We hired Jeff to demo and re-do (kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom, living space) my bungalow's basement to accommodate an in-law suite for my mother.

Jeff did a great job protecting the upstairs from the downstairs to limit as much dust as possible. Him and his team were very respectful of the space and clean-up. He always answered my calls and gave his honest opinion.

The project ended up taking longer than said but we didn't mind.

There were a few finishes issues (not entirely Jeff's fault as we outsourced some of the work) but he always tried to make the best of the situation and rectify it even though it wasn't his fault.
My recommendation when hiring Jeff is to have him do all the work otherwise you may not be satisfied (in our case) and Jeff would make sure it is done RIGHT.

I'm sure we'll be a memorable client and thank you for being patient Jeff, don't be a stranger.

Jeff Hayes contracting recently completed renovating the entire upper floor of our home in Sandy Hill (including two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a laundry room). Jeff completely transformed the space! He was involved in every step of the design, construction and finishing and can be trusted with managing all aspects of the renovation process. His team is hard-working and reliable and produced very high quality work. Any obstacles were handled efficiently and professionally. The end result was both modern and elegant - The master bathroom is stunning!

We had already hired a designer to design our dream kitchen and we were looking for a reliable and capable contractor to actually build it. A friend suggested we contact Jeff Hayes. Jeff came out to meet us one evening and submitted a detailed, itemized quote later that night. Some adjustments were required over the next couple of weeks (we hadn't quite decided on the kitchen flooring or the backsplash...), but these updates were also timely and detailed, and Jeff even provided different options and considerations during the decision-making. The quote was very reasonable, and it didn't change once it was signed off.

This was our biggest renovation to date. We didn't make any structural changes to the footprint of the kitchen, but we changed everything else... We replaced all of the cabinets (and doubled them), counters, backsplash, etc. We upgraded to a 36-inch gas stove and hood fan, and had a much bigger sink installed. We chose a quartz countertop on one side and stainless steel on the other. We also had a custom pantry built.

We are really pleased with the work that Jeff and his team put in. Everyone was professional, the timing was pretty accurate, and the final product is awesome. Even though this summer was apparently Jeff's busiest one to date, he was always still available to answer questions or provide updates. I never felt like the other projects were competing with my own. Absolutely nothing seems to faze Jeff, and he was always professional and pleasant to deal with. He even created some tasks for our 4-year-old, who was desperate to help out...

We are THRILLED with the end result -- we LOVE our new kitchen. We would definitely work with Jeff Hayes again, and we are happy to refer him to others.

We hired Jeff Hayes Contracting to do a complete renovation of our main bathroom. Jeff is an honest, reliable, hard-working person. He arrived daily until our renovation was complete, kept us informed of the on-going progress and plan of work. He communicated and consulted with us throughout the entire project. He is clearly knowledgeable in all the various trades required to complete the work (electrical, plumbing, tiling, flooring and installation of bathroom fixtures). He always introduced any additional employees who arrived to work (eg. Mike his electrician). He was respectful of us and our home. There were several preventable mishaps during the renovation, which is the reason for the lower rating, but Jeff was quick to address and resolve them.

Jeff was referred to us by a prominent Ottawa Real Estate Broker and I could not have been any happier with our decision to go with his company. Jeff was very thorough from the initial bidding process right down to the final clean up. We found Jeff to be very knowledgeable and extremely helpful to make sure we followed all OBC and City codes and requirements and stayed within our budget. Although we did run into a few unforeseen 'surprises' he quickly assessed the issues and came up with solutions that still kept us within our budget. Jeff's sub trades were also very easy to deal with and they worked seamlessly alongside Jeff providing the same quality and care that shows in how our finished space looks! As a company that prides ourselves on high quality golf instruction we were thrilled to have Jeff provide the same high quality in his materials and workmanship. Any project can be a stressful experience but Jeff was so easy to deal with that I have to say that we had fun from start to finish. I could have saved some money by hiring individual sub contractors myself but Jeff seamlessly handled this for me and scheduled everything nicely to completion. Jeff was professional, clean and on time and was worth the little bit of extra cost.

I purchased a new home and had only two weeks to have changes made before occupancy. I hired Jeff Hayes Contracting to install a new sub-floor to eliminate a sunken living room and install new hardwood throughout the house, which required removal of carpets in some areas and preparation for a new fireplace. The finished job was amazing and timing perfect. When unexpected surprises surfaced related to the old chimney, Jeff handled them efficiently and with charm. His crew were courteous and professional.
