Full House of Windows

I want to be super detailed so everyone reading knows what to expect. GoldStar will insist on all decision makers to be present and they will also grossly underestimate the time it takes to do that presentation.
We were solicited from a neighborhood canvass. We were quickly scheduled for 2 days later in the evening. We were told it would be 60-90 minutes; after 2.5 hours, our salesperson was still there. With a 3 year old, that can be pretty tough. Roman was very nice and very knowledgable overall. He had demonstrations and all sorts of information with him. Some things to know: One, pay careful attention to the flip charts. At least twice, we caught situations where there was not an "apples to apples" comparison. For example: Comparing a high end, super premium window (in terms of cost) to the GoldStar product when the GoldStar product is not "super premium". That's like comparing a Lexus to a Ford and noting a price difference. There IS a price difference; however, the products are not the same.
Our salesperson mentioned other brands, and some of that information is debatable. Do some internet research.
Some other things to note: Roman brought in a demonstration window for us to view. This was very helpful. However, one thing he had us do was raise and lower the window to demonstrate how easy they raise and lower. This is an inaccurate demonstration because the demo window is not installed in a wall! Any free window will raise or lower easily! Now that these windows are installed, they do raise somewhat easily, but nowhere near as easily as the free standing window. Certainly not "with one finger" as was mentioned to us.
We received an initial quotation of over $20,000 for all of the windows in our home. The final price was just above $15K, which was nowhere in our budget. I will say that our salesperson did not push for a "complete" replacement, instead suggesting that we do a "partial" replacement to start. We were not given much time to talk between us (husband and wife type of talk) but eventually were able to agree to get 17 windows done for over $8,000. The financing we were offered was not terribly competitive so we took the 1 year no interest financing and are working to pay that off before the year is over.
Our measurement took place just a few days later and we were installed in a matter of weeks after that. Where GoldStar fails in the sales pitch, they make up for in installation. Yes, it was annoying to take down window treatments and move some furniture. I agree. However, the people that showed up to my home were PROFESSIONAL. They spoke clear English. They cleaned up after themselves. They were PLEASANT to be around and I never felt uncomfortable. The job was done in two days. I have had many contractors come to our home to do various things and this was the best experience by far.
Once we were able to secure additional financing (through a home improvement loan from the government), we contacted GoldStar again to get more windows done. My suggestion is this: Do a partial installation first, then contact for more windows. You will find the pricing is...different. Case in point: We had 17 windows replaced at a cost of about $9,500. We then contracted for 12 more windows at a cost of $6,700. We have just 2 windows remaining - are you paying attention to the math here? Our original quote was just over $25,000, but we've gotten all but 2 windows replaced for under $20,000. The 2 remaining windows are small and standard, and should cost us another $500 or so...lower than the quote we received on Night #1 for the whole house.
Having lived with these windows for a while now, I can say they are lovely. They are sturdy. They do not leak and they open and lock easily. The installation experience was superior to any other contractor I've dealt with. The sales pitch and pricing was definitely not. We are not sorry we used them. If you go into the experience knowing that the sales pitch will be nearly unbearable, you will be happy with the finished product because it's quite nice.

Big Deal

Count me among all of the other satisfied customers. I signed up for the Big Deal with this company and was contacted right away by GoldStar to set up a time to do measurements. Nick was very professional & showed up right on time. He quickly measured all of windows & provided a good presentation of the windows and the installation process. I asked for an install date about 6 weeks later because I knew I would be off that week & I was given the 1st appt time of that week. The day of the install it was of course raining very hard but the radar indicated it would be clearing soon. The crew showed up right on time & got started the minute the rain started to let up. They never stopped moving and went from 1 room to the next. I was assured that they would finish the job in 1 day but I was hoping it would not go late into the evening. They did an excellent job & cleaned up every last scrap of debris & hauled it all away. The moved furniture as needed & replaced everything right back in place when finished. There was no dirt or debris left in the house anywhere. The windows are very good quality and appear to be working just fine. I am looking forward to the winter to see the effects of better sealing windows. The thing I have to call out as a testament of why you should choose this company came when I was standing on my front porch as they were cleaning up. As I talking with the crew lead I noticed a brand new window still in its packaging on my porch. I mentally started checking to see if all of the windows had been replaced. I was told that although the window sizes had been measured correctly, one window had the wrong size entered into the computer. The crew chief became aware of the problem at 2 pm & called their factory & all production stopped while they remade my window. A new window had been delivered to my house (55 km away) by 5:15 pm & installed by 5:30 pm that day. There is no way if this had happened to any other company that a new window could have been made & delivered in 3 hours. I am more than impressed & whole heartedly recommend this company. Everyone is very professional, hard working and the quality is very good.
The only downside is that they do not have a variety of double hung windows to choose from but I think the quality of the one I received was very good. The price was also a good price.

windows and doors replacement

My experience was very positive. We got three or four bids and their price was the best. We evaluated the quality of the product and they had the best product. The installation was very professional. The crew of people that came did a great job. They cleaned up after themselves. The windows were installed properly, with no drifts or any other problems. They performed well. This is the second year we have had it and we are very satisfied with the company, the product and with the professionalism. We have had a call, because we had an issue, which was resolved the same day. They owner of the company came out and took care of it. Everything was top notch. "Gold Star Window" is a great company to do business with. I would recommend them to anybody.

WINDOW PROJECT

We went with GoldStar for several reasons: one was cost when we decided that in this particular room we did not need the best money could buy. The second was the quality and design of the GoldStar window: easy to open, flip and wash, double locks, vent locks, thin yet strong frames, simplicity of the look. No one is distracted by these windows in and of themselves. We chose the off white color and it disappears quite nicely into the surrounding color scheme. Outside it is hardly noticeable against the trim of the house.

The GoldStar salesman, John, was a really great guy and he responded immediately to all our questions. The installation team was headed by a former Soviet air force officer, Commander Brodsky, who treated our project like he was building a space station. The job was perfect. On time, no complaints.

We would definitely use GoldStar again; in fact, we tried recently with a specialized larger plate glass window we wanted to replace four smaller windows in a set. The custom peculiarities of the size were not in GoldStars's repetoire otherwise we would have been happy to give them the business.

Those GoldStar windows we installed were purchased in 2009 and we have no problems of any kind with them.

9 windows by GoldStar

I recently purchased a house with 18 windows. Nine were replaced in 2006 by the previous owner with energy efficient double hung, dual pane vinyl windows. The other nine were old single pane wooden windows that provided nearly no protection from the outside elements. I researched all the window providers that serviced my area and got a few quotes. I knew ahead of time that I was looking to spend roughly $400 per window.
I called "GoldStar window" to book an estimate. A few days later, a sales rep showed up and gave us a rundown of their products (they are the manufacturer as well as the retailer) and gave us literature. He showed us the various types of glass, and demonstrated with a heat lamp how each reduces heat transference. He also tested these on both my old windows and my 2006 replacement windows, which was nice to have a comparison. After the demonstration, he said he would write up an estimate. I showed him the coupons from flyer, and he gave me back 3 numbers- the full price, the discounted factory dealers price, and the price if I buy that night. The last was the cheapest. While it's always tough making decisions without having time to consider it, I do understand the tactic. They try to lock you in now, before you shop estimates from every other company. Fortunately, I did my research ahead of time, and GoldStar's 'that night only' price was the cheapest for high quality windows (I was relying on other reviews to expect good quality). Plus, the price was close to my original goal of $400 per window. There was a mark up for disposal of lead paint windows. I don't know if my old windows had lead paint, but better safe than sorry I suppose. I signed the contract agreement that night, paid 15% the total upfront, and scheduled a date to have the windows measured.
A few days later, guys from Gold Star came to measure my windows. They also measured my exterior doors, because I was considering having them replaced as well. One guy noted that my 2006 windows were poorly caulked, and that they could re-caulk them if I wanted to add that. I declined, because I wanted to see the difference after they put in the new windows. I then set a date to have them install the windows.
On the date of the install, three guys showed up on time from GoldStar. They knocked out my old windows, and installed the new ones. When they were done, I inspected everything before they left. First, they matched perfectly with my windows (this was a concern of mine). They looked great, the install was clean, they opened and closed nicely, the security tabs were easy to use, the locks work well, the sashes were easy to remove to clean. On the outside, the caulking looked significantly better than my 2006 replacement windows. An added benefit: the windows are guaranteed. But how well do they work? It has been a few months since the install and 1 day since hurricane, and these windows are great. I can finally manage the temperature of my entire house, because my rooms aren't affected by the outside temperature. Incredible noise dampening, and perfectly air sealed. These windows have made a drastic improvement on my house. I can't report on any power cost savings; I don't have air conditioning. I will be calling GoldStar again when I'm ready to replace my doors.
Fantastic windows for sound/noise/wind reduction. Great price, excellent service.

window installation

Dan, Ben and John arrived at my home and each of them were professional, courteous and very friendly. Ben has a great sense of humor and even scored himself a delicious serving of my husband's trademark seafood salad. Ben began laying down drop cloths and cardboard to protect the floors. He even covered decorative items on my dining room table with plastic. The same care was taken in the upstairs office space where the other repairs were completed. John and Dan even moved the desk in the office space closer to the window that I had it which opened up more space in the room. Todd told me that the all of the work would be done by 4:30pm and the guys beat his time by ten minutes. I had work done by window wizards on other windows in the past, and Dan pointed out that window wizards didn't caulk around the windows the way they should have and he corrected that issue as well. When the guys were done working, they vacuumed and swept up behind themselves, leaving the work area very neat. My repairs took place on a very cold day which cause one of the new window latches to crack rather easily. Dan made me aware of the situation and has assured me that he will be back out in the near future(at my earliest convenience) to replace the latch which will only take 5-10 mins. I appreciate his honesty. I will be using GoldStar windows for any future window replacements and repairs. I would highly recommend their services.

Windows and door

We found GoldStar on Home Stars. We called and made an appointment with their estimator Roman. He came out and specked the job. He was polite, professional and accomodating (I had my heart set on a specific style of security door, and Roman found it for me, though he had to do some research, and we chose an unusual style of window). He got an estimate to us in a timely manor. We made a down payment of 10% and were told that it would be about 6 weeks for the windows and doors to be made. It took a little longer than that (about 8 weeks), and I called to check at that point. Roman told me that the windows were expected in shortly and we coordinated a time for the installation. He said it would take 3 days. Crew arrived on time, were polite, clean and respectful of us and our space. They finished the job in 2 and half days. There was one problem; the door had been installed backwards which interfered with its opening. A crew came out at our earliest convenience and reinstalled the door. We were very pleased with GoldStar work and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Windows and Door

I looked at a few company reviews on the internet and the most eye-catching reviews were on GoldStar. I thought what people were saying wasn't true, but I took a risk and called them and met up with them and when I saw there Representatives I felt that I was putting my trust in hard workers. They showed me an idea that I fell in love with, In the end I was very happy with there work. Because of GoldStar I've been saving much more money on energy and my house looks more comfortable and lit-up.

I just want to thank you for the hard workers and professional service.
