Red Robin Masonry

I had half a dozen smaller items that needed fixing at my house, such as; deteriorating concrete pillars for the garage doors; a long sectional window sill that wasn't sloping away and had crumbling joints; small cracks in the foundation, flaking spots on a concrete slab; a small section of rough unattractive parging; etc.

I called 3 contractors on Homestars that I thought would be comfortable with smaller jobs. One company set up several appointments but kept cancelling them due to scheduling conflicts. A smaller company took a week or two to come and quote and I got the feeling that he was trying to over-sell me. Dave Bissinger from Red Robin made a timely appointment and kept it. His quote was very reasonable.

It was a pleasure having Hadrian do the work. He was very thorough and he's a very interesting guy, as well. He was scheduled for another job the next day, so he told me that someone else would come the following day to remove the forms used for the pillar repairs.

John came the next day and, after removing the forms, said that, because the facings weren't perfectly smooth, he would come back to parge them. I was very impressed with John's perfectionist attitude and his commitment to customer satisfaction.

We found this company on HomeStar. They returned our call promptly to set a time to come out to do an estimate. Another company we called would only estimate over the phone. Nice guy came to do the estimate. Fair price. The only negative was they were very busy and had to reschedule within a few days twice. Work was performed by an expert craftsman. Neat and old world techniques were used from years of experience. The 5 year warranty was also highly impressive. We would definitely recommend this company.

I found Red Robin Masonry to be very polite and efficient when they returned my initial call. They did an excellent job on repairing the chimney which required the replacement of the cap, replacement of a couple of bricks and the replacement of the rain/animal guard. As there was a bit of time available leftover from the chimney repair, they offered and replaced some of the bricks on the front of my house as well as repairing the crack at the side of the house between several bricks. I would recommend them to others to do chimney repairs in the future.

Red Robin has a great team, fast turnaround on all calls and questions, and we now have the best chimney on the block.

Dave's assessment of the work was the best we had, and the price was the best for what was proposed. Our chimney was starting to crumble, a past owner had parged it in cement, and while others only proposed rebuilding a few layers and replacing the cap, Dave recognized that the only way to take all problems away for the next 10 to 30 years was to rebuild. Their price was fair enough to go ahead and do it right.

Dave's team was great and did a solid job. My only advice to others is to give any special instructions early on about where to put debris and what to watch for (trees, garden, etc.), and they'll accommodate.

All projects have hiccups and we did too - a clerical error on the invoice (tax was really +$200), a broken branch (probably a dropped brick), and a minor leak they rushed out the next day to check and seal - really an issue with the shared roof (neighbours reshingled within a month), not the work done. What you want when these things happen is a contractor who listens and responds fast, and they were great throughout.

Great service all around, highly recommended.

It's nice to see companies like Red Robin Masonry who value their work and their customers so highly. David bent over backwards to accommodate a very tight timeline due to an impending driveway installation. Even the Toronto floods didn't hinder the scheduling. The team arrived on time, worked hard and did an amazing job. They even removed a large pile of rubble and concrete that was not part of their project at no cost. From someone who was in the trades for over ten years, I can easily recommend them.

We fielded several quotes and Dave's prices were the best. We had our chimney rebuilt from the roof line due to water damage. The crew were professional and did a fantastic job. It is impossible to distinguish the difference between the existing and new.
Recently, another part of our house needed repair due to water damage so we called Dave. We were completely satisfied with the first job that we never considered anyone else. Again his crew did a wonderful job and we are completely happy with the work. I recommend this company to anyone reading this, and as a repeat customer we can vouch for the consistancy of the work. 10 stars

Red Robin Masonry did a wonderful job repairing our old, crumbling chimney. Dave was prompt, professional and his quote was both fair and exactly what we expected to pay. They were able to match the brick on our 30 year old home. The chimney looks great now and, more importantly, we don't have to worry about pieces of brick falling down. We would definitely have them work for us again and recommend them to anyone.
