Two bathroom renovations

I just used Canaroma to renovate two bathrooms - my kids' bathroom and the master bathroom. I bought everything including the vanities, tub, tiles, faucets and medicine cabinets at Canaroma and it was an exceptional experience. I worked with Gino to choose the products for both bathrooms and he was very patient with all the time it took for me to make my decisions, and offered lots of options. He worked within my budget and provided the assistance of an in-house designer to help with specific design questions. Sakshi in the order/delivery department made sure everything was delivered on time and was very responsive. All of the products were high quality and arrived in good condition. When I needed some replacement parts - including a mirror that was smaller than the size I had ordered - Gino was very helpful and responsive and got me the parts and ordered the right mirror quickly. A great place to partner with for bathroom renovations. Using Canaroma, I was able to take on two large renos with only a contractor and no designer.

shower renovation

We were attracted to CanaRoma at the Home Show. They were featuring a shower door at a very reasonable price which suited our project perfectly. Subsequently we visited the showroom and Amanda assisted us with tile and fixtures. She understood the scope of our project and respected our budget. We had no problem with warehousing/pick-up of materials. And we couldn't be more pleased with the result.

Bathroom Reno

They are helpful and professional until you place an order and they get your deposit money, then you become non-existent to them, and actually delivering your stuff is on the very low end of their priority list. 3 wks will turn into 6, 6 weeks will into 8, 8 weeks will turn into 12, etc. You cannot believe a word that comes out of their mouths, they will all tell you a different story and a different excuse, and in the end when you get so frustrated at the fact that they've taken your money and not produced any merchandise and you want to cancel the order and get a refund they will refuse, saying the deposit money is non-refundable. One word describes this behavior - THEFT. No business can legally take your money and then fail/refuse to produce the merchandise - in the eyes of the law that is THEFT and according to the Consumer Protection Act, they have breached the terms of a legal contract, and that is grounds for litigation, and/or criminal investigation. This is what I was told when I consulted with the Consumer Protection Branch to see if I had a legitimate case. Simply put - YES I DO. So, for all those people here who have experienced these same issues with them, please do not sit back and take this lightly, they are in engaging in illegal activity when they take your money and fail/refuse to produce the merchandise you've paid for in a reasonable time frame. At a certain point when you realize that you're likely not going to get your stuff, you need to proceed legally, not just sit around and wait and wait and wait and trust and believe. You have the law on your side.

Company Response

Hello Paula ,my name is Brent hanna and am the showroom manager at Canaroma. I read your comment and find it difficult to understand your experience. We have been in business for over 30 years and if we ran our business as portrayed in your comments we would not have lasted very long. Many of our customers are repeat customers or referral customers. I have spoke to all of our sales staff and our customer service department to explore any insights to this situation and could not shed any light on this particular circumstance.
The only time there would be a non-refundable deposit is if the item was a custom order as it clearly states on the front of our work orders.
With all this said please feel free to contact me directly so I can better understand your personal regard to this matter.

Purchased Shower Systems and Tub

I purchased two shower systems, and also a tub from Canaroma. Their sales Robyn was very helpful during the selection process but got the models wrong on the work order. Luckily I caught it and she issued a new, correct work order.

I had no problem with the quality of the fixtures I bought. Cabano is a great high end brand. I just had problem with their deliveries.

The tub I bought should have been 31.75 " wide, but a 30" wide tub was delivered (I later found out they delivered the tub based on Robyn's first incorrect work order). The delivery guy quickly dropped off the box without giving me a chance to check it. It had no indication on the box. When the plumber proceeded to install, it was too late, so I just had him install the 30" wide tub or else I would have to pay for extra plumbing fee for him to come on another day.

The Cabano Shower System I bought was supposed to have a rain shower from the ceiling. It came with an arm for the wall, and not for the ceiling (but on the box it showed the rain shower from the ceiling, and as a layman, I couldn't tell that the ceiling arm was missing). I was not at the house when the plumber came, so they roughed in what they found in the box...shower arm from wall. I had to pay them extra to come back on another day to re do the rough in from the ceiling. When I called to inform Robyn, they acknowledged their mistake and only offered to exchange the part, and that I had to go pick it up, and they would not be delivering.

While I am very satisfied with Shannon in customer service, I am very disappointed with the quality control in deliveries. If you do order from them, do not let the truck leave without your contractor checking all the parts.

False Merchandise

After weeks of searching for a bathroom vanity I had stumbled across Canaroma. Visited their showroom in Woodbridge and had found exactly what I was looking for...so I had thought. After waiting 6 weeks (instead of 4 as promised) for delivery, the vanity was significantly different from their showroom model. Their explanation "showroom models may be dated and vary from actual product" - Roy (Owner). Requested a refund and was told there would be an associated restocking fee. Bathroom vanity is now the basement vanity. Will never again purchase from or recommend Canaroma.

Company Response

Hello Mike from Woodbridge, my name is Brent Hanna and I am the showroom manager at Canaroma and I work for Roy.

I received an email regarding your review of Canaroma and decided to investigate in order to respond.

In reviewing your particular purchase you had ordered a Vanico vanity in a wood veneer  finish. The  style of the  cabinet you viewed in the showroom is in melamine and will show a melamine interior matching the exterior of the cabinet.

The salesperson involved realized that they had priced you incorrectly as they had priced you in melamine as per the showroom version but you had picked a  more expensive wood veneer colour and finish.

In an act of good faith Canaroma honored the price point and proceeded with the order. As in various display units in our showroom all exterior wood veneer cabinetry is finished inside in  a natural colour high density melamine superior to the melamine finish that is done in the lower priced melamine.

I do apologize if there was confusion over the interior colour of the cabinet but I can assure you received a higher quality vanity for a lesser price point.

Regards,

purchased bath fixtures

Purchased a high end tub, shower system, and faucets in Nov 2012 after a long search for specific products for our bathroom renovation. Salesperson Brent Hanna was quite knowledgeable for install/plumbing work and had great ideas for us. Pricing was competitive and delivery well managed.

2 Bath Renovation

We decided to renovate, hired a contractor and checked out 7 different bath/kitchen stores across Toronto. Our contractor suggested Canaroma and despite being out of our way we had a look at them. The sales staff was friendly and helpful, although we had to wait to be served on a Saturday. We were looking for batroom fixtures - like air tub, steamer, Hans Grohe fixtures -and the quote came to just over $14,000. We asked about return policy and were ensured that if anything is goes wrong they will look after it. The quote seemed competitive so we put our $5K down and waited for the delivery. Our contractor had already started to demolish the baths (one bathroom was enlarged), and the 4 week delivery stretched into 6 weeks. Finally everything was shipped. All the parts seemed to come at once and Canaroma waived the $75 regular delivery charge. We then also ordered a special ACO rectangular drain which we picked up, but found later that the coupling was wrong - it needed to be a flange coupling that clamps to the membrane in the shower area to avoid leakage. Our contractor insisted on that to avoid future leaks - Canaroma got the coupling - wrong coupling came. They argued that the normal coupling is good enough. General contractor dissagreed, the plumber dissagreed... another week went by before we got the thing. The rest of the project was now 2weeks behind schedule, , and we needed towel bars, toilet paper dispensers. My wife went to Canaroma to get matching Hans Grohe stuff, put down $300 deposit on $734.50 for the 4 pieces. At no time did Brent tell her that there is 25% restocking fee on any "custom" stuff. The contractor was finishing and we need the towel bars, the order was almost 4 weeks and we had to do a substitution, called Canaroma to cancel and found out that the penalty is $167. After spending total of almost $16,000 you think that they would be eager to please you - no way. I know they have their policies, but they sure do not tell you that about the 25% restocking charge! I don't think I will use them again.

3 bathroom remodels

Great sales help but the problems started with the delivery. I received a call confirming everything was ready for shipment but that after spending over $20,000 on product we would have to pay $75 for the delivery?? When I asked if the 3 toilets were also on hand now the delivery coordinator did not know anything about them. The first delivery came and the truck driver did not drop off the entire order. He had been carrying a vanity that he did not think was ours but it was and had to come back the next day to drop it off. Then I was notified that a few pieces had been removed from the order (?) and were on backorder and did not come with the first delivery. A few days later a faucet came by courier but a 'hose' was still on order according to an email. We unwrapped a painted vanity sink to discover the finish coming off with the wrapping and had to return it. They replaced it that day. We again reviewed the reno site and found the 'hose' actually had been delivered but vanity handles were missing. I was informed that it was actually the handles on back order. We made another trip to pick up the handles. I am so very glad to now be done (I hope) with having to work with Canaroma. We discovered the Vanico vanities are available elsewhere in case we need anything further. Horrible experience after spending so much money! They have good product, friendly people but their delivery operations lack basic controls.

Bathroom renovation

Excellent showroom and professional staff. We are doing a small bathroom reno and needed to get a good idea of current styles and especially vanities for a small space. Large showroom with good vignettes. Good selection of contemporary & classic, plus the best selection of small size options. Prices were competative and we had luck with in clearance section as well (small but good quality & variety). Salesperson (Gino) was very helpful & factual.

Master bathroom sink and vanity

My husband and I happened upon this store while vising my in-laws in Woodbridge. We were in the market for a new Master bathroom sink to replace our old outdated and rusty one.

The sale section at Canaroma is very good. We found a nice brushed nickel model that was very well reasonably priced and beautiful. We unfortunately though did not find a vanity that was within our price-range. I would recommend looking into this store and viewing the clearance section - there were many well priced finds.
