Windows By Installer

Windows by Installer market themselves as a window company which you are purchasing direct from installer. They actually contract out the installation of the windows. I ordered in June and the work is still not complete. Flashing on two windows, window still dangling etc. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I can provide photos to anyone who needs further information.

Please note - although company came and fixed discrepancies - one year later the hardware on my door completely broke and had to be replaced as well as some windows had to be recaulked. Disappointing.

NOTE - COMPANY HAS FULLY MADE GOOD ON THE PROJECT AND COME BACK AND FIXED ALL DISCREPANCIES AT THEIR COST.

I found Windows by Installer on Homestars. The serviceman came out and measured the door to be replaced and reviewed the options with me - including prices. I went to Lowes to see what a comparable door would cost installed but besides not having the door I wanted, it would have been even more expensive than Windows by Installer. With discounts the work totaled $1230.00. I selected a replacement door but did not like the hardware available in the catalogue and was told I could choose whatever style I wanted and they would order it for me. The owner then came out to do a confirmation measurement. I was told the door would take 3 weeks but it arrived in less than 2 weeks and the owner installed it immediately.

The salesman was great. He was very attentive and very good about answering questions I had while he was here and afterwards. I had one problem with the window, the plastic stops and the window keeps coming down and one of them broke very easily and he brought some out, he put one and he gave me two or three of those for nothing. They stuck to their word and they stuck to their estimate. I would recommend them because they've done a very good job. They were as quick as they said they would be and I had windows in one day and siding within the next two days. They were very timely. I compared their price to a lot of people and they were right in the middle. They were very good. I was very pleased with their work, the products I got and their professionalism they presented to me. I would use them again in the future.

If you are looking for windows, look no further. I talked to six different companies and Alex from Windows by installer is different. Different in such a positive way. From the moment we met him, he was all about making our experience positive. Anytime you decide to make a big investment in your home, you want to work with someone who understands your concerns and potential apprehension. Alex met every concern I had with the investment head on, no hard sell, just the offer to help us in any way his company could. This is the way home improvement should be done.
On to the install. After taking three months to decide, Alex treated us just the same. Not upset we took a long time to decide but happy to help us in any way he could. The seven people we interacted with for the measuring and install were great. Any time you invite total strangers into your home you do so with a bit of concern. The install crew were awesome. They explained exactly what they intended to do upon arrival and move expeditiously through the install phase. They respected our personal property and communicated through out the day. A truly great team with each member knowing their role and worked well together ("a well oiled machine"). We ate lunch with the work crew in our kitchen and they were straight back to work. Years of experience and they did a very good job of cleaning up after themselves. The owner called upon completion to make sure and guarantee our happiness. What more could we ask for?
Our home is pretty old and had the original anderson windows. Windows by installer replaced them with a very high end replacement that makes our home look awesome. If you need windows, please consider Alex from Wbi. Our experience was 10 X better than I could have hoped.

The whole purchasing experience was overall very positive. WBI has a very nice showroom in Vaughan where you can go and see the products first hand which was a big plus for us because we were struggling with the decision to go with wood or vinyl windows. We decided to go with the Restorations vinyl windows that WBI carries because we felt that it was a very nice product. We compared these windows to other vinyl and wood windows and you can hardly tell the difference between them. We compared these windows to other vinyl windows and the Restorations product really stood out to us as far as looks and quality. We ended up paying slightly more for the Restorations windows as compared to what other companies were offering but the minor cost difference was well worth it for the product we got. We still need to replace all of the windows in the first floor of our home and we will be purchasing the Restorations windows for that as well. We have no regrets going with the vinyl windows and feel like we got a very nice product for the money.
Everyone we dealt with throughout the process was very professional and easy to work with. The windows came in quickly once ordered and WBI called us as soon as they got the windows in to schedule the install. The installers arrived promptly and got to work right away. The installation took a little over 3 hours which was very quick considering the amount of work they did with two men. They were careful to cover everything while they were working and cleaned up after themselves inside and out when they were done.
We are very pleased with the quality of the windows and the quality of the work that was completed and we will use WBI again to do the rest of the windows in our home in the future.
