February 11, 2015. This is a warning to anyone looking to build with Gallery Homes in the Jumping Pound area located in Cochrane Alberta. Be careful when dealing with Gallery Homes as my wife and I would highly recommend using any other home builder. Our experience has been the most stressful time in our lives and we are now left with an incomplete home. Soon after signing papers with the sales rep we began to loose trust and respect with our sales rep. During the first couple months we caught our sales rep trying to over charge us for extras. Soon after many terrible experience trying to obtain correct blue prints, correct pricing etc., Gallery homes later fired the sales rep. During the construction portion of the home build it went generally very well and the construction supervisor appeared to care and consider our input. As our possession date for October 31, 2014 approached we received a call a few days before that our home will not be ready. We were informed that every quartz countertop in the entire home has been botched and a hack job installation was done, all countertops had to be replaced. Gallery put us up in a hotel room for four nights ensuring that the home will be completed when we take possession the following week. The day of possession finally took place on November 3, 2014 and to our surprise the home was full of deficiencies , incomplete work, horrible paint and missing items. Our walk through lasted 15 minutes and were forced into signing. The construction supervisor ensured that everything would be fixed and completed asap. This was the beginning of our nightmare. We had no ensuite bath tub, no ensuite shower door, no ensuite backsplash, no main bath shower tile or backsplash, no island pendant lights, no entrance chandelier, no front entrance tile, incorrect garage door, sinking flooring, bad paint work, incorrect garburator, malfunctioning door latches, missing kitchen drawers, missing eves troughs, no exterior house number, windows covered in Lux stickers, shingles covered in nails/razor blades and a very very filthy home. It took weeks to get anything done or even a shower door. As time went on trades started showing up at unannounced times and at late hours. Each time a crew came it seemed more problems were created than resolved. Gallery Homes had a lock box on our front door for over three months and trades were working in our home unsupervised. One Friday evening we came home at 8:30 pm to find a tile crew still working in our home unsupervised and to our surprise they grouted our entire ensuite backsplash the wrong color. After a heated conversation with the construction supervisor as to what happened after we discussed the color was to be white, he said he will no longer coordinate with us and we are now to deal with the owner of Gallery Homes directly. After finally getting in contact with the owner he had no time or desire to personally meet with us or help us out. We were now forced to communicate via email, text messages and emails. Our entire ensuite backsplash later had to be removed and the walls re-drywalled. We also could now not get the same backsplash as it was on back order. Another day we came home and to our surprise our ensuite bathtub was installed but not installed how we would have wanted it. We received no notice of installation or input as to how we want it positioned. When the new crew came to install the ensuite backspalsh they were very unprofessional and we caught them cutting tile and backplash directly on top of our quartz countertops leaving black mark. The flooring crew from Canada Rug refused to replace a chipped piece of flooring or to repair the sinking piece of flooring. During the last part of December 2014 and into January 2015 we received no communication from Gallery, each time we sent emails or left voicemails we heard nothing back. Finally in mid January 2015 we heard from a service coordinator who instructed us that she will take over and wants us to send in our deficiency list. An email later stated that our flooring issues will be taken care of and hopefully our ensuite tub will be relocated. At this point we have been shuffled from the sales rep, to the construction supervisor, to the owner and now to a service coordinator. A meeting was held in our home with the service coordinate to review and discuss the remaining deficiencies. The painter showed up and did some paint work that was below satisfactory. The garburator was swaped out for the correct size. A week later we received an email stating that Gallery will not repair our sinking flooring or relocate our ensuite bathtub. It is now February 2015 and we are left with permanent deficiencies. I would highly recommend to not use this home builder as you will be very disappointed.
