The Home Improvement Group - THIG

The Home Improvement Group sent us Aldo Leon as the Project Manager and he worked with us on design and build. He helped us achieve a home that was to our taste and budget. The house looks like new again and he helped us fix all home issues including crumbling porch, flooding garage, leaky roof and lack of outside electrical access. His team was incredibly hard working, respectful and provided quality work. The project was on budget, there were no surprises so estimates were done well. We went a bit over on completion time but weather was to blame for that, and overall it was still within reason. We are extremely pleased with how things turned out. Our friends and family are impressed with what was accomplished on the budget we had. We are enjoying the comforts of our old / new home. I have found the only people i'll be turning to for future work on our house. Thank you so much THIG for sending us Aldo, and for managing our account. You were very responsive to my inquiries, very reasonable and accommodating when it came to contracts and payments. Everyone did an excellent job!

I am happy with the results in the end. It is always a process and glad have THIG to help with project/contractor management. This saved me from many headaches.

We have a 3-piece condo bathroom that needed updating. We replaced everything: bathtub, shower, vanity, toilet, tiles, bathroom fan, paint etc.

Overall the contractors were professional and we are satisfied with the work. Our project manager Ivan was very helpful and replied to our questions and concerns promptly. Although there were some initial issues with expired licenses, Ivan helped to sort these out before the project began.

The contractors and project manager were willing to accommodate all our requests, for example additional waterproofing and special grout composition.

On the negative side, the project ended up costing nearly twice the initial estimate ($15k instead of $9k) and took almost 4 weeks to complete instead of the originally estimated 1 week.

My project was to tap, and paint the garage walls, and build some shelves and slat walls for storage. Also I needed help to remove the old shelves. I was satisfied with the work. I had Joe assigned to this project. He shows up on time, did a very good job, and come up with good ideas to improve storage in my garage. I look forward to working with the company again.

There were workers who Renovated the washroom and the outside entrance stairs. Ivan was helpful including purchasing the materials.

Our kitchen was original from the 60s, with a perfect layout and dated red oak cabinets. The reno included the straight replacement of backsplash, quartz counter, flooring and refinishing the cabinets. We also replaced all appliances and sink and more significantly, opened a load bearing wall to create a sizeable breakfast peninsula with custom matching cabinetry underneath. I requested 10 quotes, received 5 estimates and followed up with 3 contractors before I decided on THIG. They were mid range among the 3 but our project manager Les diligently answered my many questions and the email eventually became a very detailed account of the scope and approach to the work. This frequent and clear communication carried on throughout the project and they stayed on the original budget and on schedule. Kriss was the lead contractor onsite and his professionalism and attention to detail made the experience both pleasant and worry free. He gained my trust in the first few days by the questions he asked and suggestions he made. Both Les and Kriss anticipated some small but noticeable improvements I had not thought of, demonstrating their care and pride for the work they want to deliver. They addressed every request for final touches prior painting and prior project conclusion. We had some worries about refinishing the cabinets instead of replacing them, but Fabio did a fabulous job, they looked brand new. The rest of the house was well protected from construction and Kris cleaned up at the end of each day giving us full use of the kitchen except for 2-3 days when the appliances were getting moved or fresh paint had just been applied. I would recommend them without reservation. Notes: the budget did not include appliances and some materials (flooring, tiles, electrical fixtures, new handles). I will send THIG before and after pictures so you may be able to request a visual reference for this review.

We had an urgent plumbing issue at our office washroom. Within minutes of contacting THIG, they set the ball rolling and got someone to look at the issue early the following morning. The person they sent was most courteous and professional in his work and the issue was resolved with utmost speed.

I had the pleasure of working with Les and his very skilled team to install large 8" baseboards with accompanying cap and shoes for my entire 2,500 square home. Chris the tradesman was an absolute pleasure to work with and immensely skilled. The quality of the work far surpassed my expectations. Chris was courteous, punctual and above all else clean! Cutting baseboards is a messing business and he kept the work site pristine throughout the entire process. The attention to detail and skill was incredible. Corners were done with exact precision and the all the baseboards were finished seamlessly with caulking. It ended up taking a bit longer than expected but I was not charged more. Wonderful experience I will certainly use them again for whatever next project I may have.
