DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

The actual issue was a venting issue. The technician was dishonest. He assured he was able to fix the problem. After 45 minutes of vacuuming the dryer, he charged us $300.00 . The problem was not with the dryer, it was a venting issue. The technician did not produce any evidence of the work he said he resolved. The report was to call an air duct specialist to resolve the issue. The air duct company that resolved the problem confirmed that this company had been dishonest. I am reporting them to the better business bureau. Service and trust should mean something. It is clear this company cares nothing except taking money from people.

Washing machine repair

I called the Appliance Repair Guys to come and fix the door boot seal because I could clearly see that there was a rip in it which caused the water to leak out. The customer service lady was professional and was able to get someone to come and take a look within 3 hours of my call which was great. She told me about the $80 service call charge that would be deducted if I decided to go with the repair. I figured that was fine because I needed to get it fixed. I've had my whirlpool front-load washing machine for only 5 years. This "kid" came and looked at the rip and said that "it could be" the reason that the leak is happening but couldn't be sure until he took a look at all of the components inside". He gave me a price of $575 to replace just the door boot seal and told me that it would be another $280 to do a service check on the machine to check for any other problems and that it would not include any additional part and labour costs. Which would be a total of more than I actually paid for the machine. He seemed surprised when I told him that I was going to think about it. I called a couple of other repair companies after he left to compare the quote and they both came in at about $300 to do the same thing. I was able to get my repair done the next day with another repair company that did not charge me an initial service call fee. My bad for not looking at the HomeStars reviews on these guys before I called them...the reviews on their website are great. Don't be fooled like me.

Very Shady dryer repair

Dryer stopped heating up, clothes were not drying. I wanted to go get a new machine, my wife wanted to repair this one. Called ARG, was told that $80 fee was charged for service call and diagnoses.

Repair guy calls me 2.5hrs before my evening appointment saying he is outside the house (I am at work) 10/10 for speedy service!

I explain to him that on timed dry setting there is no heat, I think the timer is bad, and the timer dial feels loose. He turns the dryer on runs it for 2 minutes.
Diagnoses...... there is no heat!!!!
"I will do a full service of the wires, heating element, and control board for $280 no guarantees but I should be able to fix it."

Happy wife happy life.... ok go ahead. He unscrews the back cover, puts his voltmeter on a couple wire harness connections..... "your timer is no good" which is what I had told him from the start.

The part is $394 and no labour charge because I paid the $280. I told him I would think about it because a new dryer is $600-$800.

I called customer service as soon as he left and asked why my $80 didn't cover diagnoses? I was told there must have been a misunderstanding and it is a call centre that sets the appointments. After I got off the phone I went online and ordered the part (whirlpool original part) for $134 plus $4.95 shipping.... far cry from $394

Terrible

Terrible. Do not call these guys. They want to charge more than the new appliance. They pre-charge for service and then wanted to mark up part by more than 500%.

Too expensive, they are useless, never again.

Called them to fix the Kenmore washing machine and asked if the repair man carries part with him and the answer was yes, Nick was on time and I mentioned the pressure switch, he said he will go through the diagnosis and that will be $316.40 plus parts and I agreed. One hour later he said he is done and need to order a pressure switch and that will cost over $400.00 and probably will not be the solution, sorry I had to get rid of him and fast. They are too expensive and unprofessional, will never want to deal with them or recommend them.

Poor Service / Broke my Fridge

I called them to fix my ice maker/water dispenser and to fix ice build up in the fridge. After charging me $320, and declaring that fixing the icemaker would cost $750 and that I should just get a Britta, he left. The next day, the icemaker started working, the control panel on fridge went haywire and the fridge stopped cooling. After filling out their warranty form and a few phone calls, I have given up as now they will charge me for fixing the fridge they broke. I would never recommend them. Stay away.

Appliance Repair

Our dishwasher door wouldn't open . I asked Appliance repair guys to come out and repair the dishwasher and to look at replacing the toggle switch in the fridge. The technician was late, which I could understand, opened the dishwasher door. He then said he couldn't get pricing to quote for a repair, charged me $80.00 for the call out and would then deduct this from the final repair. I waited a week and still didn't get a quote. Phoned and was hurriedly told they would see to it even though the lady on the phone didn't confirm any details. I am still waiting. $80 to open a dishwasher door, nice . Seems we were blessed to get off this lightly

They are too expensive

They were on time and repaired my dryer fast but they charged me three time more than average rate.

I called customer care but she said I had agreed to the charges before the work started.

I had similar work done on a washer in anther rental unit and cost me less than $80.

Appliance repair

Stay away from this company. I wish I had read the reviews from here beforehand.

I called for repair service and was told on the phone that a person would show up at a given time. The visit would cost $80 and the person would diagnose the problem and let me know the cost to repair.

I said I had a Whirlpool washing machine that didn't drain. It was also making a weird noise when turned on and made a burning smell, but I didn't mention that.

I also said I had an oven who's broiler wasn't turning on. I didn't know the make (I was at work), but I told them I thought it was Electrolux.

The repair guy showed up. So I have to give the company 1 star. Everything else was down hill from there.

1. First, he spent 1 minute with my washing machine (didn't try various cycles or cycle changes) and said it wasn't draining and it would cost $280 to fix plus parts. He said he had 80% of the parts in his car.

Okay, I said. How much do the parts cost. He couldn't tell me. He said in order to quote the price he would have to order the part. I asked why he had to order the part if he had it in his car? He said he doesn't know the model number of the washing machine so he can't confirm he has that specific part.

I then told him I didn't think he looked at the washing machine well enough to know what was wrong. He scoffed. I said the washer makes a weird sound when spinning and doesn't spin fast. He turned the cycle to spin. It spun, albeit slowly, with the weird noise. He turns back to me and said, it's spinning. I explained that it doesn't normally spin like this. He said it's all related to the draining like he said in the first place. $280 plus parts but he can't tell me how much those parts will cost.

Hmmm. Okay, let's see if you can help with the oven.

He goes to the oven and immediately opens the back. He doesn't turn the oven on to test the broiler. He doesn't look inside the oven for signs of physical damage. He just opens the back and starts tinkering. And he says he knows what's wrong. The signal isn't going to the control board. It's also a $280 job plus parts. If I get both fixed then the second job is reduced to $220.

Okay, how much are the parts for this oven? Again, he says, I can't say. There are too many possible parts that may need replacing. Really, I respond. Can you just tell me the most expensive part so I can determine if it's worth it? No. I'd have to order the part. Electrolux has a lot of components.

This is where my wife chimes in. Our oven isn't Electrolux. Yes it is, he replies. My wife points to the front of the oven, then why does it have a GE badge? Oh, because He and Electrolux are the same company.

So you want me to commit to $500 in labour plus unknown parts costs? You don't even seem to know what's wrong with the oven.

He shakes his head. Yes I do. I just told you the control board isn't getting signal.

Sorry man, I'm not going to commit to that. So I pay him the $80 and he leaves. I then Google what an Electrolux oven looks like and it doesn't have the GE badge. He was just relying on what I reported without verifying it himself.

Now I'm upset.

I call the company to complain. I say the repair guy didn't diagnose anything. He just repeated what I reported and wanted me to commit to $500 in labour plus parts with no estime on the parts cost.

The manager I spoke to said the $80 is not to diagnose problems. It's to get someone to your house. I said that's not what I was told by the phone dispatcher or the repair guy. The manager said it sounds like miscommunication.

Obviously nothing will come of this.

As for the epilogue, another repair company came by and fixed both appliances with parts for $350+HST.

And in doing so, noticed the thermostat in the oven was disconnected. So had we tried to bake (as opposed to broil) the oven would not have worked. All works now. I suppose that was the Appliance Repair Guys parting gift to me.

Stay away.

Maytag electric stove

These guys are extremely unprofessional and i would never ever use them again. I called to have the indicator light on my Maytag electric stove fixed. I sent them a picture of the stove and asked them to make sure the technician carried a replacement switch which caused this issue. I was promised that would be done. The technician turns up during the time slot, he had not seen the picture with the model, did not carry the replacement switch and blunt assessment was that the motherboard required to be worked on and the minimum labor would be $260 plus cost of parts. In the past i had this switch replaced by a Maytag technician for under $100 so this qoute made no sense. I decided to payoff $90 for the service call and never to use this company again.
