Thornhill Contracting

Unfortunately I cannot recommend Thornhill Contracting.

The Good:

1) Generally speaking quality of work was pretty good. With the exception of the painters (who at least have returned to do touchups), I have no complaints about the quality of work

2) Adam and his team are friendly, nice people and seem to be trying to do their best

The Bad:

1) Project management is some of the worst I've seen. A 2-3 month project dragged on for almost 9 months, mostly as a result of insufficient project management. Specifically, there was a lot of delays due to not ordering/late ordering of items, which caused a cascading series of delays (and resultant increases in budget as trades had to come back again and again).

2) Related to the above, but past the first few weeks, I never saw a project management plan or schedule. It was clear the project was being managed entirely on a reactive instead of proactive basis. Practically speaking, this meant nothing got done past the first few weeks without me chasing someone down to get it done.

3) They caused a water leak when unhooking a toilet that damaged the premises because they did not shut off the valve properly. Had I not caught this during a site inspection, the damage could have been much worse

4) They literally just forgot to do part of the project, again resulting in rework, delays, and extra costs. To their credit, they did come back and finish this part after it was called out, but this was well after the project was supposed to be concluded

5) At the end of the project, due to inaccurate record keeping, I was almost over-charged by a fair amount. Fortunately I caught this and Adam/Thornhill did make amends, but had I not caught it I would have been over-billed

UPDATE: It has been approx 18 months since Thornhill/Adam and his team completed this work. I retract my point about quality of work. There's extensive issues with the work their drywall taper / mudder did. I have cracks and peeling drywall tape throughout my upstairs. Would absolutely NOT recommend this company for further work

Adam from Thornhill Contracting did an upgrade to our laundry room, installing a somewhat complicated backsplash with two types of tiles. He did the work on schedule, the quality was good, and left the job site clean and tidy.

We were really pleased with the work of Adam and his team. They were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Adam has excellent contacts with specialized skills, so all aspects of the job are well done.
In addition, we really appreciated Adam's reliable communication, and the trouble he takes to clean up as he goes. These things make home improvement projects a lot less stressful!

Adam Patel is the contractor and we have much faith in he and his team .
He is competent and worked to finish the kitchen/ bathroom renos within a reasonable timeline.
There were a few delays but these were in part due to unforeseen matters that required a bit of extra cost and time but these small changes were necessary for the team to do the most professional job possible.
My husband and I appreciated his willingness to listen to and address any questions or concerns that arose in the course of the project. He is mild mannered and easy to talk to which meant a lot to both of us.
The members of his team were professional and responsive to our questions throughout the project.
His budget was fair and he adhered to his contract.
We will use Thornhill Contracting again in future for any renos and upgrades that we plan to undertake.

We hired Thornhill Contracting to complete a full remodel of our kitchen, update our staircase, and install hardwood flooring throughout the home. They completed the job within the allotted 6 weeks timeline and were clean and professional. We have used them for smaller jobs since then and plan on using them again to renovate our bathrooms in the near future. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for contract work.

Excellent service and workmanship from Adam and his crew from Thornhill Contracting. Our main renovation was completed in the agreed time frame and on budget. We've already used Thornhill Contracting on multiple occasions for different projects and will continue to use their services in the future!
