Brick cut out for Patio slider and closing up existing window

Worked with Red Robin to have a large cut out made to the back exterior wall to allow for a paito slider put in. Also, expanded the opening of another window and fully closed in a different window.

Jessie was assigned to our project and he was GREAT!!

I took off a point as the RR clean up crew broke a planter when packing up. RR was able to cover the replacement cost.

How do these people stay in business?

Shoddy work that took 3.5 weeks--not the 1 week promised. They had to come back--twice--to fix their substandard work. Our front step had a huge gouge that meant everyone tripped as they entered the house. We had to ask twice for them to complete that job, then come back to repair the work they'd done--open joins, holes in the cement. The pointing work was 40% done when they stopped. We had to have them back to finish that, also.
Very difficult to deal with as they don't show up when they say they will--don't even call.

Approximate cost of services:
$30,000.00

Day's Work - all kinds of repairs

Infill of basement window with blocks.
Parging partial back end of house
Securing paving stones on steps that were falling out.
Small tuck point
repair of loose stone at bottom of pillar
Cutting craggy stones at gate to a clean finish.
I only had one job in mind when I contacted Red Robin (Parging partial back end of house and Infill of basement window with blocks). But learning about the services they do, and with the Estimator pointing out
other issues, my mind was blown away by the amount of "fixing" that could be accomplished. All I can say is WOW. Well worth the investment from my perspective.
Also, your personnel, estimating, job planning and workmen were professional. Loved the estimate with photos. Thanks so much!

Re-pointing work and Chimney Rebuild

Trying to get a mason to even show up and quote was extremely hard to do. This is definitely one of those trades where there’s more jobs than skilled workers….word to the wise; plan months ahead of the busy season (spring & fall). Red Robin was one of 3 companies out of 7 that I reached out to that had the decency to return our call and actually show up to quote.
Our house is a historic home in Richmond Hill (eighteen hundreds era), lots of old brick, a masons dream. It’s currently tenanted. I was in no rush to get the work done, just didn’t want to be going into another winter with decaying brick and a falling chimney. My job got bumped a couple times (weather and job delays at other sites). When the work was completed, it was done very quickly. Most areas you can’t even tell the difference between the patch work and old brick and feels very sturdy (I literally had one wall/corner that moved when you kicked it before). They did however miss a few mortar joints and in few places the mortar isn’t matched to the existing color. Dave, the owner, was very responsive. Plans are in the works to address the issues. Their price was competitive to the other 2 quotes and the end product looks to stand the test of time. Taking into account the state of trades these days and the fact that there is owner on the other end who cares, I am very happy with outcome and price we paid.

Review long overdue

Red Robin reconstructed my chimney and repaired a front porch brick column several years ago. They used the old brick from the chimney to repair the column so that it matched the brick on the other column. The contractor spent a great deal of time matching the grout on the columns. He told me they would match perfectly over time and he was right.
Also, the new brick they sourced for the chimney was a good match.
A belated thank you. Both repairs have stood the test of time.

Repair of porch pillars

I was put in contact with Red Robin Masonry through another contractor that was rebuilding my porch.
The pillars were in such bad shape that he couldn't continue until they had been replaced.
Red Robin Masonry came through big time for us (job was completed not too long ago) - they were able to fit us into their schedule on short notice to get the job done so we could continue with our other renos.
They were able to re-use almost all of the existing brick to rebuild and repair the pillars and they look FANTASTIC (our home was built in the 1920s, and the brick look is a large part of our home's character) . You can barely tell that the entire pillar was rebuilt. I've even had neighbours ask when we are going to have it done, only to happily tell them they are looking at it already, and see the surprise on their faces, and hear the compliments.
The whole project only took 2.5 days to complete, which I was impressed with, given the poor weather we were having.

Would 100% recommend, and will 100% be using them for the brick repair and other work I would like to get done on the rest of my home!

I should also mention that masonry work can get very dirty and my home was left clean at the end of EACH day!

Thanks again!

Thank you John and Jenn for the review.

One of the hardest parts of our job is working out our schedules and problem-solving to fit in emergency jobs like this. That being said it is all worthwhile knowing we were able to help out both you and your contractor.

Thank you for trusting us to rebuild the pillars properly, as they were originally constructed.

Good luck with the remainder of your work and please don't hesitate to contact us in the future

- John
