actual work and do it well, and an owner who is volatile and pulls staff off jobs and won't let them return to complete the work until he can squeeze more money from customers.

Bad Experience

My Wife and I hired this company to renovate our bathroom in December 2022. The sales staff told us it would take 4 weeks. It ended up taking between 5-6 months. At the end of the project there were multiple deficiencies that the owner refused to address and would not honour the warranty provided in their contract. They left a pile of garbage in my garage and despite numerous requests to pick it up, it was never done. Perhaps of most concern, there were other projects going on in our house at the same time and their employees or subcontractors were caught taking materials from other areas of the home and not just small things (plywood and sheets of dry wall). We have had to incur thousands of dollars in unnecessary additional expenses. Based on our experience, I feel a moral obligation to warn people against using this company.

House renovation ( Never Happened)

I paid HomeReno Direct to renovate my house. This project was suppose to take 3-4 months to complete. We are in our 4th month and nothing has started. They took my money and never did the work. Ive reached out to there design team, the project manager, their accountant then finally Remon. I contacted Remon almost on daily basis to update me on the status of my project and each time he told me, "I'll update you tomorrow!" Tomorrow never came! It's at the point where no one from the HomeReno Direct is returning
my phone calls or emails.

Horrible horrible company.

Terrible company. It took them 1.5 years to complete a 1500 square feet renovation. They overcharged us and begged us for money at the end because they said they were experiencing financial hardship. Please DO NOT do business with them

Basement Renovations

""BUYER BEWARE""
I was looking for a company who would finish my basement. its 1400 sq ft of space and i wanted a professional look at completion.
I drove by this Home Reno on Dixie road one day and decided to investigate. Worse mistake i ever did.
After talking to their salesman( conMan), he promised me the world.
The place has state of the art showroom and lots of modern equipment.
(Caution its a cloaking setup to fool customers.)
upon signing the contract, the problems started immediately.
Start day delays, phony project managers, (amatures), and additional costs they call a change order. Every thing i complained about was a change order with additional costs.
We were promised the job would take no longer than 3 months, So I had to put stuff in storage for an additional cost, meanwhile it took exactly 1 year to finish the job. You can imagine the costs...
They will not keep their word on anything they say, all false.
They do not have any real trades on their staff , they just hire the cheapest trades they can find.
As far as meterials....Cheap....Cheap....Cheap. looks cheap, feels cheap, and they charge a premium price.
They will get you to sign that contract (ransom sheet) and then they will do what ever they want with no consideration to their client nor trades.
Delay the job, cut corners, tell the trades to keep it cheap and then if you complain, they blame the trades.
This company gives the construction industry a bad name. Very dis-honest company to deal with.

[BUYER BEWARE]
Approach with extreme caution.

Outstanding service!

I initially visited Home Reno Direct to shop for a new vanity, but their designer convinced me to re-do my entire master bathroom with them after seeing their breathtaking showroom. I must say, theyve done an excellent job with the bathroom, especially the beautifully tiled shower with inlaid mosaic and the rain shower head weve always wanted. They gave me a 3D preview of what my bathroom would look like during the consultation, this is above and beyond what I would expect for a job consisting of only 1 bathroom. Wyll was my project manager and communication was excellent with him. The trades were consistent and thorough in their work. I really couldnt have asked for a better experience when renovating. Were planning on doing the kitchen with Home Reno Direct next year. Thank you for an amazing job guys!
