We had a new house built for us last year and when we moved in, were very frustrated that with 4 floors, we were unable to manage temperatures effectively during the day or night, with one thermostat/zone, no matter what we tried.
Priority Mechanical started with a full balancing of the system in September, but we were still over-cooling the basement and first floor, and staying too warm during the night on the second floor where most of the bedrooms are located.
After receiving an in-depth consultation with Jeremy from Priority, we decided to implement his system design--which removed the main supply plenum and replaced it with two zone controlled plenums, managed by electro-mechanical dampers.
It was a fairly big job--they had to rip out the old supply duct and then move the return plenum over so that it would all fit back together properly. They also installed a new humidifier during the project.
The net result from their implementation which uses a Honeywell control system, including the Honeywell Vision Pro thermostats, has been nothing short of revolutionary for us. The thermostats are linked to an external wireless thermometer, and the system provides active frost management (window frost)--something that is really useful in this climate. We can now effectively manage air temperature and humidity across the two zones which gives us a lot of control at both the bedroom level and the main living level.
The difference before/after really is dramatic--the second floor can be at 60 F while the main floor is at 72 F, or vice-versa. The house is much more livable because of this change.
Priority's understanding of HVAC technology and quality workmanship puts them with the best in the field in my opinion and I believe that our newly zoned system will be working more effectively for a long time, with minimal maintenance.
In addition, with the Honeywell system, we have secure remote access (smart phone, PC, tablet) via Honeywell's Redlink gateway for monitoring, adjusting, and updating system scheduling. Honeywell also provides email alerts if the temperature goes too low or too high.
In summary, I think that Priority delivered exactly what they said they would deliver, and did it in a professional and courteous manner. Jeremy in particular, never failed to answer my never-ending questions about air flow, static pressures, motor speeds, and technology in general and was always spot-on with his advice as to the best approach to undertake.
If you have an HVAC problem to solve (large or small), I highly recommend that you contact him at Priority Mechanical. My only regret is that I didn't meet Jeremy and the team at Priority before we built this house.
