Move from 2800 to 2300sq. ft.

We moved on a day with 40+ humidex and took more than 10 hours. The move was quoted properly and never have I seen six men work so hard under the worst conditions. They managed to move an armoir that they rated as one their top three worst items. No damage. Took few breaks, especially considering the heat. (I sent my husband to a hotel, because he has heart disease and it was too much.) Even at the end of the day, even though they were exhausted they were smiling and joking with us. I've unpack most and no damage. They are a new company and may not be as speedy, but I'll take their hard work, positive attitude and honesty any time! The rest will follow. Thank you.

As an employee of East York Housing Help, one of my responsibilities is to help secure housing and sustain tenancies. In some cases securing the housing is the easy part, the difficult part is actually getting the client packed and moved, due to financial restraints and/or physical limitations.

This letter is just to inform you of how Firemen Movers have responded to our call for help, and assisted us with some of the challenging cases in our community.

Not long ago we had a client who had to have one of her legs amputated and was collecting Ontario Disability. She at that time, found herself living in a basement apartment and as you can imagine had great accessibility problems. Though we were fortunate enough to find her a great little apartment, which would enhance her life, she had no idea how she would pack, not to mention be able to afford movers. Firemen Movers answered our call for help with an offer to supply all of the moving and packing supplies and to move her at no charge. I recently received a call from the client, she informed me of how much her life has improved and how on Canada Day she was able to watch the fireworks at Ashbridge’s Beach from her rooftop patio.

Recently we had a senior client who had lived in the basement of an apartment complex, for the last 25 years. His story was one hard to imagine. It seems that there was a young man living in the same complex who was breaking into our clients’ apartment everyday and destroying his belongings. Our client, being a senior, just didn’t have the strength to fight back anymore; it was a losing battle. After we secured an apartment for this client, we once again asked Firemen Movers if they could help us with the move at a discounted price. The client called me 4 days ago, to inform me that he had moved. He was extremely happy as he informed me that when he asked the men at the end of the move what he owed them, they simply extended their hand for a hand shake.

All I can say, is that Firemen Movers have been heaven sent for the people we serve. They are a resource that we will keep tucked away in our back pocket, for our most challenging cases. When we have no where else to turn, these men are there. How lucky are we, and the community at large.

Thanks for all of your help, we could never repay you for the changes and differences you are making in our clients lives.

Yours sincerely,

Ivy Davis

Move 3 Bedroom Home

Chris and his crew (4 men total) arrived exactly on time and began loading the truck as soon as they arrived. It was a soggy, rainy day, but they covered the floors with runners and were able to keep most of the mess contained (some was inevitable). They disassembled our larger pieces of furniture and wrapped all pieces for protection. They provided wardrobe boxes so we didn't have to pre-pack the clothes in our closets. They also were fine with us leaving clothes in our dressers, so they didn't have to be packed either (taking up valuable space in the truck).

Once the truck was being loaded, we realized we were going to be tight on space, so they stationed one of the movers in the truck to reorganize and ensure that everything would fit. It did... just.

We had to pay for the movers to wait while we got our key, but we expected this since we were closing on both houses the same day. It was unfortunate, but we planned for it.

The unloading was fairly quick and we saved a little bit of time by having them just leave a lot of boxes and furniture in the middle of the rooms. We took care of locating and reassembling items ourselves.

The quote we received was based solely on time and the size of the truck. We were billed for the exact time used and were very pleased with whole process. We would highly recommend Firemen Movers.

We found out that not all of the movers are firemen. We had one, but the others were either in training or wanting to become firemen. You can be sure these young men were trying to make a good impression. They certainly did.

apartment to condo move

This is my 13th move and I chose Firemen Movers after reading the glowing reviews and speaking to the efficient-sounding office staff. The crew were professional, courteous and pleasant- a great improvement on movers I’ve used in the past- and overall the move was a success and even somewhat enjoyable because of their personalities.

Although we would still recommend the company, we do have a few reservations. We had a 4-man team, and moving our one-bedroom apartment took 10 hours, which is longer than we expected. It is true that we moved out of a 3rd-story apartment with no elevator, and we understand that this added extra time to the outward journey, but we suspect that part of the problem was that one team member seemed less enthusiastic about the move than the others.

Our stuff arrived intact but a few new pieces suffered minor dents, chips or dings; this was because they were a wee bit inconsistent about what was wrapped and what was not and how it was wrestled through doors and into place.

Perhaps the guys were tired out by moving my piano, which they did first. I was reluctant at first to add it to the move but not only is a piano move pictured on the Website, but the office assured me that they move pianos regularly. When they arrived the guys were (understandably) clearly not thrilled to be moving a piano so perhaps the office oversold this option.

We’d like to end by reiterating that these really are the nicest guys, 3 of whom remained amazingly positive throughout. It’s ironic that the hardest-working guy is not even a Firemen yet, but based on his attitude we’re sure he will become great assets to some future FD team.

Thanks for the review! It is true that sometimes a move can take a little longer than anticipated. We at Firemen Movers always try to give an accurate and honest estimate about the time it will take to move you. On occasion our estimate will come in a little over, or a little under, what we predict. Thanks for letting us know how we did and we are always striving to be better. Thanks again for your business.

house move

Anyone can set themselves up as a moving firm. All you need is a van and an advert in a free paper. It's why there are so many cowboys. If you want to save a few bucks, go ahead and hire the two guys who turn up wearing stained white vests, driving a U-haul, and then spend their time rotating between taking smoking breaks and wrecking your furniture/house. Just don't be amazed when they suddenly want twice the original estimate.

If you want professionals, who wear uniforms, have all the gear, and do exactly what they say they would, then hire Fireman Movers.

They made our move pretty much stress-free. Diana in the office was very helpful with scheduling the move. Lorne, one of the owners, visited us beforehand to make sure we had the right number of movers. All charges were fully explained ahead of time and we recieved a complete estimate by e-mail.

We're a busy family with 3 kids, so we also needed help with the packing. Fireman movers sent two packers who boxed up our house in a day. They couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.

The move itself went just as smoothly. The team of four movers used carpet runners throughout the house, shrinkwrapped all the furniture and put blankets around any fragile items. They worked quickly and competently. Again, all were professional and courteous. The result is that not one single thing was damaged nor was there any damage to the houses we were moving into or out of.

Move

I did a lot of research before I selected Firemen movers and everything I read about the company was true! The crew: Kirk, Tim and David were awesome! They had great personalities and were extra careful with our furniture. It was a long move and they had to haul heavy furniture like our 300-pound butcher block coffee table down a steep flight of stairs and were still smiling at the end of the day. The move took from 9am until about 7:30m pm and at one point I said to Kirk: I am starting to feel really guilty. He laughed and said: "Don't.We're not your buddies doing this for pizza and beer." True. But they kinda of felt like buddies :)
