Kitchen Dry Wall

Hiring a contractor is always a gamble and I look to homestars.com so I can make a more informed decision about a contractor I have never used before and simply hope for the best.

In this case, I seem to have found the best. Rob came immediately to look at the work needed to be done and gave me an honest opinion and quote.

The associates of his that did the job we're all polite, on-time, highly skilled and hard working.

Rob, in my opinion, has a lot of integrity and he surrounds himself with like-minded people who are out to do great work and not just take your money and leave you with a mess of job.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
If you are dry walling a closed off room with a doorway... be sure to seal off the door way with tape and a plastic sheet because once the sanding begins, there is not an inch where the dust wont cover if you leave it open.

It was a pleasure meeting you and working with you to complete your project. I appreciated the honesty and loyalty that you had with myself and my staff, you trusted us with your home while you were at work, which in a professional opinion is what makes contractors do a good job. If there is no trust in one or another than things could be rushed and in return have a bad outcome. It was a pleasure working with you and I am very glad that you are happy with the work that has been done. Look forward to working with you again in the future, thank you very much for the review and the trust

drywall basement family room and kitchen ceiling

I would highly reccomend Robs Renos. Rob and his crew installed new drywall in our basement family room and kitchen ceiling and repaired our living room ceiling. The work was impeccable and completed in a timely manner. Rob was very easy to work with and was always open to discussing several options with us before starting any job. We felt that we could trust him and he often found ways to save us money with supplies or by suggesting an option that we would not have come up with ourselves. He was very accessible by phone or email and he always tried his best to accomodate our schedule (which was very challenging). Rob was a pleasure to work with and we look forward to working with him again in the near future.

Business showroom addition

After receiving a few quotes we decided to go with rob because we felt comfortable with his reputation. The addition included a drop ceiling, new lights, electrical, framing a new wall, drywall, and new tiles. We had a tight budget and only allowed for 7 days to do a major addition to our customer showroom for our business. Rob assured us he could do it within budget and within the 7 days. He did not disappoint. Once we gave the go ahead he was in the very next day framing in the addition and by the 6th day it was complete. Heres the best part. Rob advised me that the materials cost less than his initial quote so he saved me alot of money which paid for my tiles!! We hit alot of obstacles with finding tiles to match the existing tiles, but rob was extremely helpful in scouring the city for the right tiles and spend alot of his own time calling and visiting all tiles stores to find me the right match. Overall it was a good experience. Outcome was fantastic and will use him again

thank you for the response chris. It was great working for you. There were quite a bit of challenges to this job, but it was great working with you in order to solve them, and solve them without any misunderstandings and agreeing with one and another on certain things. It was great that you were able to answer any questions that i had right away, and that you knew exactly what you wanted done. Your showroom looks fantastic, however, its not me to thank it was your design and your idea we just brought it out in the open, so thanks for letting us work for you. It was a great experience and i look forward to working for you again in the future.

Ceiling demo and drywall

Rob and his crew did a great job on re-doing our old heaving plaster and lath ceilings. Without question, the work was quality, but the outstanding feature of working with Rob was his ability to communicate efficiently and effectively.

Whether I called, texted or emailed questions, he would give appropriate and timely answers. This is often one of my biggest frustrations dealing with tradespeople, even those who do good work... Made the whole process less stressful, and smooth.

Would highly recommend Rob for his drywalling services and can assure you that all of these amazing reviews for Rob's Renos are backed up by the work he does!

Thank you very much for everything and look forward to working for you again in the future

repairs to ceiling cracks

We needed someone to repair cracks that appeared in our finished office ceiling. One of the larger cracks had split right through the drywall and Rob was able to fix the problem without having to remove any of the drywall from the ceiling. He was also able to accommodate us by doing the repairs without producing any dust in the reception area where the damage was. The job was competed efficiently and very quickly, there was no interruption to any of the work going on in the office at the time of the repairs. We are very satisfied as a business with the work that was done and will keep Rob on our list of contractors to call if any other repairs are required.

1200 sq. feet of stucco (popcorn) ceiling removal

Rob and his crew did an excellent job removing the stucco ceilings from my house. I spoke to various people prior to hiring Rob. All of them had their own ideas about the best way to tackle the project. Some suggested drywalling over top of the existing ceiling, which I was considering until speaking to Rob. He showed up within 24 hours to provide me with a quote and his crew started work the following week. He kept me informed throughout the process and was always available on his phone. You would never know that the ceilings were ever anything but smooth. This was a big job that included a loft area with 17 foot ceilings. 3 and half days later the entire 3 floors of the house were complete.

I would happily recommend Robs Renos to my friends and family. He is courteous and professional and his work is excellent.

fixed water damaged walls in bedroom & dining room, replaced ceiling in office

In a nutshell, you would be a fool not to hire Rob for your next job. He is a dream contractor...the kind you hear about but never meet, until now. I'm talking integrity x 100, impeccable customer service, and honest to the bone. Rob called me within ten minutes of my initial inquiry via Homestars and was at my house to give me a quote within 24 hours. He explained all the work in detail, broke down the budget right down to the penny and showed me what each sheet of drywall would cost, etc. We had numerous problems come up as the work was done, due to my house being old and leaky, and Rob was super responsive to help and fix the situation every time. When our hardwood floor was damaged in the ceiling demolition process, Rob took full responsibility for fixing it. He had a super friendly and professional team, and all of the initial work was done ahead of schedule. He even came back long after the work was done to help me with finishing a wall that was part of the initial project but had been re-damaged by water. (totally unfortunate fluke) We love Rob!! I won't work with anyone else on future projects. He really is the best. Just read the other reviews and end your search here. You've found your guy. Thank you Rob! You're fabulous!

Drywalls, taping, mudding and re-skim

"We hired Rob to do the taping, mudding, re-skim, fix older walls and adding new drywalls. Rob always arrived on schedule and met his deadlines. He was also very accommodating with us as the scope of the project was changed at the last minute.

Rob's is definitely passionate about his work and it's does show. We were very thankful that Rob noticed that one of the skylight installed in the cathedral ceiling was licking creating significant damage to the structure of the house.

We would definitely recommend Rob."

Thanks for your work.

Dry Walling - Correcting a Basement Restoration

We have a water softener system in our home. On August 30th, 2011 the basement suffered a flood caused by a burst water softener pipe. Repairs were made to the system and a property restoration company (an Insurance recommended vendor) was immediately contacted to address the flood damage by drying out the basement and removing all wet contents – wall to wall carpeting, two small oriental rugs, paneling, ceiling tiles, furniture, paintings, and clothing.
The restoration company provided an extensive, itemized estimate of the repairs required following the flood on September 19th. The paper work appeared impressive; however, the lack of professionalism and workmanship that would follow was disastrous! There were glaring imperfections with the drywall - unfinished edges were missing corner beading and metal trim; screws, cracks and taping seams were highly visible; rough, bumpy, bubbling surfaces existed throughout; all walls, corners, and baseboards were not at right angles - one wall in particular was approaching 60 degrees; and despite stating our serious concerns on numerous occasions, the basement was painted. As a result, work by the dry walling/painting crew was stopped by us and arrangements were made to find a dry walling company of our choosing to rectify and complete this restoration... thankfully, we found Robs Renos on the HomeStars website!
My husband telephoned Robs Renos Wednesday, November 2nd and spoke directly with Rob Mason, the owner, who was able to come the next day and prepare an estimate that would resolve our disastrous situation. Rob emailed his estimate Friday, November 4th which specifically addressed the significant issues and concerns we had while it simultaneously provided us with peace of mind. He began on time Monday, November 7th and within 5 days, had meticulously resolved every deficiency and professionally finished over 50% of an exceptionally incredible job, working as if he was in his own home, which had taken the previously recommended vendor many weeks to botch!
Rob had to demolish one 60 ½” wall because the drywall had been laminated over a sheet of existing drywall which created a big warp. Time and care were taken to straighten the wall before new drywall was installed, taped, finished and two coats of fresh paint were applied. The other walls that were not at 90 degree angles had to be straightened as well. All corner beads were replaced, re-taped making them flat, and painted. Since the bulkhead in the exercise room had been incorrectly built - not straight or level; Rob removed it, constructed a new bulkhead, framed it and applied new drywall which would be painted. None of the drywall ceilings had been taped correctly and the deficiencies were so extensive they needed to be skimmed twice before repainting. Unfinished drywall in every doorway was finished with d-200 finishing bead, taped and painted. The wall in the work room which originally received one coat of drywall compound had two more coats applied, was finished, primed and painted. Baseboards around the fireplace on top of the brick were removed and the trim along the wall was replaced to finish at the face of the brick. All trim needed to be primed and painted. The laundry room sink was detached allowing for the drywall behind it to be replaced, taped and painted. The closet in the exercise room was repaired in order for it to open and close.
Rob is a consummate professional… a perfectionist, who is extremely honest, knowledgeable and committed to completing exceptionally high quality work. On-going communication was maintained throughout the process to ensure we were totally satisfied. The work area was kept clean, regularly vacuumed, and garbage was quickly removed. Rob took every precaution to ensure our recently installed carpet was fully protected by covering it with plastic – prior to painting, he removed the first covering and recovered it with a second sheet of plastic. Luis, Chico, and Justin were professional, polite and demonstrated the same work ethic as Rob. We could not be more pleased with this, “second restoration” of the basement!! Had we gone with Robs Renos in the first place, we could have avoided all undue stress, frustration, and the work would have been finished by the end of September rather than the middle of November.
Rob and his team are amazing and they have worked miracles in our home… the transformation is absolutely remarkable! We are most appreciative and thankful, we already have plans for Rob and his company to complete future projects, and we would highly recommend Robs Renos if you are looking for an honest, personable, reliable, meticulous, accommodating, hard-working, knowledgeable, and professional contractor.

I would like to thank you for this excellent review!! It is a shame what had happened to you. It just amazes me that someone can walk away from the work that was done in your basement, however I am happy that I was able to make corrections and repair the damage that was done, and my team was able to make it look like new! It is now a liveable area and I am thrilled that you can now get back to your lives and enjoy your basement. Thank you so much for everything you have been more than great people to myself and my team and I look forward to working for you again in the future! Thanks again

Framing, drywalling and painting of an unfinished basement

I found Rob on Home Stars. I had placed a few calls to various contractors but Rob was the only one who called me back within the hour. Rob came over right away and helped us plan out a design for our basement. Our space was very tricky due to multiple bulkheads and utilities. He had great suggestions and helped us come up with the best use of space. Rob's team was extremely friendly and worked very efficiently to get the renovation done on time and for the quoted price. We made a few changes a long the way and Rob and his team were happy to adjust the design and make the space work for our needs. We are extremely happy with the results and would use Rob and his team again in the future.
